You have a TON of a ephemera!!!!! I can see these books would be good if not crowded, like yours. You need at least 2 or 3 more to spread out your things. I found some plastic pockets at the thrift store I may try to use to make one of these. Also, I have a photo book I thought about using to separate my stamps!!! I never thought about using the sheet protector pages. GREAT idea!!!!!!! Love your videos!!!!!!
Practicality wise, I think this is a much better idea than having to open tin after tin after box and then play the memory game as to which tin/box had that piece you were wanting. A quick flip-through is much faster and less to have on your workspace.
I use photo albums of various sizes. I decorated the covers and tweaked the pockets to make it easier to retrieve the small pieces. For someone like myself who doesn't sew, it made the process very easy.
Hi I also used plastic photo album pockets. I pages that had 4 pockets. Cut them so I had 4 individual pockets carefully. Then I glued them on an old school agenda. Depending on the type of album page you can adapt so not too bulky. Used a strong glue. For the really small I bought sheets you use for baseball cards collection and since they have the 3 punches. Just put them in a binder. Good luck
I, like others, use a photo album and it works pretty well, but I find myself not remembering and forget to use it. I love your ideas, and may adopt some of your page ideas on pocket sizes and incorporate them into my book. Thanks for the inspiration. Hugs from MN>
Hi from Western Tennessee 2024. I just found your channel, love how you chose the papers and put them together. With having a huge amount of ephedra too, i think i would make several books by filling one with only floral, another with only paper dolls , another with tickets, stubs, verbage, etc. Evwn choose a certain colour for different types. I guess i better get going on my ideas, time us wasting. Thank you for your video.
I’m watching this for the 1st time about 18 months after you posted it BUT it’s still relevant. Loved your demonstration, you did wonderfully & your floss color choice for the binding was pretty! Thx for sharing.
I made one of Gayles. I use it a lot. BUT I need to make another one, and I love you version also. I have tons of page dividers. Thank you for sharing with us. Hugs
Hello Barbara! I just watched an older video of you creating your ephemera holder book. It is wonderful, and you did an outstanding job teaching how it should be constructed!! Sewing your pockets in was definately the right way to go...Gayle's glue did not hold the pockets in place. Excellent video and I enjoyed watching it! Thank you very much for sharing! Samantha
You did a wonderful job. I watch Gayle and decided to use a 3 ring binder instead. Like you I had a lot and got frustrated trying to figure out what should go with what. I walked away from it and had to reorganize it again, but all in all I do find things easier. And my time management is a lot better. A binder was better for me because of having so much. It’s nice though, because like Gayle I have it sitting in front of me to grab when needed.
Donna Snyder Thanks Donna! A ring binder is great because you can add pages 😊. I just wanted something more handy and I wanted it to look like a junk journal! I have been using it a little and I’m totally loving it! ❤️
That is great. I decorated the binder to look like a junk journal. I would have used one like you made but I would have to make like 10. Lol. Even though I’m new to junk journaling I have accumulated so much stuff from other crafts over the last 20 years. Either way I am glad you love it and its working out.
Ahhh.. perfect idea to get pockets on both sides of paper. I made one with pockets on one side of papers like Gaile did. I never thought to do this. I should've. Easy fix and beautiful too!! Great job!
Hi Sweetie it’s been awhile. I love watching Gayle too. If this helps you at all she uses tweezers to pull out the tiny emphemera from her emphemera storage journal. The tweezers works great. Don’t worry about the sewing Boo-Boo. Like Gayle says it only adds character to your journal. 🥰 🤗Hugs ❤️💞💕
Beautiful book.. Loved this video. Thank you for sharing. I also watch Gayle Agostinelli's videos. Made a junk journal using an existing hard cover book by tearing out pages, in one of her tutorials. Definitely going to try one like this one!
I love this! I also liked how you sewed around as that makes it sturdier and prettier. A gorgeous book. I would be interested to see if you are still using this.
Hi Barbara, I actually did the same thing yesterday but with a small photo album that I had just sitting around. I had about four folders with scrap all over the place lol and I decided to do something similar as you. It actually got rid of some clutter. Good job on the Ephemera Book. I will try this method as well.
