I suggest not making your notes “pretty” during a lecture. Instead use your scribble powers to create sloppy but legible notes, then after class you can make them look nicer when you get home
Piage Fabez yup the point of making notes during class is just to take the important points, no need to make pretty ones. You should be making those notes neater during free time.
hey! i have this issue too :) i have some tips for you 1-look ahead! especially with online classes, or even if you have access to a syllabus or know the textbook, you can guess or find out the topic of the next lecture/thing you need to take notes on. I usually find this, then write out the title beforehand, and if there are any guiding questions or outlines. I'll write them and the top and number them like a table of contents, so i can just number as the information switches topics. (For example, my arch professor always has the slides up early, so i can go and copy his outline and main question. or, in my history class, I'll take notes on the reading, and then set up a sorta outline for the lecture that will follow that. 2- leave lots of space! don't be afraid to leave a ton of space (If you have room), this will make it easier to read. If you don't have space, try stapling another paper and having extra on hand. Or, use sticky notes 3- rewrite! its a lot of work and I by no means do it everytime, but if you know they're going to be important then maybe give em a rewrite. This means you can restructure it, correct any mistakes, add drawings/diamgrams, or just make it flow better. Hope this helped!
I feel like not enough people get this though? There are girls at my school who have the most aesthetic notes, and so I would use them to study last year (i didn't write notes then), and I would notice a lot of info missing while I went through my textbook/ class material. Also none of those girls would acc study from their notes, just write them- like- people really need to get that notes need to cover content more than just look pretty and you acc need to use them to revise smh
I think aesthetic with five different pens and twelve different highlighters and colored drawings are a bit too time consuming. I mean, if it helps you study go off, but it’s a bit too much for me. Anyway, a black pen, black brush pen for titles if you do calligraphy or a simple colored marker and one highlighter makes the notes aesthetic as well as easy and efficient. Plus, you can highlight the topics at any time, it doesn’t even have to be while you’re writing. Also, people who write clearly in class and then again write the same thing at home confuse me. Like, I get if you are summarizing the thing or adding additional notes on it, but copying it A-Z? But again, like I said, if you feel like it helps you, go off.
@@aranihiritharan7465 Honestly, it just needs to look neat enough to be legible. Which I struggle a lot with sometimes since I get lazy, ahaha, and just scribble down notes which I can’t read later.
A tip from something I did in high school: write titles and that sort of thing on pencil. When you are done taking notes, get home, revise and fix the title with pretty pens.

Y'all, stop letting a not so great handwriting discourage you. I worked a lot on my handwriting in quarantine and it has improved a lot. There are free worksheets and yt tutorials, you just need to practice it. You can definitely do it too!!
Since I was doing online school last year, I had complete control over my schedule so I tried to take nicer notes. I always tried to limit myself to 1 full page for each lesson (which was a mistake, but I was running out of room in that notebook). My archeology, marine biology, and engineering and technology lessons had the worst way of making us take mastery tests (basically you needed to write down every single little detail otherwise you’d fail) so I started writing extremely small. I actually bought a magnifier to read some of my extremely tiny writing on the very edges of the pages. After 2-3 months of that, I kinda just gave up and started taking pictures of the slides (I’m working on getting better at not procrastinating but it’s a lot) and saying I’d write it down later, which I never did. In summary, I’ve done very little writing over quarantine and I regret it. Unfortunately for me, school start tomorrow. I’m definitely going to work on it as much as I can to at least get it back to what it looked like before lockdown, which was decent enough. Maybe not perfect, but I’ll keep working on it.

i’ve never been that interested in these type of study/lifestyle videos but something about you and the style and content of your videos makes them addictive!!
Pro tip for lefties: try out the pilot frixion highlighters, markers, and pens! There are nice pastel options, they are erasable using friction and heat, and they don't smudge like pencils and regular pens (because the ink is drier to allow for erasing later). The ink of the black ballpoint pen is a softer black but still darker than pencil. This does mean that you will have to replace the ink more often, but it's so worth it for aesthetic notes that aren't covered in smudges and can be erased if there are mistakes 😊
What always helped me study when going to Uni is taking quick notes within the classes. Of course I’d try to make sense of them and put it down somehow organized, but not caring too much about the look. The real first time studying them is transferring the notes over to a notebook that I’d try to make more aesthetic. I’d used to look into the notes I put in my notepads, on the script and textbook if those existed. That helped me keep track of what we already did throughout the module/class and would come in handy when I wrote them again one last time for studying for the final exam. That always worked well for me!!
