    Spark have improved a lot from the 2018 models and seem to be on the up plus a little cheaper then the minichamps, minichamps seems to be on the decline a little bit

    Does this also relate in 1:18 cars aswell? I'm looking forward to getting the W11 1:18 mercedes but I'm not sure which brand to go with. I don't mind the absence of the base in the Minichamps one, but the lower front wing on the Minichamps is a plus to me.

    Yes absolutely agree with the colour problem, that’s why I buy spark w11, the minichamps got so many white tiny dots when we look closer. Moreover, if you look closer to the air box of the minichamps, the front of it is black but the real car is whole red Ineos logo. So spark did it right

    I asked Chatgpt about the color of mercedes w11. Here is the answer: "Yes, the Mercedes-AMG F1 W11 is primarily dark grey, not pure black. The color can sometimes appear very dark, especially under certain lighting conditions, but it is officially classified as dark grey with metallic elements, creating that distinctive look." So, what do you think?

  • @petercsato6742
    @petercsato6742 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Spark or Minichamps? There is no right answer for that question. It always depense on the actual models, as both MC and Spark release better and poorer quality models. Even from the same line, you might pick a better one, someone get a bad one. But, I think on long term you better off getting resin models, as they always will be more detailed. It is simply just easier to work resin than metal, that's why they are usually better.
    On the other hand, you will might get shocked by my next video. I have a Spark model and... they did a terrible mistake on that, and allegedly they make those kind of mistakes more and more often. Im talkin about uneven wings and things like that. Just as you mentioned, colour can be another thing that makes a huge difference. From that point of view, I think MC is more likely to get it right, but as your example prove me wrong, its not the case every time.
    MC is usually a little bit more expensive, but if you decide to spend that much on a model, you won't decide on that tiny difference.
    Competition, it is indeed a good thing for us, collectors, as the standard will be higher and higher. The down side is, the prices are going higher and higher too. About 8-10 years ago they were half the price compared to what they are now. And inlfation wasn't that much.
    My choice currently would be MC as they seem to be more consistant about quality. I would say if you get a faultless Spark, almost sure you get better quality, but that little gumble is always there. Quality check seems to be working better at MC as you never get a terrible car from them.
    Is this makes your choice easy? Probably not.
    My latest model, the 2020 Sakhir Winner Perez is a very nice piece and I wanted that from Spark as it comes with tge white hard Pirelli's, while MC is not race specific edition and the tyres are yellow, which I think is not that nice on the RP20 Racing Point. This detail was more important, than any potential little errors on the car. So we are really talkin about tiny differences.
    Great Video btw 👍

    • @NotKnoll
      @NotKnoll  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excited for your next video, they are definitely so close, I would also say MC, despite what I said in this video. I only briefly mentioned it in the video but I've always preferred the tyres on the minichamps, when the quality it so close it really is the little things that make the difference.

    I have always loved details from Minichamps, have been collecting them since 1996-1997. What made me change to Spark was bad decals quality on Minichamps. Of course I have experienced also issue with Spark, but not in same way as with Minichamps. In Europe Minichamps 1:43, cost about 79 euros, same size Spark costs 10-15 euro less. The range from Spark in 1:43 is also much, much bigger then Minichamps. Overall, Minichamps have to wake up, otherwise they will history.

    Minichamps has nicer Pirelli tyres the colour is brighter and appears more accurate more whereas the Spark has somewhat dull tyres. Minichamps Front wing sits closer to the ground whereas the Spark front wing sits higher off the ground. Spark has more finer detail such as screw hole indents holding body panels whereas Minichamps doesn't. The colours maybe a little more accurate on Spark depending on the model. Overall they're very close, for me the nicer Pirelli tyres and front wing heights are important. I've pre ordered both 1/18 RB16B Abu Dhabi from Spark and Minichamps.

    Spark 1/18 scale F1 cars, imo, are far better than the majority of Minichamps 1/18 scales out today. Resin versus metal. Resin captures details much better than metal. Minichamps produces some 1/18 scale F1 cars in resin but they are oddly about a $100 more than Spark models. I was told by a dealer that resin 1/18 Minichamps and Looksmarts are produced by Spark's manufacturer, Minimax. As far as 1/43s go, I find that Minichamps resin cars are better than their metal versions and Spark's similar resin versions.
