Great shave. I gotta admit, that brush is beautiful. Sometimes a really nice shave is what you need. I love the old school stuff too. But its nice to pamper yourself from time to time. I shaved early this morning and put a picture on your facebook page. I used a Vander Hagen adjustable razor with a wilkonson sword blade. Lathered Sir Hare soap. And finished with gillette cool wave after shave and our man jack balm. The goatee came off today. Great smooth shave for me. Yours was a stunning shave i have to say. Have a great wknd

Hello John. Great video again. Not used Astra blue. Only the green, which I like. I've only got one badger brush. It's probably my favourite brush. I always soak it for 15 minutes before the shave. Same as the boar brushes. Just had a straight razor shave. That's all I've used for the last couple of months. Really enjoying the change. SOTD will be a couple of Magners this evening. Hi John, I've used a lot of Astra Greens but just the one Blue so far. I found it sharper than the green but not quite as smooth. Another case of YMMV.
My luxury shave? Like you, I've been leery about spending huge amounts on soaps / splashes (or the high end razors and brushes, for that matter). But a while back I was given a sample of Saponificio Varesino Tundra Artica splash in with an order - and loved it! So I treated myself to the soap and splash. Just LOVE it! But rarely use it... I have this ingrained thing about keeping the good stuff for special occasions. I need to use it more often.

That was an outstanding shave John. Floris 89 is another one of those soaps on my list of wants. You are right though. If you are going to go luxury you have to go full tilt. I find Astra Blue sharp but tougher than the Greens, at least for the first couple of shaves.

Great Shave John, Great soap Floris, and the Aftershave is Awesome and when the orientals come out just wow I am Glad i Bought it, but you have gone all out well you only live twice and it is slick very slick Triple Milled soap are hard to beat for slickness and floris is one of the best, I liked all the bonds but danial craig was true to the books than the other bonds Danials Craig's bond was a lot Darker Casino Royal and Skyfall were his best in my opinion take care and have a great weekend :-)

For me triple milled soaps are at least 2x more lather efficient than of any Artisan Soft croap (like PAA or Stirling), ie. I use half as much soap for the lather. So at the price GBP23.00, to me that's like GBP12.50 in tub value, so it's great value IMO. However, adding the Ti TimeLess, splash, balm and EDT certainly turns it into a luxury shave. I actually like your method for using a hard soap puck. Lovely luxury shave John, not sure what I could put together but it would not be anything like that one.👌😎👍

People love Astra Green and I just can't get on with them. Just being curious, I tried Astra Blue and had a few good shaves. I'm not going to call them a favorite but certainly better than Green for my face. I'm not much of a fan of natural hair brushes myself. I own some, like you said for variety. Thanks for another enjoyable video!

I used to love the Astra green, but after not using them for about a month, when I went back to them I wasn't overly impressed.

Great shave, John! The Floris sounds like a great S, S, B combo and the Ti is quite luxurious, too. I've used both green and blue Astras minimally, but I like the blue better. However, I began WS using the green and tore myself up, so I'm a bit gunshye of it. 🤪 As you can see, I'm a bit behind on watching and commenting. Today was my first day off in awhile, and this past weekend is usually the toughest work weekend of the year, so I treated myself to a good shave and decent slurp. Shave Secret, RR GC .68 with a Crystal on it's 5th or 6th use. B&M Cool soap applied with a T2 and matching splash, which has some menthol. This was needed for the record breaking high of 91*F (*33C). Back to 68*F (20*C) tomorrow...whew! I'm really beginning to like this razor, sice I figured out how to handle it and pair it with the right blades. Morning SLOTD-Timmy's Dark Roast. Since I was off today and got my chores and errands done, I had a "I'm a Radio" NEIPA from Zero Gravity. Your next video is already up, but it's past my bedtime, so I'll have to watch it tomorrow. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Have a great rest of the week!

Nice shave John! I've never tried Floris, it sounds great! I really like the handle on that brush 😎👍SOTD: Stirling Dunshire soap, splash, and balm, the Twig with a Leaf blade (these are good blades btw) and the Peregrino brush.

Nice review and shave. How does Floris compare with Tabac? That's about as high-end as I go ☺️ I also prefer Astra Green over Astra Blue. For me, the Blue isn't as sharp and I can only get two decent shaves with one. Have a great weekend!

I find all Astra blades average at best.
It's not about how long you soak a Badger brush. It's to do with how dense the badger hair is. SHD knots eat/hog the lather. Get a hand tied knot and the flow through is superb and create the best lather.
Saponificio Varesino is the best luxury brand for me. The Aftershave lotion is the best on the market bar none 👌
