In my opinion, Arcade mode - is the most important thing in every single fighting game. Since first fighting games, Arcade mode was the core, as they were the games themselves. Almost all fighting games told their stories through Arcade mode. The main reason for beating fighting game was exactly the final boss. It’s sad that modern fighting games developers don’t understand that thing: Tekken 7 Arcade mode was too short - five battles, including two bosses; Guilty Gear Arcades were trash since GGXrd; In SF6 character’s rival became final boss (same thing was in SF3 2nd impact & SF5, but in 2nd impact there was a secret final boss, and in SF5 for most characters final boss was M.Bison, so I’ll forgive that game) The point is - final boss must be in every fighting game and he must be the same for every single character, as he is the point, the core, the heart of fighting game.
SFV's "Arcade Mode" let you run a roster for every mainline game to that point, and eventually had all of the bosses as well. THAT was a neat thing. I also liked it's Survival Mode.
Ryo’s secret stage was really hard in Fatal Fury Special. Geese in Art of Fighting 2 was also a cheap boss but the feeling was awesome when you got to beat them.
4:43 Blazblue Takemikazuchi from Chronophantasma I think the most memorable Blazblue bosses are Unlimited Hazama & Mu-12 from continuum shift & Nine & Izanami from central fiction
M.Bison, Geese Howard, Shao Kahn, Rugal Bernstein, and Neo Dio come to mind...all annoying bosses to fight yet great villains to play as when they were playable 😈
Not really my favorite but the one I fought the most as a kid was Eyedol from Killer Instinct. I got pretty decent at beating him consistently with my best characters.
I wish fighting game bosses were challenging but engaging and had an actual strategy to beat like single player games. It always feels like you have to find a cheap way to win
The Exploit (tm) is usually a Plan B that lets players eventually get endings. Most bosses CAN be beaten by outplaying them with game mechanics, perhaps MK nonwithstanding. ...if you can temper yourself from over-reliance on said exploit.
Aggreed, many FG bosses in the arcsde days were designed to be overpowered quarter eaters, & many modern games unfortunatelly retain that "DNA", Hope more fighting games do bosses like skullgirls & smashbros, they do bosses with more traditional telegraphed chalæenges in FG pretty well
What is your favorite boss across all the fighting games?

I Like when the final boss is the guy that ruined the life of every character in some way or other
Another thing I loved was the KoF XI sub-bosses. There's SO MANY!!

AKUMA. the most popular & memorable fighting game boss
I have already created one OC that can as a fighting game boss myself.
I just finished playing Capcom vs SNK 2 and i beat both the super bosses Shin Akuma & Ultimate Rugal without continuing
4:44 Its pronounced "Blaze-blue"
Does anyone besides me even know about Leopaldon? :D
The giant hippo with a drumbeating wizard & a dog in its mouth?
Ofcourse, classic guiltygear character,
Leopaldon 4 strive !
Im surprised a boss fight maker isnt a thing in fighting games.
Buddy, a create a fighter isn't even a thing most fighting games. Why would you expect a create a boss mode? Lol
