@bamm86 he's been the one dude in the community that is impossible to replace/ duplicate. I was lucky enough to meet him here at a South Texas con. Bought him comic dude needed out with my and my kid for like 30min lol. This movie is gonna be bananas .... his insight would have been loud and hilarious.
I like that Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame had a billion characters each but we’re still sweating over like six characters being in a Superman movie lol
John Campea made a good analogy on his show: When we see Axel Foley, we don’t complain about the other Cops that are in the movie, Superman having those other characters are the same thing. They’re not the main character, they’re just the “cops” in the movie as supporting characters. I’m paraphrasing terribly, but I hope you get it, lol.
That was different. Those movies were designed to be ensembles and they came out when the MCU was already pretty far along. I wouldn't say anyone's "sweating" per se, just a mild concern. That said, I trust that James Gunn knows what he's doing, so I think it'll be fine.
I like his parents being alive as well. Shows your parents don't have to die to push them to be a hero. I love that when he gets lost out there he sometimes comes home to Mom and Dad to get advice. Loved it ❤
Not Donner - both parents were gone in the comics at that time - died before he went to Metropolis. Only Pa Kent died in the Superman TV show (George Reeves) Ma was still alive and at the farm. That scene where Lois shakes up the coke bottle was also in that 1st origin episode on the TV show. They're alive again thanks to a reboot in the comics.
@ yeah, they both died right away in the very first issue of Action Comics. After Crisis of Infinite Earths, they were alive. Post Crisis era is my favourite DC era. I miss that time.

Somebody said the new DCU is going for that same vibe as the 90’s animated Superman and Batman. If that’s the case…holy sht am I pumped! Both of those shows are absolute perfection!
I actually liked the dynamic of the Kent's raising Clark as a child into his teen years in MOS. It was clear (or at least Snyder was trying to make clear to the audience) that the Kent's loved Clark but Clark isn't human, and as much as they try to raise Clark and teach him right from wrong, great values etc its still a challenge because Clark isn't from earth. In that universe it was more a portrayal of we love you son, but if you display your abilities the govt will DEFINITELY try to take you or he'll be under so much scrutiny from kids, parents that he won't be allowed to live a normal life. So when Jonathan is caught in the tornado and rejects Clark's help, he's saying NO don't help me let me go as a way of a father trying to protect his son from exposure....ITS SELFISH, and WRONG to do that Clark, but I think that's the point. As much as Jonathan and Martha loved Clark they didn't have all the answers and they weren't always making the best decisions for their son.
Big upcoming interview with Sean Gunn! Congrats on that Kristian! Also I really enjoyed the trailer breakdown. Would love to see more of those with the crew for the big movies that warrant it. Loved the trailer and felt it really captured the essence of Superman with hope
Great 1st trailer. This is the SUPERMAN movie the world has been waiting for. Loved the tone of it and the top gun style guitar rif of the John Williams theme was perfect. This is going to be a massive hit for WBD/DCU Studios and this summer the Krypto plush dog will be the biggest selling toy ever. Everyone is going to want one.
I wasn’t too excited when I heard that Gunn was starting off the DCU with a Superman movie, but everything we’ve seen so far has made me excited for it.
I actually wouldn't have minded if the DCU started off with Green Arrow. It worked for Justice League Unlimited, and it worked enough for the arrowverse to get like 5 spin-off shows. I don't mind it starting off with Superman, but that just seems like the obvious choice. The thing about DC is that the franchise building seems to work when they pick an out of the box character. Hell, the DCAMU started with the flash.
I was one of those people that said that the teaser to this teaser looked bad visually. No I'm not a Snyder fan that wants everything to be dark or gritty or has a problem with anything being bright...it just looked like Network TV with those shots of the people looking up. This actual trailer looks great though. Not everyone is a hater just to be a hater. Although there were some HATERS in the chat jesus
Elevated horror is a silly idea because horror as a whole is great right now and there are tons of straightforward low-brow concept horror movies coming out that are really good today. The genre as a whole is flourishing across the board and have been for close to a decade now.