I recently made two ephemera holders. I only wanted to use white cardstock (I have some 100# cardstock, which was great) because it would be difficult for me to see what I have if they're against decorative paper/cardstock. I just cut some strips of vellum in various depths and glued the strips onto a full piece of cardstock, used a 3-hole punch, and put the sheets into a soft-sided notebook. I have lots of labels, so one book is just for labels. It was great, because after I thought I was finished, I found another container of labels, so I just made a couple more pages and inserted them into the notebook. I also made a smaller one (6"x9" so I could just fold the white cardstock in half) and that one is for my postage stamps. I had no idea that I had so many postage stamps! I'm planning on filling one more full page notebook with my floral images, but I'm going to take a little break. I was overwhelmed a few times, too, even though each holder only held one type of ephemera, I had so much of each category that I had to try and figure out how to best separate them. I decided to separate the labels by artist and the stamps by color since that's how I'd look for them. I love them!
BlaizC Thanks for sharing your experience! Sounds like a good way of organizing your pieces! Of course it’s great if you can just add pages! Smart girl! 😊❤️
I had the same problem when I tried to sort the ephemera for my storage books. I guess you just sort it in a way that makes sense to you so you will be able to find it when you want it. Great job. I will be making another book soon. Thanks for sharing.
you did a great job, Im a newbie to all this too so your tutorial really helped. Do some more :) thanks ps. I love your little needle purse, so adorable
Nice tutorial and I like the "fast" version because, after all, there is a pause button if we want to LOL . I dont have a space for journaling and I get overwhelmed trying to organize it. Now I can give this a go and put finished "books" on a shelf. thank you
I know this video is a bit older, but I just found it through my swap group. Anyway, if you are in the states and are fortunate enough to have a Lidl or an Aldi store near you, you can sometimes find paper pads with European sized paper (larger than our 12x12s) for sale there - especially around the holidays. And thank you so much for the video - and Gayle too! - it's an awesome idea.
I thought of doing smaller ones and separate by themes, maybe that would help with the stuffed pockets😁How pretty they will be on the shelf with the pretty goodies inside‼️😍😍😍love your papers👍
Hi I am new here. As of yesterday I have been learning how to make your own ephemera books for storage. I stumbled across your videos and I think your great. Ty for teaching us your method. 🌺
I think I may try this. No way one book would ever hold all my ephemera, but maybe I can use to hold ephemera I don't get out much, like you were saying. And at the very least, it looks so cute!
What a lovely job, loving the ephemera journal. Hope you decide you like it and find it easy to use. It's inspired me to try, my ephemera is stored everywhere - tins, baskets, boxes, accordion folders - so I'd have to make more than one, but it looks like it would be worth the effort to have it all in one place. Let us know how practical you find it as time goes on, it would be interesting to hear. TFS!
Hi Barbara. I understand you being overwhelmed. I have alot of ephemera and have been thinking of making a book for them. Tell the truth, I'm already overwhelmed and haven't even started yet. Good work and thanks for sharing❣
ZoraMae Edmonds Thank you for you feedback! I must say once everything was in there and I started working with it a little I feel much better! I can really recommend doing it! Good luck! ❤️
I love it. I don’t think I would make one though simply because I don’t have that much to put in it. And I have yet to sew anything on my machine. But I think you would get great use out of it and I think it turned out so pretty. TFS! ❤️
I love it! I now have a great way to take some ephemera with me in a beautiful book when I go out somewhere with my travel journal enjoying the day . Thanks for the great ideas. Also the needle book is so very cute.
I file my ephemera by where it came from. A purchased digital kit with ephemera would have all extras sorted together. Happy mail by whom sent it. For some reason my brain remembers what I have and where to find it. I have butterfly from many sources none are stored together. Happy day.
oh, if youre overwhelmed with too much ephemera, you could always send it to me, I can only dream to have so much beautiful ephemera lol...I am trying to make some from scratch...i love it
I think you did an excellent job making and filling your ephemera keeper. I need to do something similar, because I’m just beginning to build up quite a stash! I did enjoy your video!🙂
49dragonflies I am so glad. 🙂. Your system holds so many nice sizes, and the way you put it together looks so nice. I do not have a lot of large papers, yet I think at first I’ll just try using file folders to build my book. It won’t be pretty, but everything will be together. I’m buying downloads so want to keep extra pieces together. Thanks for telling me it’s working for you!
