    Hi, ex-polish military here :)
    So,
    - you got a fairly good menu (although hungarian gulash is by far the best),
    - you got one vit. C and one coffee candy
    - large zipper bag was usually used for water purification, but the tablets were in a larger 24h patrol ration,
    - panzerwaffles are kinda legendary around here, You can replace teeth broken by them - with them,
    - the raspberry instant drink is supposed to be drank with the straw while the bag is zipped,
    - salt works great added to the flameless heater water,
    - spam cans are the best ashtrays,
    - the shortest recorded unit of time is the duration of xylithol chewing gums taste,
    - the only purpose of the honey is to make everything sticky, also, for some reason it helped with the insect bites, perhaps someone knows why, I always added the honey to the heater pack, liquify it and used it to make the raspberry tea sweeter, sugar can give quite an energy punch during long marches
    - the green plastic bag is made from a very thick plastic, which works great as a tinder (SORRY GRETA, DEAL WITH IT),
    - I know it will sound a bit disgusting, but the wet wipes used as a toilet paper is the best thing that happened to the army since the beginning of time. No more japanese “itchybutty” syndrom

    Great video!! the Polish rations are some of the best MRE'S in the 🌎 if not the best. The food tastes like it came from my kitchen. The SRG are the powerhouse in the ration world. I love the accent too. New subscriber. Great recommendation TH-cam!!

      The meals that are added to Polish MREs are typical food that is common in every Polish home and shop and practicaly is the same as the ones you can buy everyday in here, as no special preservers are used the expiry dates on Polish MREs are rather short and should be taken seriously (there was a video from Steve1989 with a expired Polish ration and i think he even mentioned he was sick after it) Polish army never had a need for MRE with long expiry dates, it maybe one more reason why Polish rations when they are ok taste realy good.

    An army marches on its stomach. Either on a stomach full of a delicious, balanced diet, or on the stomach contents of the guys in front. You can probably tell which one is better for fighting. Our Polish army doesn't forget that.
    The meal is made with care for quality for morale reasons as well. It is to remind the troops of their mother's(or wife's) cooking. Remind them of home. Who they are fighting for.
    But yeah, mostly it's so they both want to eat it and manage to keep it down, even in extremely stressful and/or physically exhausting situations.
    It is a meal designed with care for detail. From the non-flame/chemical "just add water" type heater that won't give away your position unless someone is using a heat camera, through the size of the hard candy large enough to keep you salivating and not thirsty/too dry throated to whisper normally for about an hour, but not too big as to not allow you to speak, as well as adding caraway seeds to the crackers to both improve the flavor and prevent gas and/or prevent/ease any other intestinal distress, to the zip lock trash bag so you don't leave behind anything traceable and at the same time don't get unhygienic food residue on your backpack making it one huge petri dish collecting any bacteria and fungi you come into contact with. One scratch getting infected is all it takes for you to get locked joints or muscle cramps in your hand/forearm and not be able to aim and/or pull the trigger when you actually need to.
    Oh... And on the honey thing... They add it to all of them. You just keep it for the next meal or trade it away for some gum or crackers. Most meals have tea or coffee and someone in your group might have more of a sweet tooth than you.

    Im Polish and several years ago my brother brought me an MRE kit from army. It didnt have self-heating bags like the one you presented but a steel cup, rudimentary cooking plate and a petrol-infused tablet for heating. It also had tea and coffee bags inside as well as dried fruits so its sad to see these are missing these days.

    • @z00mbi3s
      @z00mbi3s 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The dried fruits and other contents you mention are in 24h pack that is much bigger, the one in here is a single meal pack, they typicaly come in 3 types with pasta bolonese, beans with sousage or pork neck in vegetables. The one in video is a pork neck meal. Emmymade has a nice video with a 24h Polish ration so you could check if it was the one that you had.

      my friend recently got me two packs of one meal MREs and both had the dried fruits in them. sources i checked suggest you always get two of those three things: honey/jam, cereal & fruit bar and the packet of dried fruits
      in this ration he got the honey and fruit bar so the absence of dried fruits makes sense

    I ate these Polish hardtacks (I mean crackers), and they although are quite hard does not taste bad. I've eaten them with a Lisner herring salad and I liked it very much, but they are good on their own.

      Panzer waffels (ckrakers) po prostu wrzuć do zupy lub do innej podgrzewanej potrawy - do doskonały wypełniacz! Rozmiękczone są bardzo syte! Masz zupę instant lub gulasz? Dorzuć pokruszone SU-1 i masz bardzo syty posiłek!

  • @PointlessCreativity
    @PointlessCreativity 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The Polish SU-1 and SU-2 crackers, called "Panzerwaffle" in the Polish army, are good because they are one of the few such products containing cumin. They are so popular in Poland that you can buy them in almost any military or tourist store...

      Crackers are for thickenning your meal/soup like croumble does. They also can be inserted to your vest, making you bulletproof. 😁

      Ive found that non-polish people don't particularly like these crackers. That's fun cause in fact SU-2 crackers are commonly loved in Poland. They got natural wheat/secale taste with a little bit of caraway and salt, so they can be combined both with sweet and non-sweet additions. These are classic crackers, extremely though and hard and due to that they are known also as panzerwaffle. Like any other traditional crackers they can be used as a soup filler, or dipped in tea. They can be even cooked on the pan with meat. It's good to left them for a short period of time after unwraping, so they can become a little bit softer. Though they taste a little bit plain, they are different to completely plain crackers, that tiny admixture of caraway makes them quite unique.

      @krakendragonslayer1909 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Those crackers - if you want to et them - you need to lure into some drink to make them softer,
      alternatively you can wield them like bulletproof vest

    • @z00mbi3s
      @z00mbi3s 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      SU-2 crackers are multi purpose tool that can also be used as food! If you can`t eat a cracker in the morning you know you should report to sick bay. You can load uniform jacket pockets with packs of SU-2 crackers and now your normal uniform turns into bullet proof vest. They can be used in hand to hand combat and many more uses they have, practicaly the SU-2 crackers test You with each bite :D

    Cool review mate! The polish ones are funny... some of it is great, at worse its mediocre... but never bad! Well, besides the vegetarian pates... they are just.. worse than plain. Biggest issue is the lack of coffee and the snacks. the date bars with flavor are ok, but not really moral enhancing so to say.

    Nice scenery dude. Really nice!
    My worthless advice is…go deeper into the forest, so we won't hear the highway in the background.
    Another worthless advice - show more with the camera (how this shit looks like inside when you open it, was it hard to open etc.) rather than only describing it.
    Good luck with your channel!