Snyder directing the authority and gunn writing it would honestly make a pretty sweet duo. Lowkey could give Snyder to work with the new Superman too. Weirdly wholesome.
I read somewhere that Jesse Eisenberg was originally meant to play The Riddler and had already adopted that Edward Nigma persona by the time he had been changed to Lex Luthor and refused to change his acting choices.
Sounds like a fan theory tbh. Eisenberg talked about his experience with that movie not too long ago, and I doubt he’d put himself through hell because of that
I would hope that they are willing to eat it to some extent on Superman. The brand is in the gutter. If it loses some money but it’s LOVED they should be okay with that. Because the goal should be to slowly repair the brand.
I think the reason you have Stagg, Max Lorde, and Lex in it is because the plot will center around Superhero’s being both the next arms race and the next big marketing opportunity. These billionaires will be racing to secure (or create) the ultimate Superhero, and then along comes Superman who just wants to help people. Add to that Stagg’s invention Metallo going horribly wrong, and Ultraman being evil and you have the opportunity for Superman to rise to the top as what a hero should be. Im guessing; - Stagg: Metallo - Lorde: Guy, Terrific, Hawk Girl - Lex: Ultraman - Waller: Flagg Sr. and his team
Clarks parents in Smallville ties and grounds him to Earth (Louis and friends as well duh) but they're not the reason he does what he does. He does what he does cuz he can, so he must. I agree completely that something like a heart attack killing one of his parents eventually is a great theme that he can't save or beat everything. My point is that Batman's thing is his parents dyeing and motivating him to do what he does. Superman does it cuz if not him who else is there... just my opinion great show!
@ riiight and we’ll have to see in July but i think those heroes are less “heroic” in this world. Until Supes shows them the way…you see what I’m saying?
This teaser trailer brought me to tears. I love MOS and Cavill but the MOS trailers never hit me in the heart like this trailer has. I've cried each time I watched it. Need to stop watching it again and again! Don't want the wife to see me like this! lol. I'm excited!
I honestly want Superman to make all the money but I think it's realistically going to make $350-$475 . I hope im wrong hell I want to be wrong but I think that's what it's making. Im going opening night and if it's good/great multiple viewing. Hell i thought the flash was really good and I went 3 times to the theater for that one. 🤞
The 360 number is based on tax rebate filings where they want the biggest possible number. Remember the stories that The Marvels was the most expensive movie ever made? It was not. Rebate claims are the only publicly available numbers but not correct as production costs and lead to a lot of bad reporting. The last Jurassic World movie had a UK tax rebate filing claiming a budget of over $500 million -- much more than Superman or The Marvels.
I agree with Mike when it comes to trailers if a trailer is effective after seeing it a few times if somethings stick in your head and give you energy from it the trailer did it's job
I absolutely loved Jesse Eisenberg as lex a completely different take on the character but I genuinely felt like he would murder Superman whatever it would take lmao.
I feel like I’m the only one that doesn’t think it’s Ultraman. And I think that thing in the background of Clark and Louis is a hologram and like not a threat, a party or something. I mean he’s holding a coffee cup…I’ve been wrong before though
That's probably when we'll see all the heroes too. Give them all cameos fighting the beginning monster then the rest of the movie can focus on Superman
Star Wars is my favorite franchise but it’s been a rough go for a long time. Lots of hits and misses going back as far as Phantom Menace. Skeleton Crew is pretty good, but my 10 year old daughter is reminding us to watch it every week. She’s really into it.
Will finish watching later, on 50 minutes through. Such a great convo so far. I forgot the actor was in Twisters….which I really liked. I LOVE Man of Steel, and I have my Blu Rays, soooo.
Ok hear me out, i don’t think one film will bring in huge numbers….i think the best option for WB is to commit to 3 movies deal and try to build momentum for a larger universe…there is no way I would expect the audiences to make this first film a huge success, as we still have Cavil still in our rear view mirror…but if this is a sleeper blockbuster then this is gonna be a good start for DC new universe
Eisneberg wasn’t a good casting. He was to twitchy. And it’s Michael Rosenbaum, and he was the best all around live action version. Michael Cuditz is a close second, considering he only been Lex for a season and a half, he did spectacular
I think you guys are misreading the Clark/Lois relationship from the trailer. That scene of Clark walking into the Daily Planet looks like it’s his first day on the job. And when he’s sitting at the desk and turns around to look at Lois, that clearly looks like the first time they lock eyes and the spark of romance begins. I didn’t interpret that as Clark reacting to something bad happening. Not sure why you guys did. Clark and Lois will not begin this film already together. We will see them get together throughout the film.
