Hell yes, get Hicksy on for a chat! Absolute strength monster
+1
Lockout was always his biggest problem
Talking strongman with Hicks and JF this is what we need.
Thor mogged that 501 in 2020. Rauno had more in the tank when he pulled his 476 in 2022. After Hicksy's injury at WSM 2021 been hoping for him to have a major W like this. I dunno. I think all 3 have a shot, with Thor having the best one. (if Wide Pavlo and Asko were also in peak form, they'd have a shot too, I'd think) Might be worth a trip to Vegas to find out!
I doubt thor will do it.
@@bartondean4260 Why? he has been hinting at it, well as a matter of fact not only hinting, he has literally said that he wants to do it.
@@eladrio2311 He wants to do 505, but has also said that he won’t do World’s, Giant’s or any contests associated with Colin Bryce, so he might do it but not in Vegas.
@@JamesNeve Who cares whre he does it as long as is official. But, fyi he is training to do it at Shaw classic, raw. He did said he´d be happy just breaking the raw record wich sits ar 465 tho
Would love to see Hicksy pull the 505. Hoping he stays healthy!
Hicks is strong as fuck but I can't see him pulling anything over 465. He is a heavy rep monster but I doubt he has that top end grunt. Best way of explaining what I mean is.... He is a marathon runner in a sprinter race. Now, after having said that, I really hope he rips 505 off the ground like an empty bar.
Honestly I am so madly in love with opinion but it don't think he is capable of pulling 505kg dead weight he's only looking for a comp BP
Please interview hicks. I've been following his videos this year
I’m sure hicks pulled 405 3x3 as the clips were 2.5kg each. Watched this live on instagram. He is looking strong, definitely has a chance.
Correct, 405kg 3x3
Loz, for things like how to peak, anytime you're wondering if it's something we'd find interesting, the answer is ALWAYS yes!
Well said!!!
Hicks 340kg front squat was impressive too
I believe Graham is more than capable of doing the 505 he's looking so strong 💪
Thor has said that he doesn't think he'll go for 500+ at the Shaw because he wants to do well the whole competition, and doesn't think he will be pushed to do 500+ by anyone at that show.
Is it a hummer tyre deadlift this year as usual? Because if it is then there’s even more reason not to do it.
@@him050 Nope. Raw deadlift. He just has no reason to go that hard in probably the hardest competition of the year.
@@Micheldied oooh, that exciting! Raw though. Doubt a deadlift world record is gonna get beat without a suit!
I don't see anyone except Thor breaking his own record. I think 485-490 is possible for Graham
Time will only tell.
Although Thor won't be in that specific competition, I still have him being the 1st 505. He's the only person competing now with a 500+ lift, and easy suit-less 1000lb lifts.
Thor would have easily broken that last competition if he had not already won the event. I don't think anyone is going to come close to him if he stays injury free
410 IS 90Kg away from 500. He needs to pull at least 455 easily
I think Thor will pull more than 505 at SMOE just to make the 505 in Vegas obsolete....
I'm surprised you're sleeping on Matt Ragg. He has as good a chance as Hicks & Rauno for 505. Thor is the clear favourite though
Make video about or with Arlid Haugen.
I've just been watching the first live day of uk strongest man and the have put on a great competition with radzi commentating to steady the ship, I've really enjoyed it
I'm Dutch and I've been following strongman for years and I didn't even know we had anything to do with a champions league lol.
🇳🇱❤💙💪🏻💪🏻
I’d like to see 3 with 440 or 450 kg to pull over 500
Or 400 ×8
@@patrikboij7560 exactly or 400kg for reps with no suit, 3 with 400kg is not going to put over 500kg on the board
@@andynorth4263x3 is not the same as one set of 3 lol
@@maartenn2217 especially as it's clearly not a 3 rep max, he looks like he could have done at least 6
@@maartenn2217 I’m aware of that but it ain’t pulling over 500
I think you need to lift at least 10x400 to be able to lift 500
Graham's "mini peak" is a bad move, in my opinion. I sincerely hope he doesn't end up injured before September. Thor is an absolute master of peaking at the right time and will undoubtedly hit 505Kg. Unequipped , at that. Honestly, I suspect that he will go for 510Kg. He knows how close Hicksey is to 505Kg and we know for a fact that he won't want to share a record with anyone at all.
Defo close, but that 500kg aint no joke, nearly killed big ed,but hicksy stays away from injury and this record could be broken
i don't believe so, but i could be wrong. The problem with a lift like this is you can go all the way up to 504kg but the last KG just is impossible.
Thor is the only one capable as of now to break the record.
Hasn't Bishop showed the best deadlift shape lately (except Thor)?
Been following Hick’s training. Looks great.
Side shot reveals the silliness of straps, he's not even gripping the bar. Fingertipping galore. Akin to a 2~3 inch block pull. Plus suit. All these shenanigans greatly diminish strongman's claim of being the greatest deadlifters.
