Enough for me to be able to play maps without crashing more than 1 per map or once every 2 maps, mind you I play Grand size maps, so it's as stable as it gets, heck even ERA will crash once through 1-2 Grand maps
Old WOG 3.58f is pretty abandoned and ancient at this point, it just serves as a core to a much bigger system - ERA3 Assembly. This is a powerful modding platform with hundreds of plugins available, you can shape your Heroes III to be anything you want it to be. I usually play with Third Upgrade Mod and Advanced Classes Mod (on top of minor mods like neutral difficulty mod or enhanced henchmen mod) Back in early 2000's this was indeed Heroes 3.5 as it borrowed many systems and assets from Heroes IV.
WoG is hilarious fun. It's HoMM3 on crack. There's no semblance of balance of any kind, and things can devolve into pure chaos very quickly. Every time I play it - it gives me a good laugh. Love it.

You might like 'Grims broken compass' from maps4heroes A 8 player map filled with Quests, epic loot, new heroes, dungeons, a functional store, and all of the teams have very different starts which gives it lots of replay ability!
Hell Barons will be available in Inferno towns but with a single one best use would be to turn it into an henchman, maybe for Dessa, that is still weak but has a great specialty. That way he will win fights without a ton of army and you can revive the henchman at any town, if you lose it. Adding to that, use cool creatures like Master Genies (Enchanters won't cast...) for main and super creatures like the Baron or an Azure for weak heroes you want to develop, since creatures need different amounts of experience to rank up according to their own level, so you want main to be able to develop his henchman and mediocre hero to trust on his from start, even if it never levels up. Best fits all henchman is no doubt sprites, so that stupid artie giving 24 at start of a new week can be pretty useful.
I have had the WOG version of H3 for many years, and I *STILL* don't understand all of it, LOL! :D I totally get that a lot of the good stuff from H4 was implemented--especially for the whole "commanders" thing--but everything else just seemed to bog a casual gameplay down. What I need to do is find some REALLY well-designed, super long campaign which was made specifically for WOG, and start some long-arse scenario that I'll probably only have time to play for a few hours every weekend (at best). GREAT STUFF, LEXIAV! The speed at which you think, take action, plan, and organize everything is astounding. Makes me wonder if you're a programmer. I've no idea. :)
Regarding upgrade from tier 7 to 8 you can setup before the game so they can upgrade automatically after spending one night in the hero garrison(not town).
Orb of inhibition has a cool feature if you keep it on miscellaneous slot, at the end of day 7, before you start day 1 it will ask if you want to free the jin in the orb and give you attack twice ability for a rondom creature that you have on hero, for the rest of the map. If you keep just behemonths they will attack twice, and after the become expert they attack 3 times
I love WoG! Its the only version of Heroes 3 i play now. I love the insane RNG of it. I love the fact that you could do a few this's and that's and suddenly you are MAJORLY op. I like the fact that an enemy hero can suddenly come and enter the fight with a seemingly impossibly powerful army because he had some grea RNG on his side. I love the third upgrades. I just find WoG immensely entertaining. The only thing i wish it had was a way to incorporate the factions and world objects from HotA.. That would be SO COOL! So cool.. I also wish for even more crazy creatures. I seriously would like creatures so strong the Azure Dragon would piss its scales. Imagine a creature, or creatures that there could ever only be one single unit of. I could imagine a unit called simply "Satan", for example, that you would have to do some CRAZY things to possibly recruit, and if you managed to do it, there could ever only be ONE Satan unit in the game. Wouldn't that be great!? Or a specific Dragon unit that has an actual name, instead of just "something" dragon. A dragon unit there could only ever be one of in the game.
Wow, love to see you playing WoG but you're late. Now there is something called Era III that includes most WoG and a bunch of new features, also rebalancing some of the others. You should definitively play that one next. P.S. Btw, the best way to use the Commander Artifacts on the hero is to get all slots filled, never choose that skill but have it visible and every time you find a new skill you want, you remove it, get a free slot and fill it with the new skill, then you equip the artie and bring the old skill to the front.
Another WOG feature I loved was that I could destroy buildings in the town and then ultimately make it with no structures and change faction at that point. Also building 2 buildings per move. I wish those were in HOTA
What HD+ tweak codes should I change to have the same settings as yours or maybe like HOTA? Like show unit's turn, replay after quick combat, quick auto combat while battle.... Pls send me your setting screenshots!

Also I went insane with the wog options. You almost went with the default ones. You should see how broken my modding on this map is.

What weaklings were telling that you can upgrade lvl7 dwelling in town to get the lvl8 creature?? Only way you can get more lvl8 creatures is you have to flag lvl8 dwelling outside the town and build upgraded lvl7 dwelling inside the town, this will be the more attractive place they moved to, they will join you in your town
So many possibilities to be explored with Lexiav in WOG, excited.
