I'm really glad this mini-series is still going. I'd love to see a lot more like this in Beam, not necessarily just offroad either. Building vehicles to a certain spec, and then competing them against each other across multiple episodes in various environments which both highlight their strengths and exploit their weaknesses. This is some of my favorite content out of yall right now
Right, i can see something like lucky dip races where the car pool is cars they have made in automation. Could work for either normal races or a jellycar/wonky setup event
Weird tuners, maybe. Like, do this but for tarmac cars and end up with a roster that looks like what you'd dream about after binging on FnF movies and meat lover's pizza.
Agreed, thinking a rally/rallycross tourney with long jumps and a full tarmac/gumball style tourney similar to the drag weeks only doing a 1/4 and 1/2 miles runs then some varied circuits possibly eliminator style for the last run.
Laddo for People's Choice. It was fun knowing that no matter what the event there was always the chance a yellow box of metal would come hurtling through at Mach 2 with its hair on fire and bury itself in the scenery.
_"Tonight, we drag ourselves through the dirt... from the seat of our cars. This is FailRace, where there's more motoring fun on BeamNG, featuring:_ 3:30 _"A wheel divorcing an off-road limo._ 16:41 _"An off-road car playing dead._ 20:42 _"A jet-powered van turns everything to jelly._ 8:01 _"And Alex.... drifting a buggy for Australia."_ Love that second event, very clever. I was half hoping Laddo's jet van would rip in half trying to pull the sled. 😂😂😂
I find it interesting just how much having a bigger vehicle helped in the race - despite the added weight, the added durability seems to help more than agility and speed did, because it means they can take risks. I did wonder how a full on off-road T-series might've faired, though I'm not sure how much support Beam has for parts like that. Something like that certainly would've been able to throw its weight around on the figure eight and absolutely crush the sled-pull challenge. Amy had the right idea.
Extra weight also means landing is harder on parts. So it's a balance. The oversize wheels are the issues for the sedans. The hubs and suspension can't cope with the extra forces (because yes Beam calculates that)
That's why I LOVE that one Dodge T-Rex. But too bad it never was in production (as far as I hear), and stayed as a concept 😢. I know there are other 6x6 pick-up trucks that exist, I just don't know if they're better than T-Rex. I know they're expensive for me.
The "proper" name for a pulling sled is a "Weight transfer device". However, most people just call it a "pulling sled". No surprise Amy more or less did well with that. There's a reason most classes are defined by a maximum weight - more weight, more pull. a several ton steam traction engine geared down can, in theory, out-pull a 6200lb modified 4wd pulling truck, despite the truck having 1,000+hp to the steam tractor's...maybe 10.
A concept inspired by this series could be something like this: Everybody chooses one base game car in its standard form, and then must manually modify it for a series of events. You may modify it for each event (races, car parkour etc), but you have a maximum number of changes you can make for the whole series, so if you over specialise too early, you may be in trouble.later
I know you may not be open to ideas, but a cool one I thought was where you after every event you do not repair your vehicle. You would complete the race and drive to the next track with identical damage to the previous, this could be cool with people strategising on whether they should have something durable or fast or a mixture. The driving strategy would also be interesting, do you go as fast as possible on the 1st race, risk damage for maximum points and then settle for mediocre positions in the rest or do you play it safe to have the final race with a fully repaired vehicle. I haven't played Beam so I don't know the limitations, if you can't save damage, then you'd need a map with either a few circuits close together, make layouts out of existing maps or circuits or make the drive between tracks a part of the experience (more interesting for damaged vehicles). This could also suffer with problems relating to desyncing, it is hard to strategise when the competition's visual damage is up in the air. I think for a 4 race format a single repair would be needed, it'd probably be boring seeing cars limping around on the last race. This idea leans towards more sensible racing however in a 'no limits' format, it'd be interesting to see whether people build cars to break others. In 'no limits' maybe survival to the final race could be the challenge.
In the mid 80s I had an oval track car based off of a VW Karman-Ghia chassis. Plenty of rear suspension travel, near none in he front. If I didn't have the left front off the ground by nine inches for most of the lap on a 1/4 mile track, It wasn't going it's fastest.
This is really cool, so please don't take my comment as a complaint. I'm sure that such creations are very hard to create in BeamNG, and it's fun to see you all using such appliances for your races. But that sled, unfortunately, doesn't seem to be created the same as the IRL sleds used for the tractor pulls. Probably the limits of BeamNG won't allow for the proper plowing action, but those sleds have giant plows which dig further and further into the ground the further the sled is pulled. So even the immense four-engine tractors end up breaking axles, throwing rods, and all kinds of fun stuff. How the heck do they pay for all the necessary repairs?
I loved the figure of eight racing, but this final challenge was rather anti-climactic if I'm honest. This was a great mini championship until that point. Still, keep up the great work I love seeing the wacky vehicles.
Hey failrace would you ever think about playing human darts again? It’s been many moons since you’ve done that. hell maybe even a survival island round for old times sake
The sled pull was the only part of this tournament that sucked. All other events were anybody's game. It wasn't on dirt like it's supposed to be and why would it be a thing when we new some people would choose cars.
So i finally found that ui app that shows the power to weight ratio and i now know what the power to weight if ny 300 mph trackcar is, 1.8...... what the fuck did i make
WTF? You won the race then essentially interfered with other vehicles! You should have pulled over…like they did in the first heat…and stayed there to see who came in second and third! Instead you are all over the track and hitting other vehicles still racing!
The lower the torque, the higher gearing you'll want for that added torque multiplication to the wheels. I think with some fine tuning, even the smaller/less powerful cars could achieve abit more. I'm tempted to go and try to build something that could do it.