Two recommendations: dipping your highlighter in water for a really short amount of time helps to make it less neon, and using gel pens, and multicolored pens are much better.

actually stickers, pictures, and highlighter colors are very useful. Your mind connects the stickers, the photos, and the colors with the subject and the information.
I never got to learn cursive in school, which is something really sad. I've tried to teach myself but it never works out, except for my name and a few other letters.
I really hate how they taught us cursive in school. The literally gave us 5 minutes at the beginning of ever class to learn how to write letters and after we passed the test we never did it again. I’ve tried to continue learning but I wish that they had made us continue to practice and stuff.
In my school district my school taught us to write cursive in 3rd grade and writing in cursive for everything was mandatory until 6th grade. Cursive is useful for fancy titles or poster projects and signatures, but most people use print for everything else anyway. If you’re struggling with cursive, maybe try cursive writing templates? Ik that’s what my teachers used to help teach us and then later we just had to keep practicing to see it get better progressively.
We always had to write in cursive since 1st grade till 5th grade. Then we could write however we wanted, but we were never taught how to write classic print in school.
Homeschooler pro tip: find a homeschool bookseller in your area (they exist) and ask for handwriting workbooks for children. Homeschoolers are obsessed with teaching cursive, lol. I even wrote in cursive for my grad school comprehensive exams 😂😂😂
thank you for this! i love that these are just general tips and tricks. a lot of similar videos that i’ve watched bust out hardcore calligraphy or super expensive supplies and feel so impossible and unrealistic.
Advice for efficient study: -Only take notes on important re-occurring matters and try to listen to the teacher talking and comprehend, rather than writing stuff down. -Ask questions. -2 highlighters are enough, me personally, I use 0 -If your teacher does not allow pen, use a black colored pencil. -Be smart
pretty much learned this aesthetic of effective note-taking while in the process of having note-taking marathons at school and even during online classes. Also, off-black colors can make your notes less plain than just using black pens.
thank you so much! currently in bed unmotivated and came here! but the "changing to pen when taking notes" i've naturally made that change in 7 or 8th grade and still continuing. It's awesome 🤩
my favorite title style is the tall thin letters in a color and smaller black letters in cursive on top of the tall thin letters. it's so pretty and is really simple.
My old school made us have THICK colour pencils and we had to do coloured (cursive) titles, themed borders, and cursive fountain pen writing. I've gotten used to it now haha
Something I like to do when it comes to drawings, and stuff you wanna print, do it directly on the page you're going to write on! That way you don't have to cut AND you use less paper.
Is it weird that I listen to these in the background while I study and yet my notes look not even as close as pretty as hers-? Either way, this channel has been a big help for me this year!!!
My favorite professors post the PowerPoint/note outline guides and then supplements them in class. Well, back when I attended a B&M school. I now go to school online and don’t have traditional professors. My CI doesn’t instruct, they’re just there for any support or guidance as we self-pace.
i started watching your videos in 2019 and i really loved how u used a highlighter to make those two bars next to the title. so then i starting doing that too, and then my classmates started copying me. people that use your style to make their notes neater but they haven't even discovered ur channel yet. and they're not even part of the study community in the future if they watch one of ur old videos, they will finally realise that they style was created/popularised by you!
At the start of the school year I tried a bunch of these along with my own things and I went smoothly for about a week. If you look at my math notes especially, you can see how it progressively got worse and worse as school went on. You gotta have serious dedication to do this
What I do is I focus on speed and writing everything I can when I’m taking notes in class, then I’ll rewrite them to be all pretty when I have free time. This helps me to remember the material better because it’s scientifically proven that the more you write something, the better you’ll remember, plus I’m not rushed!
tip: i take the notes in class not caring about how it looks but for what is written. When i come home, i write them again in a more aesthetic and nice way, so i have cleaner notes and I study while I do it :)
This is exactly what I do and suggest as well. It gets hard to keep up with the teacher if they are talking fast, but if I just jot down all the important stuff, no matter how messy, I can still read my handwriting and re-write it...
Chemist here! I suggest colour pencils instead of highlighters because it tends to be more spill proof and also cheaper ❤️✌️ Anyway, you inspire me a ton Jasmine 🥰
I’ve been following you since you first started your TH-cam channel and it’s soooo nice to see how comfortable you’ve become in front of the camera 🥺 Thank you for your hard work Jasmine 🤗
a new quarter is about to start for my school!! im gonna try and follow along with these and try to have notes for this quarter,, thank you jasmine! :DD edit: so that was a lie-
I will write messy notes in one note book (until it’s full) and then write the notes up neatly with extra information in my book of notes (not to be confused with my note book).
