Man you are making me want a grom more and more lol. Cam install didn’t look too bad from the bits we saw. The bike is def sounding good. Yea a 10% increase ain’t nothing to skoff at!
For future reference, you can use a screw driver to help pry the gear on. It’s pretty east then. Just wrap the screw driver or,something so it doesn’t scratch the engine case you’re prying against.
My 6'3"- 190 lb son has an old 4spd Grom. He could go faster in 3rd than he could in 4th! So, he got a new drive sprocket that's 1 tooth smaller, and WOW! His Grom will now do 64 on the flat and 69 with a tailwind! I got to ride it and 69 on a Grom is lotsa fun!
I keep hearing that the 14t really makes a difference in that 4th gear, if I'm against a wind I lose speed in 4th and I fear I'm killing my bike going wot in 3rd gear for 50+mph
@@antoniocastano97 It's now geared better for his size and weight. He has better acceleration AND better top speed... This is a stock 4spd Grom with Straight through glass pack exhaust and custom air cleaner with funnel intake.
Do you have aftermarket intake and exhaust also? On my 2022 Monkey, I have installed DHM Cam + chimera intake + yoshi Rs3 + DHM tune and gained 7 mph on the top end. And the bike can accelerate on uphill like you mentioned.
Cool install IBR 😎 Did your Power Vision tuner offer a specific tune for the newly added DHM cam? Sounds like it bumped your power up in the low to mid range rpm. That will defiantly get you off the line quicker and give you that extra boost in the mid range. Top end probably falls depending on the hp/torque curve. It’s difficult to find the right balance but it sounds like that little thing is a ripper for around town commuting. Now you got all that on tap power, for having a wheelie machine! 🏍🔥😎
If you change your handlebars, man would you love how that rides more. You can get protapers that sit at that same height but a bit straighter. Way more control
You didn't line the cam up to top dead center. That little notch on the cam sprocket lines up with an indicator on the inside of the cylinder head. This is done when putting the cam chain back on.
I have intake exhaust and dhm tune and it's alot better. My top speed still stinks. But it's got more torque and go! Definitely feels like a 15% increase
@@IronBornRider I don't think it made a huge difference. Low end seems to have more pep. Top end seems somewhat the same. Like you i need to ride it more. You got a new tune for it right? Does it need time to acclimate?
@@IronBornRider Ok ok...what can you do with that Powervision? Can you AutoTune? Can you adjust those levers? Not a Grom...but very similar. I'm going to do a video on Friday about it.
Get the tune for your mods it will wake it up more you will have a higher redline and new fuel maps for the ecu (it’s probably running lean at the moment with is not good for the long run . ) but good luck just what i know two friends with stage 3 set ups recommend stage two for what you have)
I bet when you get a different tune on there it perks up even more, enjoyed the vid but that 5.70 a gal gas scares me. I plan to take my short bus out west this summer, sounds like its gonna be painful to my wallet lol
Deffinety need a tune dosent matter what you do to it unless you tell the computer you have changed something it's not going to run properly or even worse

Great tip
Hey, do you know what phone mount your using for this? Looks super convenient being slim enough to mount between the bar brackets like that!!

so after the cam install did you need to jump or reset the grom prior to installing the dhm flashed ecu or can it just be plugged in.
I flashed my ecu with my power vision tuner
How did you get a tune on the power vision for the cam?
I emailed dynojet with the mods on my grom and they sent me a tune.
The cam is a good upgrade but it’s really meant to be a supporting mod to the big bore kit
are you using the stock ecu tune or a custom tune?
it was a custom tune provided by power vision
Top speed won't change but the dhm tune from 8 to 10 k rpm the bike pulls pretty good yoy might want to try his tune

Yep I have intake and exhaust. I really think the difference is the tune as powervisions tune is generic

Thanks tet! I had to get dynojet to send me a tune for it, but it was a quick turn around. I’m slowly working my way to learning wheelies lol
Cam adds mid to high performance. If anything you’d lose some low end
Do you still have this bike?

Why do you say that? The video was likely shot after the engine was turned over after the job. Not directly after installing and timing the gear.

I’d highly recommend installing a cam. Relatively easy and completely changes the bike for the better
