Hey Johnny, good to see you today. This is an epic story. Few people understand what an injury like this does to your body and mental state. I tore my PCL, LCL, ACL, PLC, biceps tendon, peronal nerve, and plateau tib in one injury. Your experience and mental state is the only one that has ever resonated with me. Like the shower scene. Just the work to get in and out of the shower with no ligaments was overwhelming. The dangle. The multi surgery staging. The missed seasons. The unknown of what recovery would allow. Feeling like I let my family down. On and on… it’s deeper than most people know. Similarly, the pure joy of being in the mountains again makes me cry sometimes. I enjoy it more. Keep moving forward. Thanks for sharing your experience.
You are a legend and an inspiration. I am currently day 3 post ACL reconstruction and your videos are reminding me that full recovery to charging on skis again is possible. I love the note about the change in your perspective to do the things you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t. Would love to hear more about the goals and aspirations!
Thanks for the insight Johnny, I tore my patellar tendon, acl and lateral meniscus 2 weeks ago at mammoth and now on the road to getting back to skiing. I have the second surgery in October, same timing it seems like you were in. I tore my acl in my right leg before and my quad tendon in my leff and recovered from those and now it’s onto this Probably won’t ski next season but I’m thinking 2025 I’ll get back on the slopes. I’m going to use this as inspiration, thank you sir.
My knee surgery is coming...... John, you are always pushing the limit and no matter how physically and mentally you are prepared but at that level, sh..is always waiting to happens. Man take care and be present in the moment. Absolutely stocked by for will power!
I have been following you since my first torn ACL which happend about a month or so after your 1st and am about to go into my second. You are a inspiration man, appreciate you sharing your experience.
Having gone trough 9 months of recovery after an ACL and meniscus surgery, I can't even imagine how tough this journey must have been. 9 months after the initial reconstruction and one month after the follow up mobilization and removing of scar tissue, I am still lacking a lot of range of motion (10 degrees of extension, 50-60 degrees of flexion) and noone really knows why, but the ROM I have now allows me to enjoy some easy skiing, biking and running, which just feels so good. Stoked to power through the rest of the process and stoked to see you back on skis. Take care. That crash looked soo gnarly.
Watching this after shattering half my T6 vertebrae this season. Feeling super lucky that I should be back next season. When you talk about losing your community and your identity I really felt that, got me misty-eyed
I just had surgery yesterday on a broken patella and countless fractures that pancaked my heel from a tragic car accident I was recently in. No idea what the timeline truly is for recovery, but my hopes are to be back on skis next year. I told them I was gonna go "Johnny Collinson" on the rehab and they looked at me confused. Lol. I had to explain that you are a pro skier who has rehabbed a lot.. Thanks for the inspiration, man.
This definitely helps brighten my light at the end of the tunnel, thank you so much for sharing. Seeking out inspiration has been essential for keeping my perspective healthy, surgery is hopefully in a few weeks and I can't really walk right now. I remember seeing this months ago and was stoked I could go back and re-watch your story. Thanks John :)
Honestly you explaining your recovery journey/growth mindset is more intriguing and motivating than any epic skiing video. Thank you for sharing and good luck in your new life chapter😤🚀
Coming back from my first ACL tear. 9 months today. Watching your videos gave me so much inspiration to get after it and come back. Thanks for showing us mortals the way 🤝
Been through some serious knee surgeries and that feeling of life stopping and being stuck in bed is hard to describe. Way to fight through man, what an inspiration.
These days I’m in the gym non stop doing prevention training trying to stay ahead of future slams. Your rehab vids on insta are so sick. Keep sharing please! And enjoy being back on sticks 😁
the mental test of coming out of a serious ACL season straight into this gnarly recovery must have been incredibly challenging. I appreciate you sharing that story, and I bet there is even more you can do to share that with others who may be struggling with a similar situation; or not IDK haha not my story or journey to take.
Bro how strong humen you are no words keep doing this you are big inspiration to me I cant wait for your new projects new films stay strong Grettings from Kosovo-Albania
Giving me incredible motivation after hip surgery! Kinda strange feeling to miss out a season with the homies… Thanks and keep on with the inspiring work!
This is great! Such an inspiration! I went trough acl and meniscus too 7 years ago and now being diagnozed with severe cartilage damage on my same knee was hard, and still is. How do you deal with your cartilage?
John, please share more knowledge from Red Bull performance lab. We can all benefit from this. I am struggling to regain proprioception. Please share more - we love you for it
Dude, you are an inspiration not a failure. I’m so proud of you and how you’ve bounced back from all this. Absolute legend. X

I'm happy to see how you've strengthened your mind more than your legs. Perspective is everything and that's what stands out the most here to me.
The mental component was by far the hardest. Thanks so much for the support.