I found a gunmetal gray erasable pen and it has been a g-dsend to my notes. Not only is it not black black, creating an AMAZING tone difference when you do use black, the erasable part really makes me so happy when I make a mistake. On that note, I have NO idea how erasable works over a long period of time - but my notes from 3 years ago still haven't faded or gotten too hot to fade!
i know she said to rather write with pen, but try blue instead of black. something most people don't know is that Scientific research suggested that brighter colors help the brain remember information more easily. this also proves that having aesthetic notes does in fact increase study efficiency to some extent. this is just a fun fact to help lesson a few guilt tripping parents nagging- not to outshine this very helpful creator.
That's right fellow students don't waste your time decorating your notes because I did put alot of effort in making my notes nice previously and tbh I regret it as it kinda waste my time... I end up just writing those important ones with quick deco like Jasmine does in this video and it saves ALOT OF TIME and ITS MORE EFFICIENT

Jasmine is becoming so confident and I’m so proud of her 🥰
HER HAND WRITING IS LITERLLY THE BEST THING IN THE WHOLE WORLD
I Feel like I have always told myself in Elementary school that I will go into the year with nice notes and handwriting, and never really did it but going into middle school now after watching this video is really going to help me! 💖
i love this woman sm it's like giving me the hope i mean not only hope but she's like telling me that i rlly had that hidden smartypants hard-working excellent student in me which is i believe i rlly don't have in the first place
studyquill: title stand out is to write as normally would but using a THICK JUICY and CRISP black marker
me:...
studyquill: to add a little bit of EXTRA SPICE
me: this video is getting me hungry*
I swear her voice is so incredibly, like, comfortable to listen to, idek how to describe it it's just really nice and warm :)
i really appreciate that you considered us people with 0 talent thank you so much love you jasmine
actually stickers, pictures, and highlighter colors are very useful.
In our school we are made to write in cursive handwriting so even today I do it
In my school district my school taught us to write cursive in 3rd grade and writing in cursive for everything was mandatory until 6th grade.
"Supplies are not the thing that will make you organized and studious. You are the only one who can do that" - nice and useful quote.
I genuinely love your content, it's such a joy to watch and we're all so lucky to have you creating content for us. :)
Her makeup and neck less are so pretty. She is gorgous
I'm living for the editing!!! ♥✨
thank you for this! i love that these are just general tips and tricks. a lot of similar videos that i’ve watched bust out hardcore calligraphy or super expensive supplies and feel so impossible and unrealistic.
Thanks for the video. I like the nature background and the tips. The editing is cool too! I can’t wait to see more of your videos
I also enjoy your 2nd channel. I mostly watch this one though
I needed this because school starts next week
Advice for efficient study:
-Only take notes on important re-occurring matters and try to listen to the teacher talking and comprehend, rather than writing stuff down.
-Ask questions.
-2 highlighters are enough, me personally, I use 0
-If your teacher does not allow pen, use a black colored pencil.
-Be smart
' be smart ' how ?😭
@@younghoxcandy Like maybe think about what you say before you say so it makes sense and people think you know what you are talking about. :)
@@Arikiranix aww maybe it'll help thank you 🫶🏻
Her voice is really relaxing and sweet.
Your editing skills are editastic
Way to go girl! 👏🏻
The fact that she wrote a lot to show in this video makes me so happy and wanna subscribe!
pretty much learned this aesthetic of effective note-taking while in the process of having note-taking marathons at school and even during online classes.
Also, off-black colors can make your notes less plain than just using black pens.
thank you so much! currently in bed unmotivated and came here! but the "changing to pen when taking notes" i've naturally made that change in 7 or 8th grade and still continuing. It's awesome 🤩
why did I just realize that she dyed her hair ;-; its stunning
my favorite title style is the tall thin letters in a color and smaller black letters in cursive on top of the tall thin letters. it's so pretty and is really simple.
haha, your titles are always so creative
My old school made us have THICK colour pencils and we had to do coloured (cursive) titles, themed borders, and cursive fountain pen writing. I've gotten used to it now haha
Ooh love your hair rlly suits you 💕
Something I like to do when it comes to drawings, and stuff you wanna print, do it directly on the page you're going to write on! That way you don't have to cut AND you use less paper.
At the end of last year I was literally just scribbling on my page and telling the teachers I could understand it, I was that unbothered
Is it weird that I listen to these in the background while I study and yet my notes look not even as close as pretty as hers-? Either way, this channel has been a big help for me this year!!!