I kinda teared up when i seen this one, and i have no idea why? Maybe becuz of the old school theme song, or seeing the comics being more prominently shown...? Idk, but the trailer looked good.
It’s 2024. We’re 16 years and 30+ movies into the MCU, with countless other CBMs releasing from other studios. And we’re still having to listen to ppl preemptively complain about “too many characters”🙄🙄🙄
The MCU started out with one character at a time. They didn't start with Civil War and 20 heroes in one movie. The reason why Avengers was so big was because we finally saw multiple heroes together for the first time
Steph did not look well on The Whirl Girls last night. Food poisoning is no joke. Bummed she missed out on this great conversation, but glad she’s getting some rest today!
More of a Marvel guy however DC has some great characters and stories; I'm more so looking forward to Paradise lost, Clayface and others but this looks like the best superman trailer in a long time and one of the years best movies. With that said they are right Skeloton Crew has been pretty good so far and your right the leadership is the same and it's pretty good, not must watch. Star Wars is lack luster until Lucas Film leadership change
I was expecting more and a greater attachment to the trailer. I look forward to the build up and despite my initial sentiment I am expecting my views will change by release.
One of the few things from Star Wars that’s actually good with real fun characters and interesting mystery and your not watching!! That’s very telling where the state of the franchise is.
The trailer gave me goose bumps to the point I was whistling the theme song all day. The only thing I was not loving was the suit itself. Way to baggy like he lost weight and didnt bother to tailor his suit to fit.
I also don’t think it works, I know you guys think this is a hopeful Superman but the trailer is a very dark trailer with a couple of goofy scenes that make it seem like the 70s.
23:56 So, to the end of people complaining about the colors & not knowing what they’re talking about: I’ve seen comic artists that have been in the industry since the 90s making the same complaints. It’s not colored like something that’s meant to be taken as anything other than goofy on the big screen
Still don't understand why Cavil isn't playing Superman but the trailer already convinced me that Corenswet is gonna kill it as Clark. The trailer definitely gave me the feeling of hope but overall it was just mid to me. I got zero issues with Krypto being in the film but I just was hoping he'd be a normal dog ¬ super-powered. Don't need to see Superman &Lois making out multiple times &she kisses Clark so I'm assuming she knows who he really is which is a mistake to me. And I'm not showing the whole cast in the first trailer, I would've saved Lex &the other heroes for future trailers
I havent been this indecisive about a film/trailer i dont think ever. Its like i love it one minute and think its goofy 10mins later smhhhh like i wanna enjoy this and be on the upside but idk if its just my love for Cavill’s Supe or what but somethin just aint all the way there for me yet but hey I will say that yes I miss the Man of Steel, but I’m down to give the boyscout thing a chance🤞🏼😬
Did Sean Gunn stand in for the dog - like he did for Rocket or Weasel?\ The kaiju looks like Byth the shape changing criminal that Hawkman and Hawkgirl tracked to Earth in Brave & Bold #34 (1961) which introduced them as policemen from Thanagar. Could also be we just saw Hawkgirl and that's why I'm connection it to Byth and that cover.
For me, Jesse Eisenberg, as Lex Luthor, was the first time I saw Jesse transform into a character, as opposed to just seeing him play himself, which is what I feel like he's doing for the most part when he's onscreen. I appreciated it, I liked it, and it made me appreciate Jesse more as an actor.
I’m biased cause Henry will always be my superman. I think man of steel is a masterpiece and its criminal he never got a proper sequel. That said, David Corenswet looks like a good superman and the trailer looks pretty damn good. Some goofy stuff in it, a little concerned with so many characters, but overall i think the movie could be really good.
