OMG! This reminds me of the story my family tells me about when I was 3 yrs old and I broke my leg. I was jumping on my sister's bed and I went toward the end of it and fell between the bed and the foot board. My parents took a to the hospital and sure enough it was broken. They were questioned several times and my parents said they possibly called social services because they thought I was being abused. (Don't worry, I was not.) So the hospital gave me crutches to get around and I didn't want any part of that so they carried me everywhere. AND, because they felt bad about it, they got me one of those horses on springs that you can ride. I loved that thing!! My parents are gone now. They were such good parents and I miss them. I really hope your little girl heals quickly.
I remember those spring bounce horses! I didn't have one, but I remember them! I loved the horses at the grocery store that cost anywhere from a nickel to a quarter. It didn't do much but it was fun back then in the late 60's. :-) Ahh, three is so young (and two as this little one) to have to be recuperating from a broken leg!
Just a suggestion (because of my experience) If they put her in a boot ask if she needs to be in a boot at sleep time. If they say to remove at night ask them if she wants to keep it on can she do so. When I broke my foot I kept the boot on at night which helped relieve the pain. Without the boot I would stretch or turn and it hurt so bad. Also, my nephew was 6 when he broke his foot and he also wanted the boot on at night. It helps support the foot from movement and reduces the pain.
I’m so sorry you’re dealing with a tough phase of life and I completely understand wanting to escape your own reality! My son almost died from septic shock last year and spent 47 days in childrens hospital. I felt like I was numb and everything just moved around me. Hugs!!
When something happens to our children, we go into protective mama bear mode. Trust your istincts mama. Praying for sweet Ally Sue to be free from pain and make a full recovery!! You wear your heart on your sleeve, Rachel, and I completely get you - as I do too. A lot of times it's not easy, but it's what makes us, us!! Sending love from Canada XO❤
Prayers for Ally Sue. Hopefully, she will heal quickly. My 2 year old granddaughter is on week 3 of a fractured wrist. She is wearing a brace and is doing great. The orthopedic Dr. Told our daughter that she (our granddaughter) will heal up quickly. So hopefully you will get good news.🙏🙏🙏
My youngest son (I have 5 boys) was the 1st to break a bone. He broke 4 fingers when he was about 15 months. He managed to break a bone every year for the next 6 years! He has ADHD and was always climbing and jumping off of EVERYTHING! When they are little they are very resilient and they heal quickly. The first few days are rough but once they get a hard cast it gets easier.
My son wasn't allowed to get a proper cast until the swelling went down. If they cast it while it's still very swollen the cast isn't tight enough and too much movement is possible for it to heal properly, once that initial swelling goes down. Plus if it's not finished swelling a hard cast would be excruciating.
My granddaughter broke her ankle when she was about 10, she actually had to have surgery and the Dr was very concerned about her growth plate. It happened when she was running across the yard, no fall or anything. Thankfully it healed up and her growth wasn’t affected. She is now 5’6”. She also broke her elbow when she was 2, fell off a structure at the preschool on the playground. They didn’t even check her to see if it was injured. Her Mom took her to the emergency room after she picked her up. She had to wear a wrap that held her arm against her chest to keep the elbow at a right angle. Took about 6 weeks to heal. She was a real champ after the first day, didn’t even act like it hurt or was any different, up and down off a chair with no problem. Kids are so resilient. I also remember when my cousin broke both his arms jumping off the swing at grade school. He had cast on both arms, it was terrible. He could hold t feed himself or write- total misery.
I broke my foot and my son broke his arm. We both had a splint (he needed his wrist reset)the first week due to swelling. There was no way to cast it before the swelling went down. A week later they checked it again for movement and casted them both. We only had the first casts for 4-5 weeks. I hope she feels better and recovers quickly!

I am sure sad to hear about. Alice Sue breaking her leg. But you know that's what those playgrounds are bad for cause. Kids climb too high and they and I follow so be careful. Those playgrounds. You got too many kids to watch. Why didn't you ask your aunt Laura? To help you? Watch the kids while they were on that playground. She would been glad to come with you. What is she going to do when you'll sell your house? And she has that apartment, where was she Goh?

They never do a proper cast for a few days. Because of swelling. That is why they wait with just a splint.
Poor Ally Sue praying it all heals up well.
I was just going to say this. They won’t cast unless they are sure the swelling has stopped. Very serious if one swells in a cast!!!