This was a good idea I would like to try myself. I appreciate you sharing your process and reasoning behind the organization. Congrats on your new etsy shop. I took advantage of the freebies but I know I will be back....you featured some great items.
This looks great and like you I am curious about the practicality of this, but anyway it does give a better overview of all the small bits. I need to organize also, thank you for the inspiration. Have a lovely day sweetie🥰😘
Practicality would be that you can take it traveling with you. Unlike my ephemera is all in plastic drawers. I’d like to have a traveling ephemera booklet. .i can restock it many times with all that have. Take a junk journal and a ephemera booklet in your travel book. I love this idea
I love this tutorial for an ephemera book.. I had made one previously, but I made it too small. I'll try your method out and Im sure that it will be just fine. But... when do I stop collecting ephemera??? I don't think that I can stop 😉
I have a ton of these plastic wallets so why didn't I think to use them, brilliant... So I'm not really much of a sewer I think I would glue them in. I did get some cereal boxes from my Mum and use the insert where the cereal goes in it to use as I wanted to make a postage stamps book like yours. I'm thinking of doing that but could be adapted to use for ephemera. Not sure about the depth of the pockets though 😁😁 I'm might try it out coz my ephemera is all over the place and I forget what I've got... It would be great to have cut out pieces in. But I do like my tin for small stuff. I suppose you could have a different one for each size small, medium, large etc. So many possibilities but definitely going to give it ago... It does look pretty 🌹🌼❤️
Chattylaine Creates Thank you Elaine! It is proving quite handy and I already feel like I’m using pieces I would have forgotten about! I hope you make a video if you make one or show the finished product 😊❤️
@@49dragonflies oh yes I will show it when I've done it. Not going to make it on film though as it will be a bit of a make it up as I go along... Ha ha... 😁😁😁❤️
Hi Barbara, love the tutorial ( also watched Gayle's video) I think I shall have a go at making some of theses, they are so pretty and are better than having them in little plastic containers as I have now, thanks for that inspiration ( and Gayle also) xox
Your work is always so beautiful and inspirational. I love the idea of a book but 1) I don’t know where I could get paper that size, 2) I have a ton of ephemera and 3) I totally understand the ability to easily pull out pieces to use. I love it tho, so maybe it’s worth a try.
I just love that. Your paper colors are so pretty. I liked how it looked like fabric. The needle book was so cute. What a nice gift you received. Thanks for sharing.
Hi I'm here from Seapanda Crafts! She had a great journal and showed her ephemora book which you inspired so I enjoyed this tutorial very much and plan to do one for myself! Thank you! I subbed too :)
Loved the video! I enjoy concise videos, as well, and your narration was perfect. I, too, have wondered whether I’d like these books, although I like the IDEA of them, so I’ll be curious to hear how it goes for you. New subscriber here!
I so enjoyed watching this! I am actually trying to avoid cleaning my space so I’m watching videos! Lol! I’m curious now that some time has passed how you are feeling about this idea. I do have little stuff of itty bitty bits stored all over so this is intriguing! Maybe I’ll stop watching videos for now and avoid cleaning by creating a book like this instead! 😉
Didi Roche Thank you Didi! I can totally relate, I do that all the time (videos or crafting instead of cleaning 😂). I’m still loving this ephemera folder! I have update it many times switching ephemera that I want to use and I do find that I use pieces that I would otherwise not have used. Go make one, who needs a clean home! 😂😂😂
I always enjoy your videos! I have 4 ephemera journals, and I love using them. I really should sit down and do some organizing, but so far I still enjoy the thrill of the hunt. It is very nice to have them within my reach. I liked seeing how you made yours, I posted a video of how I made mine, I tried to really simplify the sewing bit.
Hi, I think this project turned out great. It would work for me as I'm a beginner and I don't have too much stuff yet. Thanks for sharing your time with us. I also follow Gayle. 😃
Follow Gayle and make more than one. Maybe make some larger pockets in book #2 for your tags. I think this would work for me it's a visual thing and right now all my ephemera is in individual bins and boxes. You really made this cute and I like pretty in my craft space. Nice job........ If you find after a year you still have not used some of the pieces take them out and gift them to someone. It's a good way to keep your stash manageable.
Kathy Guenther Thank you Kathy! I will probably have to make another one or challenge myself never to have more than fits in one 😃. That’s a good idea to gift them if you don’t use them after a certain time 👍🏻❤️😘
Your thoughts are the same as mine! I wanted all my ephemera in one place, and I have trouble sorting it too... When they cross over categories that's when I get stuck!!