Jet van is a monster
Seeing the Scarab race around and only having three wheels on the ground in the turn is honestly really fuckin cool.
If you want more like that check out the stadium super trucks, they damn near tripod every corner.
Also check out the World of Outlaws sprint car series.
9:25 NOTE: Brazen died on the way back to his home planet
Wowww, Brazen came from another planet?!?
I got better though!
BRAZEN'S DEAD *MANICAL LAUGHTER*
Shados started it (see the other 2 videos).

Laddo is Leroy's brother.

Love these challenge series.
You guys should do more
agreed!
Never seen a sled pull on asphalt before 😂 that poor road would be ruined! Usually they're on dirt or mud what I've seen.
Beam's physics for dirt would mean that basically no vehicles would've been able to move the sled.
@@Dimondminer11they also don't usually travel far. And since they were on mud tires, it mightve been better
I'm so glad to see Amy win after having such a tough time lately.

So, the Jeremy -Clacson- Clarkson method?
The real winner is Alex m8 😂😁
Wellll atleast you redeemed yourself after bottling it on the final corner of the last 'race' Ames.
This whole series brings back wonderful Full Metal Challenge memories.
brazen and i collided very slightly and both got demon dragged into the wall, it was very unfortunate. at least the hummer did ok at the sled pulling
12:40 that’s was so sick I actually cheered out loud what a good race!
That race final finish was absolutely insane! Well played to you sir. Helluva drive.
12:43 - 12:51 - This is what i “HAVE COME” to “EXPECT” from a “FAIL RACE VIDEO”……
The close finish 8/10…. At this point
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Laddo's jet van turned into a yellow Cybertruck lol
Beamng drive freakin nailed it with offroad rigs
Best commentator of driving gameplay, always love a good failrace vid. The wheel lift was awesome in your first run XD
ayy i think i reconize where that long roamer came from.
such a epic video! never seen such fun and chaotic racing before on beamNG :D
Unbelievable finish! On the figure 8 race
That was an awesome series!
Laddo and Brazen, heros and winners in our hearts...
I'm surprised none of the lighter vehicles didn't try reversing the sled. Great series by the way, hope you do more of these.
Amy definitely had plot armor for this one!

Would love to see a Ralley style mini tournement like this with different track surfaces and maybe even a RalleyX style race in the mix as well

love the content and hey we have tractor pulling sleds up where I live and its always been on dirt ;) keeps from super wheelies
Loved this series! But wondering why you did the sled pull on the road. Should've been on dirt..but ive never played Beam so don't know the physics.
there should be more events that penalize the lighter vehicles tbh
You can adjust the sway-bars to keep this front wheel on the ground.
nice racing
Why was the weight all the way back at the beginning for yours too? I seen it on other ones and thought it was just desync but was yours also desync?
The weight moves from the back to the front.
Laddo is incredibly loud, as always
I predict Laddo wont be doing well this round!

I'm not sure the reversing down the Monster Jam track was a legit tactic. It's supposed to be a U turn. Not a stop and reverse point.
Winning 2 and finishing 2nd in another, but not winning overall is a crime

I just GTA V allowed us this sort of modification!!
… why didn’t you do low range Alex?
low range wouldnt have helped, the scarab was weight and grip limited, not torque
let's be honest, that buggy would have busted its frame before budging that sled no matter what gear range it used lol
Brazen got Estebanned

Alex only lost one wheel in the finish, amy lost alteast three. Therefore Amy should win the figure of eight race.
