My great grandfather - The Shaykh of Knowledge Abuw Bakr Effendi al-Khoshnaawiy (1814 - 1880) - had come from Iraqi Kurdistan. He was the famous scholar who was requested by the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Aziyz to be sent to Queen Victoria to her Muslim subjects in South Africa. His son - my great grandfather taught my father some Sorani Kurdish and my father taught me some. So I ended up only knowing a few dozen or so words. There is a documentary being made that will air on Rudaw soon - 'in shaa' ALLAAH. We have thousand year recorded history in Kurdistan.

As a Kurmanj Kurd from North of Kurdistan I wanna learn all Kurdish langauge until a certain level. I feel ashamed that I do not speak my fellow Kurds’ languages.
I'm an Iranian who is half-Kurdish (Sanandaj city) and half-Gilak (Gilan city), both of which have a lot of common words. Although I know Kurds are independent people from governments and neighboring countries, I can vividly see the root of these similarities as all those territories were part of the ancient dynasties of modern-day Iran for thousands of years. Lastly, I'm proud of being taught Kurdish here by you. Thank you very much... ❤

Thank you for your effort to teach Kurdish, the more people know about our language and culture more stronger we get. Yet there are some points I would like to mention that one cannot ignore while they teach Kurdish. First how can you show an information to the foreign people that says Kurdish Language is a West Iranian language? while it is still arguable whether Kurdish Or Farsi are older language. Second, in Kurdish we don't have Kurmanji and Sorani dialect, instead we have Kurmanji serw, xwarw and nawerast. Sorani is part of kurmanji nawerast dialect. Last one, current data tells that there are roughly 70 million Kurds around the world.

I think if you can speak Arabic as well that would be great, In my opinion mixing 3 languages ( Ar,Ku & En ) while teaching Kurdish Language will be valuable and reflect positively on your channel and can attract more viewers. I am of Kurdish origins, but unfortunately I cannot speak the Kurdish language. The story is a bit long, but I'll make it short. The reason is that I do not know the language because my grandfather married a Turkmen woman. They both lived in the Sinjar region. They are my uncles and aunts (who are older than my parents). They spoke Kurdish before my father was born. They settled in the Tal Afar area. My uncles and aunts, who are older than my father, know the Kurdish language, but my father and the younger ones do not know the Kurdish language. My father can only understand and respond to some words he knows. Greetings, I wish you all the best and success❤