Louisa Vevers Despite my doubts about the practicality of this, I’m already loving using it! Once everything was in the pockets I felt much better! 😊❤️
It came out great! I like how they all looked in the book, but I noticed you said you don't use them as you prefer rummaging through bowls/containers instead...I think I'd just want to make an ephemera book just for fun even if I don't use it. :)
Hm. Gute Idee. Ich glaub, ich geh jetzt Kekse kaufen.)
Scissors and Smiles hihihi. Du hast recht, sind wirklich ähnlich wie diese Keckspackungen 😂😂😂. Die sind leider nicht so praktisch wie sie aussehen, aber sie großen Laden sind genial!!!
This looks like a great idea. I have mine all stored in different places too and I get overwhelmed when trying to decide where to put something - especially if it fits in two categories. Does a pink flower go in the pink section or the flower section? I'm glad I'm not alone in this!
First of all, I hated that paper. It was beautiful, but certainly not my usual style. Of course these are the differences that make artists unique. HOWEVER, although I still don’t like the paper by itself, I have to say your vintage ephemera on top of the beautiful paper is fabulous. I. Love. It. It turned out wonderful and very aesthetically pleasing. I’ve made one as inspired by Gayle and should make more. It was a lot of fun but there was certainly a learning curve. Lol. I made mine with onion skin paper which I will (probably) never do again. Lol. And I made the cover have four full length pockets. As always, beautifully done. 🙂🙂🙂🙂
You have a TON of a ephemera!!!!! I can see these books would be good if not crowded, like yours. You need at least 2 or 3 more to spread out your things. Thanks! I also have an updated one: th-cam.com/video/p0MP2yprw1g/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BI2Q315SI73Dmn2O
Practicality wise, I think this is a much better idea than having to open tin after tin after box and then play the memory game as to which tin/box had that piece you were wanting. A quick flip-through is much faster and less to have on your workspace.

maud hiemstra Thanks sweetie, I’m already loving it! I can totally recommend it! 😊😘❤️
Practicality would be that you can take it traveling with you. Unlike my ephemera is all in plastic drawers. I’d like to have a traveling ephemera booklet. .i can restock it many times with all that have. Take a junk journal and a ephemera booklet in your travel book. I love this idea
Beautiful! I think once you start using it you’ll decide it’s actually quite convenient. Of course you’ll sort and re-sort, but that’s the fun part. 😊
BooBoo Kitty Thanks! I have been using it a little and I’m actually quite enjoying it! 😊
What a handy item to have! It is also beautiful. Thanks so much.
I love this tutorial for an ephemera book.. I had made one previously, but I made it too small. I'll try your method out and Im sure that it will be just fine. But... when do I stop collecting ephemera??? I don't think that I can stop 😉
😃❤️
This is ephemera paradise😍
Diane Duncan Thanks Diane! I use mine every day and love it so much! Enjoy making yours! ❤️
This so genius! I have an idea in mind which might be in a binder. Great idea to see the ephemera and have it at your fingertips!
Beautiful papers
Amazingly beautiful. I am new to this but realized I have so much ephemera. I keep it in trays which are not great for moving from room to room.
I think u will love it. I saw Gayle's also I've been wanting to make one
Sheza CraftyOne Thank you and you are right, I’m already enjoying using it! 😊😘
I love your ephemera book and of course, all your beautiful ephemera! Fun video!
Marcia Porcelli Thanks Marcia! I’m actually enjoying using it already 😊
Your work is always so beautiful and inspirational. I love the idea of a book but 1) I don’t know where I could get paper that size, 2) I have a ton of ephemera and 3) I totally understand the ability to easily pull out pieces to use. I love it tho, so maybe it’s worth a try.
Carla Allen Thank you Carla. Maybe a ring binder would work better for you? It did turn out to be practical to use! 😊❤️
Thanks so much Chrissy! I just checked out her video 😊. Welcome to my channel, I hope you find lots of inspiration here! 😃
Loved the video! I enjoy concise videos, as well, and your narration was perfect. I, too, have wondered whether I’d like these books, although I like the IDEA of them, so I’ll be curious to hear how it goes for you. New subscriber here!