Hafthor will be the one to beat his own record
Yes incoming 520 to shut ALL the haters up once and for all!👀👀💀💀👌💪💪💪
He doesn't have the record.
Yeah very likely
Can't wait to see it then see what haters have to say after he does it.
@@julianhernandez6457 How about 'nice! it only took Hafthor 8 yrs to catch up to Eddie.'
Without a doubt it's Hickys all the way. Thor doesn't stand a chance.
Huge fan of tom and mitch. Gonna be such a good comp season. SMoE, rogue, classic and deadlift comp. Also rooting for hicksy to stay injury free and smash 505
Nah, he hasn't got it in him. Just another great deadlifter on a road to failure chasing 500kg+
Don't think Thor will break the record without a suit.
i am saying this for a long time the inly person who can beat hafthor's record is hafthor himself for now!
He's way too injury prone to accomplish it
Thor is hoping that Rogue will do a max deadlift (equipped) at the Rogue invitational to give him an opportunity to do it there.
Why not just go for 502? Hell Big Z broke his records in increments, so is Hicks ask for 502, is he allowed ?
Weight jumps decided by the comp organiser. They just like the sound of 505
Thor is gonna do an insane raw pull. dont sleep on hicks, hes looking awesome
can you give time stamps for these news videos please?
I would say yes because he is very short for a SM, he is closer to the weight.
Are you going to do an interview with Brian about his upcoming comp?
Interesting debate. Suited up doing 3for3 at 400 looks good BUT, 105kg jump up from 400 is huge, in fact it could take him 2 years of continuous focus on that one discipline and might then realise he’s not capable of achieving it. I think an Athlete with a higher more consistent weight ability in the 450-475 range is probably in with a better chance but who would that be apart from Thor?
His max right now is probably in the mid-400s, so it's more like a 50kg jump. Still that's a long way to go.
Do you two know that the man pulled 470 kg and pretty much separated 505 kg from the ground, what you talking about 450, that's a joke for him..
@@Cedo86 Yeah well he's not currently peaking (I hope), I'm saying if he went for a max tomorrow he'd get about 450-460. Obviously by the end of his prep he'll be able to hit high 400s, but 505 might be too much of an ask.
He can beat it
Thor WILL beat it
I hope Hixxey breaks it.
Without suit is the real deadlift.
People are sleeping on tom, if he decided to, I think he could do it
LOL No. Maybe in 5 years.
Only thor will do 505
I judge my DL 1rm max by what I can do for 2 reps, then add 20kg. Even then I don't make it every time.
Hell yes i want a video of you talking to Hicksy!! He is currently ahead of the curve compared to his peers, but is he TOO far ahead of the curve? As you touch on, i'd like to know his strategy as we are still months away. He must be right on that edge of essentially peaking now, what is the plan ahead as 15 more weeks of 400kg+ sets surely is not possible!😂
Hicksy looking the strongest he ever has
Nope, Hafthor would have easily smashed that record during his last competition had he not already secured the event. He pulled the 1k like it weighed nothing. If he goes against anyone capable of pushing him, he is going to come out on top
Also - Hicks looked an absolute dead cert for the long record for many years. Never materialised. I'm not convinced
Wouldn't put it past Tom to hit the 1000lb in a suit, he's much stronger than he was in 2019 when he pulled 430kg
All due respect to him, I really hope Hicks gets the record because it would mean more if he did it. Thor has his WSM title to keep him company.
Hafthor.
Hicksy has a shot. 400kg for 3×3 is an amazing feat, but it's miles away from 505kg for 1.
It’s not just down to strength when it comes down to the deadlift - the biomechanics of the movement will always benefit the shorter man which is why Thors 6”9 frame lifting the 501kg was really impressive. Hicks is 5”9 so will lift the weight to less height which requires a lot less effort and energy. The shorter guys are favoured massively for this event.
This is what people who don't understand biomechanics think. Most deadlift specialists are tall, the proportions matter far more than your height. Hick's short arms relative to his torso that have the bar against his groin at lockout is far from ideal for Lockout compared to Hafþor's frame.
@@EVO6-I actually agree with you. There’s a number of variables. Height is just one. Body shape and limb length etc are others. But there’s no denying that tall people have to lift the bar and weight higher off the floor (therefore exerting more energy) than a shorter person. Deadlift is undeniably an exercise that is advantageous to the shorter person. In the same way that a keg toss is better suited to tall people or a truck pull to heavier competitors.
This is true to a certain extent. If you're shorter, you also need to move the weight over a shorter distance. The problem starts when we talk about deadlifts over 400 kg, because usually only people weighing 160-180 kg can lift such weights. When Hall lifted 500 kg, his body weight was around 200 kg. And it's much easier to carry 200 kg of body weight with a height of 6'3" than with 5'10". This is especially true for Thor, who is 6'9".
Beyond a certain point, height becomes an advantage because you can pack more muscle onto the frame.
