  • Can people be truly equal in Thai society?
Thais are always hyper-aware of their place in the social hierarchy, and this awareness has a profound effect on how they interact with one another.
This social norm can be a bit baffling for foreigners - especially Westerners. So, we've again enlisted the help of Dr. Larry Persons - author of the groundbreaking book "The Way Thais Lead" and CEO of CQ Leadership Consulting - to explain this phenomenon in our second episode of Explaining Thai Culture to Foreigners.
Do you think social hierarchy is important? Do you know what your social score is? Let us know what you think in the comments ↓↓↓

Extremely interesting. Many thanks. This explains why when I'm there for extended periods of time, it feels like everyone has this secret they are making sure I never find the answer to. This social " score " certainly feels like it comes from mainland China. Perhaps that's what the secret is 🤔😉😅

Yea, agreed. Rich, Thai-Chinese blood Thais who live in the center of Bangkok at the top. Poor Thais from rural areas at the bottom. This is how I saw the Thai caste system.