"0 talent"
I felt this at an spiritual level
My favorite professors post the PowerPoint/note outline guides and then supplements them in class. Well, back when I attended a B&M school. I now go to school online and don’t have traditional professors. My CI doesn’t instruct, they’re just there for any support or guidance as we self-pace.
Everyone else on weekends: netflix binge and chill
Me: studyquill binge and never study
i started watching your videos in 2019 and i really loved how u used a highlighter to make those two bars next to the title.
so then i starting doing that too, and then my classmates started copying me.
people that use your style to make their notes neater but they haven't even discovered ur channel yet. and they're not even part of the study community
in the future if they watch one of ur old videos, they will finally realise that they style was created/popularised by you!
5:23 @studyquill there is a weird glitch there, just letting you know
aw darn, i have no idea what happened there! unfortunately youtube doesn't allow me to switch that without deleting & reuploading the entire video
I don't see any glitch 🤷
@@navyasharma8604 it’s with the audio
It took me a very long time to realise. 😅
I thought my headphones were breaking 😂
At the start of the school year I tried a bunch of these along with my own things and I went smoothly for about a week. If you look at my math notes especially, you can see how it progressively got worse and worse as school went on. You gotta have serious dedication to do this
Even though I've watched only half of the video
But it was really inspiring
Thank you Jasmine!
What I do is I focus on speed and writing everything I can when I’m taking notes in class, then I’ll rewrite them to be all pretty when I have free time. This helps me to remember the material better because it’s scientifically proven that the more you write something, the better you’ll remember, plus I’m not rushed!
title: 0 talent
me:yep I'm in
This was super helpful. I am not in college but I am a professional who takes notes during various trainings. Thank you
tip: i take the notes in class not caring about how it looks but for what is written.
@@evasmojang yes exactly !!
Chemist here! I suggest colour pencils instead of highlighters because it tends to be more spill proof and also cheaper ❤️✌️ Anyway, you inspire me a ton Jasmine 🥰
This is reminding me of jasmine’s old note flip through videos!! 🤩💖
I’ve been following you since you first started your TH-cam channel and it’s soooo nice to see how comfortable you’ve become in front of the camera 🥺 Thank you for your hard work Jasmine 🤗
i'm honored that you've stuck with me for so long! thank you for watching
a new quarter is about to start for my school!! im gonna try and follow along with these and try to have notes for this quarter,, thank you jasmine! :DD
edit: so that was a lie-
1:14 tip: i use dual sided hilighters(hilighter on one side, marker on the other). it saves space and has more function
This new year I am going to apply this tips.. these were literally the best💞😊
k but i can't get over how gorgeous this video is, the editing dedass slapped me in the face
literally got told “don’t take notes like that” i was like “um it helps me so that’s why” 😂
This deserves at least 500k views, literally the best video about tips for neat notes
Litterally thanks for this video- even tho I havent watched it and I’m in school
Your eye make up is literally the cutest! So simple yet so pretty!! :-)
I absolutely love your notes!
Same
I'm so jealous of your handwriting! Also I just started college and your videos are a life saver!!
This is what I was waiting forrrrrr
I really like the picture idea, I think I’m going to try that this year
I will write messy notes in one note book (until it’s full) and then write the notes up neatly with extra information in my book of notes (not to be confused with my note book).
Me : tries to take notes slowly and nicely
Teachers : becomes rappers
I take quick notes on flash cards and go home and redo them cute in my notebook, it’s more pleasing and rewriting them helps me to study the terms

i know she said to rather write with pen, but try blue instead of black. something most people don't know is that Scientific research suggested that brighter colors help the brain remember information more easily. this also proves that having aesthetic notes does in fact increase study efficiency to some extent. this is just a fun fact to help lesson a few guilt tripping parents nagging- not to outshine this very helpful creator.

The 0 talent is me 😳😂
I love how her hair is silvery it’s soooo pretty
me: spends more time making notes than actually styding
That's right fellow students don't waste your time decorating your notes because I did put alot of effort in making my notes nice previously and tbh I regret it as it kinda waste my time... I end up just writing those important ones with quick deco like Jasmine does in this video and it saves ALOT OF TIME and ITS MORE EFFICIENT
1:45 nope- they don’t teach cursive at all in most places… not in my state at least
here’s something i do during my english and ap geography class lectures! i voice record the lectures and then after school i listen to them and takes notes on the recording!!
whenever I try to make my notes fancy we learn about the darkest things like-
my notes will be like 💖🍄THE HOLOCAUST🌈🌠