Only thing with Grahams sets are they aren't full dead stop. When Eddie and Thor were hitting the crazy sets up to 500+ they were full reset.
Mitch Hopper going to steam roll everyone. Remember you heard it here first.
Personally, I dont think he'll do it. He'll get it off the ground no doubt as others have, but he wont complete the lift. As for thor, his home gym record isn't worth a w**k. He didn't do it in competition and he never will.
Hixxy looks very good for it. No idea what Thor and rauno are doing as I haven’t seen them post in a while. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Thor pull it at shaws event either based on how he was doing at Arnold’s
I mainly want to see what Tom can do. He hasn’t done a normal max deadlift since before he went full time. 1000 easily I reckon
Been following hicksy for the last couple of years, he makes it look easy! He went training with Thor and even he said that Hicksys looking very good, he just said one thing Hicksy needs to do is put on some weight
hoping graham won't burn out, if he doesn't hes looking unstoppable
Team Rauno. Become the Ultimate Master at Deadlift
You keep saying 505 is a big ask. Of course it is. That’s why it’s the record. If it wasn’t a big ask it wouldn’t be a big deal and everyone pays attention to this particular record.
To more casual fans or people who don't know about the sport an extra kilo doesn't sound like much, so it is worry stressing for their benefit
Loz you say hicksey can do it I believe you
Do 502 first, then try more next year
🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧😂😂
Sorry, I have no thoughts
What about Rogue Invitational 2021? There was max deadlift and Tom was there.
That was the elephant bar and with no suit
Elephant Bar is a different deadlift
@@petershortland478 that’s right! I forgot that it was an Elephant Bar Deadlift :) thanks!
Hicks has some added fire this year, hes always had the talent
Mitch needs to start fulfilling his mouth when it comes to the deadlift lol. If Tom could hit 450kg this year I think it would be a statement as his static strength has come so far the last 4 or 5 years
Thor remains on the top of the deadlift game eddie pretty much died and crapped himself when he did 500kg thor did 501 easy thor does 510 next
I have no faith in Hicks breaking the record. He's only impressive in the gym, and just can't do the trick under pressure.
Interesting theory. All my best lifts are in a contest...
@
Yuh I honestly doubt if he can pull 505kg seriously just looking for a comp BP I am a fun of his training videos but I don't think he can lift over 480kg
@@TheHixxy1985yuh definitely but Mr Hixy me closely following u but honestly no chance the way I see but anyway I wish the best
Highly doubt it
For the DL Chapionship: Sure Graham looks like the guy to beat.
For the record: Nope, Thor.
Just to begin with he is the current record holder for 2/3 max deadlift records, the all time (501KG) and the elephant bar (474kg), and he is comming for the raw one wich is helded by Pritchett at 465. He also did 1k in the Arnold´s like nothing, raw, no figure of 8´s, like nothing, it humbled that bar (again). Finally, not long ago he did a Q/A on Instagram where he was asked a lot about the deadlift and said 3 important points: a) He is comming for the All time world record, no dobut. b) Though this can changue, is likely for him to try it at The Strongest man on earth, altough he did said he rather do it in a suit, but raw is what is in front of him, so that have to be, however: c) And this, just if you want to doubt him, he did said he´d be happy with just breaking the raw strongman record, altough he does want to go for the all time.
So there, for the time the Dl Championship rolls in, there is a chance the current record holder already increased the record to 505 raw, and even if not is highly unlikely Graham breaks the record, we know when Thor did it he was repping 440 Kg x3 with ease, not 400, and bare in mind Graham has 50/50 chances of injury lol and even if he breaks it Thor will come for his record soon, again.
400kg for a triple is monstrously, *inhumanly strong*, but even that won't be enough to put Hicksy in contention for the 505. Thor was doing that with a full 40kg more weight on the bar in his prep for the 501, and with Pavlo out of the running I don't think anyone is even close to that level of strength.
Bear in mind he’s already pulled 475
I think he's going to peak to soon and get injured before the comp sadly
He got injured before the last show and still pulled 470kg. rauno is kind of questionable with his knee issues is attempt last comp was pretty strong for never touching close to 505kg
We say that about Makarov, he peeks all the time way too early, Hicksy is very, very clever and has people working alongside him who tell him if he is peaking too early
💪🏻
...
love u 2
Hell yeah!
Not trying to tell the future, just dreaming. As a fan, I would LOVE to see Hicks lift 505 kg at the DL world championships and then see Hafthor lift 510 kg at Shaw Classic. 👍💪👍. No injuries, just raw power.
👍
no live reaction to the UK strongest man ?
Realistically Thor should beat the record, but I really hope Hicksy gets it
Hafthor has to be fav. But Graham has a realistic shout for the WR
Hicksy will beat Eddie's record, channel his inner Kaz and get 505x2
If anyone can do it it's Hixey-he is a static beast!!!
