I bought a bottle of Jack Daniels and tied it to my bicycle carrier. I realised that if I fell off the bike, the bottle would break. So I drank the entire bottle before I rode back. Turned out to be a great decision because I fell off my bike several times on the way home
Jack Daniels is the only whisky I can drink like water. It's so smooth and delicious! I don't drink much or often, but if my buddy Jack is there - I'm all over it. And to the whole "it's not whisky, it's bourbon " crowd: well, yeah, that's what whisky from US is called. Trust me, I'm from Ireland
Jack Daniels is not a bourbon. Because it is filtered through 10 feet of maple charcoal. After that it becomes a Tennessee Whiskey. Watch "Chasing Whiskey" the guy on there tells you all about it :-) top o da morrnen t'ya
Bourbon isn't just American whiskey. It has certain guidelines it needs to follow in order to be called bourbon. There's actually a lot of different types of whiskey including rye whiskey, wheated whiskey, scotch of course, Tennessee whiskey, Irish whiskey, Japanese whiskey, Canadian Whiskey, Cognac, Brandy... these are all as wildly different from each other as they are from different spirits. To be considered "bourbon" it has to be made from mostly corn (at least 51% in the mashbill) and aged a minimum of two years. Then there's Bottled in Bond bourbons which have to be aged a minimum of 4 years. There's other distinctions but I don't remember off the top of my head
The importance of that cave's water is an exaggerated claim. All wine distillaries distill their water prior to mixing them with whisky & diluting the alcohol level to the acceptable level for consuming leaving it literally as a chemical free water. It is the same type of wicked logic the Arab traders used to play with the middle age's Europeans to trade their Indian spices for high prices. They made stories of giants protected spice gardens to justify their price tag. Same story goes with JD's cave water theory too!
Water hardness and PH levels contribute to the flavour of the whisky. Not the major factor, but it's taken into consideration nonetheless. Mineral content affect the fermentation process only, and don't end up in the distilled product. That's why water and yeast are more important in brewing beer than in distilling whisky. If you are going for the maximum alcohol yield and a flavor profile of lightly roasted malts and less acidic, then you have to use a soft water.
After drinking shitty alcohol for the last decade, I’ve finally acquired the taste for whiskey. Amazing amazing quality. That underground water is legit the holy grail. The fountain of youth. Insane how good your body feels and accepts this concoction.
Selecting corns and natural waters. Then combine them into mash. Then relocate the mash for fermentation with yeast. Charcoal helps mellow the taste. That is briefly how whiskey no7 is. Made.

I've become a Jack Daniel's man over the years, it's the only whiskey I can drink anymore. Don't care for Scotch, or Irish, don't care for Kentucky bourbon or Canadian whisky. Just give me a bottle of Jack and I'm a happy man. I call Jack Daniel's my ol reliable because no matter how many times I buy it, I know what I'm getting. Anytime I buy a bottle of a different kind of Kentucky bourbon, or anything else, I never know what the hell I'm getting, and usually I'm getting over priced swill.

Serious question. when the guy picked up the corn to show the camera. did he then have to throw away that corn he held or did he put it back in with the rest?
Yeah, think about those living on the streets when you go to your home, or the kids and adults that go without clothes when you spend hundreds on the new trendy fashion items. Don't act like you're a messiah.
It's fine. The company pays tax anyway, which goes back(most of it) to the people. Luxury clothes(or bags and shoes)/smartphones/fastfood are more wasteful.
I think JD and their Bourbon cousin JB are mighty fine whiskies. As good as anything Scotland or Ireland has to offer. Part of the appeal is the element of corn and coal but nevertheless, still fine. I salute you American Whisky producers! (From the UK).