Saw #Sonic3 this might the best one out of the Bunch and I saw guy who saw the movie too had a Tails puppet it was cute!!! 10/10! Perfect way to end the year. Btw Sonic 4 was Announced for 2027 Also there’s two post credit scenes that people are doing to lose there minds
My first look at any marketing for this film. It looks like its going to be a mess. Are we getting 1970 super man, man of steel, or thor thundrddtuck when the whole thing comes out?
You guys act like we saw supermans origin as many times as batman or spiderman and we have only seen it twice lol once in 1978 and again in 2013 lol its been over 10 years now since we have had a live action movie of superman. I wouldnt mind seeing james gunn take but unfortunately he agrees with your guys section of fans.
Doesn't hit right. Looks low budget, cartoonish. Like superman showed up into unbreakable's universe. Worryingly reminded me of the Flash. This wont end well. It will make enough money for a sequel but cant support long term universe.
I feel like it needs to be clarified, but they’re not actually using the actual John Williams theme. They’re giving nods to it in the new theme, but it’s not actually his theme they’re using. I’m not sure why I see so many people online saying that.
Kristian hates when I say this but i’ll say it again. I don’t think they’ll use any variation of the Williams’ theme in the actual movie. I suspect they did this just for the teasers/trailers. I’m actually hoping they use a brand new score for the film.
@ all Superman themes in history have had similar beats and rhythms to them. I like what they did here because it’s not the exact same as the other couple that have been made, but it’s sort of similar.
The Fellowship has 9 people and then you have a dozen of supporting characters from gollum to treebeard, worm tongue and Galadriel. I don’t see why people are so worried about Gunn using multiple characters. I think it’s cool we have interesting characters being used; rather than swat guy number 3, we get guy gardener.
The too many characters concern is kinda silly. Most movies have a lot of characters. The only difference here is that you recognize the side characters. It’s like being concerned that Oppenheimer has too many characters because we see Albert Einstein in the trailer. Lol
My only issue is after 6 movies of Superman in one single style I was glad to see another take that (I disagree) wasn't darker and still had hope all over it. To go back to the old well is leaving me undecided.
Days like this i miss Schnepp. Imagine how Sweaty he'd be getting. I'm pumped for Superman
Man Schnepp would be losing his sht. 🥹
My guy would have loved to see JLA
I think what worries people is those movies had build ups…I’m not sweating it either
That was different. Those movies were designed to be ensembles and they came out when the MCU was already pretty far along. With Superman, it's the first movie in the DCU and it's specifically about him. Putting too many other superhero characters in it could be a problem if not handled well. I wouldn't say anyone's "sweating" per se, just a mild concern. That said, I trust that James Gunn knows what he's doing, so I think it'll be fine.
All those characters were already established over like 20 movies before those though.
@@ZachBobBob Never hjeard of a supporting cast before?
“Take me home” made me blink away a tear or two.
Nah. So cringe. Bet you there gonna play fuckin country roads in the movie as well, typical Gunn bs
The entire trailer gave me a bit of a tear tbh. I think it's the old school theme music that got me, lol
Why ? Just curious .
That’s what Gunn is doing, after Supes being raked over the coals these past years
“Can you pause the show for a quick second?” 😂
I like his parents being alive as well. Shows your parents don't have to die to push them to be a hero. I love that when he gets lost out there he sometimes comes home to Mom and Dad to get advice. Loved it ❤
Except his parents *did* die and it played into him becoming a hero
I grew up with reeves. Loved Henry but its time for Corenswet baby. Real DC fans should love this trailer
I’m a fake DC fan and I love it!!
Missed the live show. Mike FTW! 🎉🎉
Superman looks great!
Not been this hyped after seeing a trailer since the first Spiderman: No Way Home trailer. Superman!!!
Clark’s parents being alive is not something different actually. They’re alive in the comics. Pa Kent’s death was Donner’s thing.
Yet ppl act like the Pa Kent death is intrinsic to Superman story, like Batman's parent death is.
Great trailer. Krypto warmed my heart and the kid with the flag instantly made me tear up.

