Huey is slightly underrated, I agree. What is truly underrated is THINKING. Mainstream media lately with Don Lemon and Whoopie Goldberg are poster children for just how underrated critical thinking is. Small brains are all the rage
Holy crap, that transition!! Literally gave me goosebumps. Bill’s snare shuffle is spot on, Mario’s bass line when they switch into Thin Lizzie is badass, and let us not forget that epic solo from Sean Hopper
Incredible. This is what hard working, professional musicians who’ve played together as a band for years sound like. The News are so tight and locked into a collective pocket here it’s a gift to see and hear it. The rhythm section, keys, guitars, and Huey’s harmonica are firing on all cylinders. The pros from Dover. Thanks for posting this vid. I’ll be back.
If there were ever a bunch of white boys playing real black blues music so damn good and close to the real thing, I'd think it'd be HL&N! They make the black blues masters proud!
I would have rather gone to this concert than attend my highschool graduation- same day- and 1,600+ miles east of SF. Listening to Huey Lewis and the News helped me survive four miserable years of highschool.
Honestly .... they are the last of their kind ! I love love love Rock n Roll and in my lifetime, Huey Lewis and the News brought it ( old school ) better than anyone ! The only “ modern “ ( in the 80s ) band that I listened to that my dad enjoyed as much as I did .
Guitar lick at 2:05 …top to bottom these guys are so damn tight! So horribly underrated. Greatest cover of this song I’ve ever heard. And oh by the way the drums sound PHAT in this! DAMN!!!
Transition starts at 3:05 and goes to 5:05. They just make it seem so effortless. I loved the News growing up, even as a little kid in the late '80s. I later was a News major in college...and listened to Huey's hits while writing for the paper in college and in my first job out of college!
Huey played quiet a few times with thin lizzy, and Phil lynott on his solo stuff, so no real surprise he plays the boys are back in town, him and his band still sound good, keep rocking Huey
My first ever gig my mum n dad took me to see these guys when I was 13, what a treat to experience such talented musicians, set the bar for future concerts! Great vid.
Huey Lewis played harmonica for Thin Lizzy a few times and was a friend of Phil's before the News. There is an actual recorded television performance on BBC's Old Grey Whistle Test with Huey playing the harmonica with Phil.
Top génial votre musique !! Magnifique pour tout l'ensemble d es Artistes !J'aime beaucoup ! Merci pour ce tres beau partage !!! 😍👌👍👏👏💕💕💕💕💕💕🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵💕🎹🎸🎸🎸🎺🎺🎷🎷
Huey Lewis plays harmonica on a Thin Lizzy live album back in the 1970s, so he knew Phil Lynott personally. A great version for sure, and also one with a bit of a personal connection.
Question.. why does there have to be DISLIKES? A person that dislikes this needs to stop being a troll and move on. No excuse for being an idiot. I put a love on it if I could!!

Huey Lewis is clearly one of the best frontmen in rock history...bar none.
the drummer is great, underrated for sure. solid and tasty licks through out
shuffle is so crazy solid
They should get a lot more recognition than they do. They are so underrated.
Carson, always have been, I seen them at red rock amphitheatre in 85, tremendous live band
Saw them in Belfast, circa 1990. Awesome.
Huey is slightly underrated, I agree. What is truly underrated is THINKING. Mainstream media lately with Don Lemon and Whoopie Goldberg are poster children for just how underrated critical thinking is. Small brains are all the rage

As a Dubliner I'm proud of Huey Lewis and the News' rendition of the Boys are Back in Town. Phil Lynnott would be proud looking down from heaven!
The last time they played Dublin, at Olympia, I was there and they played this, Huey reminiscing over Phil, great experience