Hello and welcome to my channel! 😃 I still use this, but not as much anymore, but aim not sure why....
That turned out super cute as always. Thanks for sharing with us!
Caders 08 Thanks so much! I’m enjoying using it too! 😊😘
Can’t wait to try this!
Thankyou for. Sharing this experience. I agree so much ephemera gets overwhelming. You did a great job. So. I think I may do one as well😍
Shirley Bowers Thanks Shirley! Now that everything is in the pockets I’m loving it! 😊❤️
Well ir sure does look beautiful! You did a great job 😉
Let us know how it works for you 🤗
Thanks for sharing this with us 💞
creArtive by nature Thank you! I’m loving it already! 😊❤️
Katheryn Thames Thanks Katheryn! I’m loving it so far! I will check out your video ASAP! ❤️
I so loved this idea and will give it a try, I also have my ephemera all over my studio ( out of sight ,out of mind) thanks for sharing
Thank you Donna! Great that this was helpful! 👍🏻❤️
I love your choices, it's very pretty and nicely done!!
Hi, I think this project turned out great. It would work for me as I'm a beginner and I don't have too much stuff yet. Thanks for sharing your time with us. I also follow Gayle. 😃
The paper look amazing 💕 💕 💕 great Journal 👍
I do appreciate concise videos VERY MUCH :)
Finding you was perfect I am starting a journal and didn' g know where and how to start! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful work!
Jan S'field Thank you Jan! I’m happy this video was helpful! Have fun with your journal!
I love how you made it.
That’s a good idea to gift them if you don’t use them after a certain time 👍🏻❤️😘
Hi Barbara, hope you're ok. I found this fascinating and can't wait to see if you actually use it!
Puddytatpurr Thanks. I have been using it and I love it!! 😊❤️
@@49dragonflies So you've had it a while - do you think the plastic you used from the folder pockets are strong enough? They haven't torn?
Puddytatpurr they have not torn, it it’s tricky to have really small pieces in these pockets as you need tweezers to get them out.
Love it and how it looked after you put everything in it. TFS! 😊❤️
@@49dragonflies that's good to hear. It's on my project list.. I'll make a video once I've made one.
Louisa Vevers great, pls send me the link once it’s up! 😊
I really love the idea! I don't have much space so this will help me with my things, even if isn't so practical. Thank you for sharing!!!!
Tatijane Araújo Thanks Tatijane! Surprisingly so far I’m loving mine so I can really recommend it! 😊❤️
Love it...I would think it would be practical...😻
Thank you for sharing this beautiful book it's a great idea
I loved it, I love having my stuff together as well, so I will try, thanks for sharing 😍
You make such wonderful videos. Thank you for being real. Your book you made is awesome BTW ;0)
Laura Hale Thank you Laura! I’m loving my ephemera book!
It came out great! I like how they all looked in the book, but I noticed you said you don't use them as you prefer rummaging through bowls/containers instead...I think I'd just want to make an ephemera book just for fun even if I don't use it. :)
Haha go for it. 😃❤️
Scissors and Smiles Ich Danke dir!
Hm. Gute Idee. Ich glaub, ich geh jetzt Kekse kaufen.)
Scissors and Smiles hihihi. Du hast recht, sind wirklich ähnlich wie diese Keckspackungen 😂😂😂. Die sind leider nicht so praktisch wie sie aussehen, aber sie großen Laden sind genial!!!
Ohhh!! I love this so much, this is EXACTLY what I need! I’m going to make one tomorrow, I can’t wait, thank you so much!!
Great job! Enjoyed!
Great way to get ephemera under control! TFS the inspiration!
This looks like a great idea. I have mine all stored in different places too and I get overwhelmed when trying to decide where to put something - especially if it fits in two categories. Does a pink flower go in the pink section or the flower section? I'm glad I'm not alone in this!
RobinfromCA thanks. You are definitely not alone with this! 😊. I love how they are organized now! It’s working for me! 😊
So pretty, I cannot wait to make one. Thanks so much for sharing 💞
Austin Arnold I’m sorry you hate the paper! 😬
Lol meant in good fun, I hope you know that. Your finished project is beautiful ☺️☺️☺️
Love it. I think it will be very useful. Love it 💕
Andrea Wenke Brauner Thanks, they have already proven useful! 😊 Love them! ❤️
Great idea!