Skeleton Crew is awesome. I really think you are missing out but as they say different strokes for different folks! ✌️
I feel like this Universe needs a separate Batman, and I agree with Mike, it needs to be Blue and Gray.

Clark's appearance and mannerisms remind me of the British comedian Richard Ayoade, probably most famous for "the IT Crowd".
One of the few things from Star Wars that’s actually good with real fun characters and interesting mystery and your not watching!! That’s very telling where the state of the franchise is.
$750 mil is the breakeven low end. $1.5 bil high end. $600 mil box office would be catastrophic.
The trailer gave me goose bumps to the point I was whistling the theme song all day. The only thing I was not loving was the suit itself. Way to baggy like he lost weight and didnt bother to tailor his suit to fit.
Good trailer.....
I thought skeleton crew was extremely forgettable.... Andor, I'm looking forward to
I also don’t think it works, I know you guys think this is a hopeful Superman but the trailer is a very dark trailer with a couple of goofy scenes that make it seem like the 70s.
What do you mean? They’re starting the whole universe over.
Did Sean Gunn stand in for the dog - like he did for Rocket or Weasel?\
The kaiju looks like Byth the shape changing criminal that Hawkman and Hawkgirl tracked to Earth in Brave & Bold #34 (1961) which introduced them as policemen from Thanagar. Could also be we just saw Hawkgirl and that's why I'm connection it to Byth and that cover.
Baum…Michael Rosenbaum not berg lmao
I am worried that there might be too many characters.
But thts James Gunn who can handle these mny characters
For me, Jesse Eisenberg, as Lex Luthor, was the first time I saw Jesse transform into a character, as opposed to just seeing him play himself, which is what I feel like he's doing for the most part when he's onscreen.
I appreciated it, I liked it, and it made me appreciate Jesse more as an actor.
1:58:24 No he is a terrible director. I fail to see why he has this cult like following
Number 5 from umbrella academy for either Damien or Dick
My thoughts after watching the trailer... "They got CW Superman & Lois canceled for this!?".

Mike you are a national treasure. Top tier chemistry between you guys
It won't bomb. It'll do well, how well is the question.
Saw #Sonic3 this might the best one out of the Bunch and I saw guy who saw the movie too had a Tails puppet it was cute!!! 10/10! Perfect way to end the year. Btw Sonic 4 was Announced for 2027
Also there’s two post credit scenes that people are doing to lose there minds
Lantern looks like Stewart from mad tv
lmao mike saying elon is on the spectrum was great
Its Rosenbaum Kristian lol
"The Karate Kid: Legacy", "Sinners", "Predator: Badlands" and "Michael" is my most anticipated movies for 2025. All the rest can wait for streaming.
Is Michael the name of the MJ
Man of steel was too dull...
this ones too bright...
I hate myself
My first look at any marketing for this film. It looks like its going to be a mess. Are we getting 1970 super man, man of steel, or thor thundrddtuck when the whole thing comes out?
You guys act like we saw supermans origin as many times as batman or spiderman and we have only seen it twice lol once in 1978 and again in 2013 lol its been over 10 years now since we have had a live action movie of superman. I wouldnt mind seeing james gunn take but unfortunately he agrees with your guys section of fans.
I liked all of this except for Krypto the superdog and an overstuffing of other super characters. That really worries me.
Wow!
$363.8 million
I miss the Man of Steel but I’ll give the Boyscout a chance
It's obvious they're going for the dumb looking alpaca hair style kids are doing these days. Surprised they didn't get that.
The too many characters concern is kinda silly. Most movies have a lot of characters. The only difference here is that you recognize the side characters. It’s like being concerned that Oppenheimer has too many characters because we see Albert Einstein in the trailer. Lol
Trailer is a B-
Why does the dog have a cape?
Because he does in the comics. He's from Krypton
@peteparker22 what is the practical purpose??
@@txsiimkwhat’s the practical reason for Superman to have a cape?
@@txsiimk It’s comic books dude nothing is practical.
Did Superman crack a smile in this trailer?
My only issue is after 6 movies of Superman in one single style I was glad to see another take that (I disagree) wasn't darker and still had hope all over it. To go back to the old well is leaving me undecided.
