Vic and Violet feeling the pain of the Mother Box at the same time and then, …”Vic can Boom-tube!” Is my favorite part of the episode. Ultra Humanite is supposedly a Superman villain. The first time you see him is in season 1 with the Injustice League and the giant plants. Wynde will matter more, but we do not learn anymore about Mal and Karen (which is very frustrating). Your disdain for teenage/young adult romance is hilarious (to me anyway).
I've accidentally created the vibe I hate romance when I swear it's just this show lol This show is just...there's no build up. There's no will they/won't they. 2 characters make eye contact and you immediately know they're getting together. Or they skip it altogether and surprise a beloved character is in a presumably long term relationship. This is a show about superhero teens, some of them literally kidnapping and torture victims, AND ALL OF THEM ARE DATING. The older ones go on to marry whoever they dated at 16. It's all so Christian family friendly.
So yeah this was a great episode but it does highlight another issue with the second half of the season. That being that most of the main characters from the start of the season aren’t present. Like this is the first time we’ve seen Nightwing and he had some lines in like 5 episodes
It's kinda crazy because the first half literally makes it seem like Nightwing is forming/leading the titular outsiders and he is... but then he just drops them off at his friend's houses and dips
So yeah Kaldur and his boyfriend aren’t my favorite couple, mostly because we still haven’t seen much of them, but they kick butt and work well together so their alright by me
Well you finally saw who Dr. Jace was texting all the time and it was ULTRA-HUMANITE!!! Also did Karen really do the right thing for her just born daughter? Who knows if so or not.
The inclusion of the Mal and Karen plot is inconsequential to the overall plot, but it's crazy that it's still thematically consistent. Karen mulling over whether to give her daughter the metagene (with no choice in the matter) actively parallels how other metas have been treated throughout the world as well. For people that don't have them, it might seem cool. But for, theoretically, their daughter and thousands of other meta-teens, it's a gift and curse that they have to make the best of. Love that they also don't show what choice Karen makes on the matter, but either bootdrop works so well. Maybe we'll get it in the fabled Season 5... I've never said this before about a language, but there's something about Atlantean that's...unattractive? Does that make sense? Anyway, great reaction to a great episode! (Also - you missed a post credit scene that will make next week a little less difficult to keep up with!)
Mal and Karen being inconsequential...ooh I hate it And no, you're right! Atlantean is ugly. you can tell the voice actors are being handled a list of sounds and just doing their best. It's like enochian on Supernatural, no grace, no flow.

Nightwing is such a big character, I'm personally fine w him being gone to give character stuff to the younger ones

There is an after credit scene in episode 26