1st big band I ever saw, at Wembley in 88....till the best live band I've ever seen. These Boys together were fucking amazing. ❤
Sean Hopper is so underrated as a keyboardist. His piano work transitioning between two completely songs is pure genius. I love watching him play!
Jon Olson he really tears it up during that interlude. Huey’s whole band was really rock solid.
RRHOF -- get Huey and the News IN!!! C'mon already!!!!!!!
I just can't get enough listening to that bridge between the two songs.. :)
By far the best bar band in history.
These guys were always so damn tight live. From everything I’ve ever read they were the hardest working band in the business.
You're damn right. And also The Ramones, another hard working band.
Yes
Right when Mario drops that bassline into Back in Town, it's on. Overdrive!
That is some serious SOUND that they are bringing.... even without the TOP horns
Tremendous. Seeing them, live was a great experience. How cold anyone dislike this ...unless they are cruel robots.
Don’t go dissing the cruel robots.
@@jimpelton I mean... Chris Hayes is a T2, right?
Best dancing of my life with this band, live!
Sorry for you dear if you did not live them live, they were the bee's knee's man!
If there were ever a bunch of white boys playing real black blues music so damn good and close to the real thing, I'd think it'd be HL&N! They make the black blues masters proud!
ZZTop are jokes to you?
My favorite rock band of all time, and this my favorite song of theirs!!!! Love me some Huey!!! Oh yeah!!! Blow that harp!
Yeh but you know the song is not ''theirs''....right??
They played two songs here, one's is their the other is a cover. The Harp solo is in Whole lotta lovin' so Linda's talking about this one i think.
Thin lizzy made the secondat song, but i prefer this one
I love this band, nailed this, If only Phil was still around to hear it...
I would have rather gone to this concert than attend my highschool graduation- same day- and 1,600+ miles east of SF. Listening to Huey Lewis and the News helped me survive four miserable years of highschool.
Righteous!

I'm trying to figure out when I am going to get bored with this video. Hopper, Gibson, and Cipollina kill it during the transition!
ALWAYS INCREDIBLE!!!!! AMERICA'S FAVORITE BAND !!!!! THEY INVENTED HARD WORK.
❤❤these songs back then and now August 2024

Nobody can orchestrate a guitar solo like Huey Lewis

He's on "Live And Dangerous" too (Baby Drives Me Crazy)
Yeah - the song's called "Ode To A Black Man"

doing the Lizzy justice, rock on!
They schooled the Lizzy, imho!

Also, one of the few videos I've seen that spotlights Sean⭐
Lived them in the 80'a and wish they would reassemble today.
My all time fav Band. Great wholesome Music can't find these days. So sorry Huey lost his hearing.
Whole Lotta Lovin is my best song in this band.
Saw them open for Billy Joel in the early 80’s. Never heard of them before that but became an instant fan. One of the best concerts I have ever seen.
Smoking hot rock and roll from my youth! Great stuff!,,
Love the entire show, but especially this part. Thanks for the upload. Wish I had seen HLN while I had the chance. At least we have this, though.
One of the best bands ever!
I'm in mullet heaven.
Lots of Love to you Huey Lewis And The News!! ❤😘😍💕🎤🎸🎵🎷🎶💙✌🌟💕💙

THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN
A superb performance 🙂
Always been a fan! Love the energy!!! And Huey still makes my heart beat a tad faster!!!
Great Huey! Fantastic music
Saw them twice in London, superb band .
Chris Hayes rocking it out on boys are back! awesome :-)
It takes stones to perform The Boys are Back, but Huey does Phil Lynott justice. Fair play to Huey!
TWO GUITAR'S SUPER !
Guitars should not have an apostrophe, as that means it is belonging to a guitar
Lizzy had two guitars at their peak.
I like it huey very good sound.
And who would of thought Huey was packing so much heat that the groupies would all be buzzing about it!

Yes they can rock

Woke up this morning under a tent…. When I was 17 I thought he really meant a tent 😃
Isn't that what he means? The song was kind of about sexual frustration, so I think he literally meant cracking a stiffy.

The ratio of Mullets to Cool Guys has dropped DRAMATICALLY over the past 30 years...
Dig it 😎
Nice "Little Feat" type shuffle transitioning between songs
38-year-old Huey Lewis looks a lot like a 68-year-old Beau Bridges.
😍
Is that agent Smith at 04:08 ?
