They both had someone watching over and judging them. He had God, she had us. In the end he still needed God, but she had learnt she was capable of loving again so didn't need us anymore. So she said goodbye

Truly one of my very favorite quotes from anything I’ve ever seen. So subtle and so relatable. Along with
“He’s a feminist.” “I’ve got a sister.”
i like that phoebe wb flip the script in series 2, making fleabag be the only character that got her shit together but everyone else still kept acting so horrendous towards her
but she still showed up, be there for everyone's in need, inspire other to be brave (claire leaving her awful spouse vs her dad cowardice)
despite ended up heartbroken, now she dont need to address the audience any more, showing her growth, maturity, and content with herself
Their chemistry is 10/10
About the kneel scene. You can really tell in the scene before when she surprises him that he is having a massive crisis of faith because of his attraction to her. Talking about how she is disturbing his peace and the priest who castrates himself rather than betray his vow. He is also pretty drunk already. He has stated how lonely he is in the dinner scene. When she is finally emotionally vulnerable he feels even closer to her and just snaps…. At least that’s how I see it.
You could also tell he had been crying.
This is one of my top 3 all-time favorite seasons of a show. I thought the ending was just perfect. He helped her be honest and vulnerable and start to heal a bit, to the point where she doesn't need us anymore, and she helped him reaffirm his faith by causing him to doubt and really think about who he was and what he wanted. Just *chef's kiss*
Is there a pateron cut? Some of my favorite bits from the last 4 episodes were edited out :(. Also with Fleabag saying "It's a love story" in the first episode I think it's about her and Claire. With Claire saying in the last episode "The only person I'd run through an airport through is you" Considering where they started in the first episode. I just love this show and think it ended perfect. I went through a long term breakup right when the second season came out so the priest saying "I love you too" and walking away fucking destroyed me like no other show haha (I'm ok now though haha)
Fleabag pleasantly surprised me, one of my favorite shows.
The drama in this show is perfect.
Everyone wants them to end up together in spite of the fact that he probably is a recovering alcoholic and perhaps a sexaddict that states that this life is really good for him and if they got together his life would be fucked. I like that he took a misstep and then returned to his path. But one does have to admit that they have crazy intense chemistry.

This show is perfect! Recommend rewatching it at some point, I feel like you find new things/thoughts every time
For more Phoebe Waller-Bridge excellence, check out "Killing Eve" (2018-2022) if you haven't seen them. She wrote 4 episodes and was executive producer on 24. First two series are excellent and then it drops offs IMHO, and got very mixed reviews for the 4th & final series. Funny, sexy & violent.

Did you realize most of the characters don’t have names? Like the hot priest, dad, the godmother and even fleabag’s name is not mentioned once in the show

Ao3. That is where I go for the ending I emotionally want. But from a series storytelling point, this ending was better and at least it was real. They really loved each other and that can never be erased. A very unconventional short but wonderful love story. Fleabag in general is a masterpiece in writing, acting and everything else. If you ever have the chance, there is a filmed version of her one women play on which the first season is based on. It is fascinating to see what a great performer and writer she is.
And Andrew Scott is just a treasure.....though I did like his Moriarty because he was batshit crazy and i loved his acting, Hot Priest Guy sealed the deal for me. God, this first episode was......if I could write an episode like that. The only other episode that worked so well despite one location was the episode from Bojack Horseman when he held a rambling but and funny and dark eulogy for the whole fucking 20 minutes of the episode.
Fleabag fic writers are god tier.
