Be warned... I, too, didn't think much of the show when first began watching it. BUT AFTER FIRST 10 MINUTES OF EPISODE 1... If you are into "slam-bang" fast-action show, this ain't it. But if you enjoy neural shows like myself, this show definitely is for you. I had thought it was just another "ho-hum" streaming TV show out of hundreds available about mysterious creatures preying upon people. After recently binge-watching Stranger Things 4, my senses had become dulled. But, I was so wrong about this show. So wrong... It has left me in fear and awe when watching. It is super suspenseful, scary, and addictive, always hungry for more. it is one mystery after another mystery - one intrigue after another - with your poor brain trying to connect the dots and make sense of it all. It has some momentary slow scenes (which show doesn't?) with backstories on major characters, but they are interspaced with heart-pounding moments. I was forced to binge-watch against my will (my brain told me to) all 10 episodes in less than two days. This show is like heroin. I don't say it lightly. If you have time to watch only one TV show this entire year, watch FROM and forget about all other shows. Wow... can't wait for Season 2.

I understand for the script to make a sacrificial lamb, it gives us clear understanding about Why and What. Anyway, the mother could just move faster to prevent anything or lock the windows with safe padlocks before hand? Let's say they were mean to be bµtchered for the audience! The scene was great by the way

How the hell this show hasn't gained any recognition till now, for christ's sake, it's been like more than a year since the Series came. No one even cares to talk about this epic horror show !
Maybe cause of the poor marketing, I guess and the streaming app they choose to put the show on. Nobody looks at those apps (epix) (MGM+). But yes very unfortunate, this is a dope show
The spikes didn't make sense to me at first but i get it now, THEY CAN'T RISK THEM TRYING TOO LONG! If they don't give up and nightfalls the towns people will know they will die , The towns people care about everyone even new people ALSO i am SO GLAD this show is related to people who worked on LOST, Its the same set up but fleshed out, they replaced the island with a town, the black smoke mystery with the monster things , the mystery is also then fleshed out just like on lost in unexpected ways the new arrivals like lost that changes the dynamic, the twists, the turns but you never know what is going on fully , but this is a FLESHED OUT version of lost, In lost it turns out the producers were stressed, they ended up coming up with "mysteries"that they did not pre plan so they were either dropped or didn't lead to where we thought, Without spoiling ANYTHING, just like in lost, this show is not ONE NOTE, it adds new mysteries gradually at a nice pace, and stick it out to season 2 , after a few episodes of S2 it picks up and becomes a faster paced mystery filled show that actually starts answering a tiny bit of questions , just enough to keep you hooked, I'M SO GLAD IT DID NOT GET CANCELLED AND season 3 is on its way i'm surprised i binged it at night lol i'm not scared of shows but I don't like constant depressing horror storylines and this didn't feel like that, they toed the line and its their's a few characters that are much better with their acting then most shows so they make you go YEAH YOU TELL EM, GO GET IT haha i love Donna she's an OG haha

This show is like you taking the movies The Shining and The Mist and combined with the tv show Lost. I think that combo is the best way to describe this series.

@@SevenFrom1 , I think the producers know that and won't make the same mistake again. I didn't watch Lost but I do know this show is very suspenseful and scary as hell. Let's judge this show on its own merit.
Aside from the excessive gore in the aftermath, the scene with the little girl bugs me so much. Like, why tf did the mom not run like hell and grab her before she reached for the window? The dumbass legit just stood there and said "That's not your grandma." She doesn't start to run for her until the kid is already opening the damn window. Also, why is it only the dad's fault that the window wasn't nailed shut? Even if he's a useless POS who isn't protecting his family right, you're telling me the mom isn't capable of hammering in a few nails? Hell, if I were that mom I wouldn't let a young child sleep in a room alone EVER in this place. The blame shouldn't have been 100% on the father. "A man protects his family" is so archaic, like 1950s. Alcoholism is a disease btw. (I'm really getting into the show, not to be totally negative but I just had to vent a bit on this.)

The show is really impressive and the writing improved a lot after that (only watched the first 4 episodes so far), but this scene really frustrated me. I was yelling at the screen at the mom who just stands there like a moron. 🤦♀️ I just listened to a podcast where someone did point out that the mom is equally to blame. I always tend to get into series years after they air and have no one to discuss it with, so I watch these videos.
If you watch the show you'd know one of the rules is to nail down the windows if a child is in the house to keep them safe. The husband was "punished" cause the rule is if your mistake hurts any of the others in the town(ie his wife and child by him not nailing down the window and being black out drunk) you'll be left in the box outside(which actually hasn't happened before). The town lives by rules to keep everyone safe. The sheriff actually tried to give the husband a talisman and let him live in the woods but he choose the box cause his wife and child are dead so no point in staying alive. Yall should watch more of the show, the sheriff is one of my favourite characters. He saw how broken the husband was and actually struggled with going through with the punishment. The priest is the one who told him to suck it up and put the husband in the box 😂 It's not really stupid writing, you just haven't seen the rest.
I expected more from this show. The writing felt a bit lazy in places. I guess the killing of the mother and daughter in the first minutes served to explain the mechanic behind the monsters. But it really doesn't make any sense for a child (who looks to be at least 8) to be dumb enough to open a window, when they now about the monsters and have already lived there for at least a couple of month.
@@Tintin35sar452 that's literally it. It seems stupid but kids really do make mistakes like that if left alone. That's why the town rule is to nail down the windows if you have a child as they're very susceptible to the creatures.

I think it's implied that monsters can mess with your mind, and that children might be more susceptible.
