And to think that Florida also has Tri-Rail, the site of some of the greatest K5LAs to ever grace the world, and unlike Coaster, they all still stand in their full glory even today. 7:17 2305 is currently sitting at the south end of Stuart Mesa Yard in line for overhaul, but they haven't even touched it at all since they moved it there as of now.
I live in Toronto, so yes I do agree that in it's emergency setting the K5CA is dismal, especially with VIA Rail recently replacing the 90s K5LA main horn on the P42 fleet, with another K5CA like the emergency horn up front... But I can at least tolerate it now on it's regular setting (which wasn't really featured other than briefly at the start of the GO clip), as I've heard that one enough that it's starting to grow on me. At least I can somewhat forgive VIA for using a K1L13 on the F40 fleet as a replacement for the K3L, and the Hybrid K5CA (Yes really) that they use as their emergency horn.
Thanks for Using My Shot When I Caught That Guy Crossing the Tracks. I Really Prefer The K5LAs on Go Transit. At Least They Don’t Sound Like This At 6:39 But All Though Some Sound Like That. Awesome Video btw. :D
Over here in the east, we have a small fleet of GP40 rebuilds in the Springfield and Hartford area that run the CTRail commuter service. These have Australian-built K5UL-AU-LS horns, lots of people seem to hate them but I personally don’t mind them. They give CTRail a distinct sound!
TRUST ME ON THIS: if you look up ACE Series IX cab car testing, they don’t use full pressure, so it is probably a much better sounding horn than you think.
This just appeared on my recommended videos algorithm and I laughed when you got to the part about Sunrail. I live in Central Florida and occasionally encounter Sunrail trains while driving and even rode it a few times. I've just gotten used to its horn noises as almost "normal" - but yes they do sound pretty bad when put up against what a good train horn should sound like.
Ngl the K5CA and K5CA-LS don't sound ALL that bad. Just got to get used to them and tbh it depends on what locomotive it's mounted on. Some sound horrible others sound actually fine
Man everyone hating on the k5ca. Its actually a nice sounding horn I don't get at all how it sounds bad especially the ones used on VIA's p42s those things are awesome. Now, when they get fouled that's a different story and I agree the fouled ones sound like garbage but not the normal ones.
As someone who likes SunRail to a pretty high degree, I can 100% say that their horns are very neglected. Besides a few replacements, about 70% of their horns absolutely suck. Also edit, most of the well-known cab cars have gotten new horns, but there’s now new ones that suck just as bad..
I hate the K5CA, it tries it’s best sound like a K5HL and fail. I rather take the horns on CSX 907, 5226, 5376, and 5476 over that piece of garbage and these locomotives have some of the worst horns I’ve ever heard
2:17 bro started busting to trains 💀💀💀💀
💀
Bro pulled a Randy Marsh.
the fact that a k5ca got replaced by a k5la recently in the pnw is hilarious (it was SDRX 922, it has a solid RL K5LA)
Sundial 2008 reminds me of a man screaming😂😂😂🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

6:39 POV you cover half the hole on a recorder:
1:58 sounds like an NJT Comet V quill tbh
I was Riding Metrolink 857 To San Clemente Pier, I Saw A Phase 4 Amtrak F40, and A Coaster F40, I Couldn’t Read The Numbers Though.

K5CAs aren’t even all that bad. It sounds like a K5HL but much more aggressive.
@@easternroutemainlinevideos6823 you have a point but go transit K5CAs are garbage

What are your thoughts on 2104 of the San Joaquins chargers?
The K5CA is actually cursed, before that on my tier list was that cursed K5LA on Sunrail 2008
Lol
Sunrail uses P2's or P5's
@@DinosDragonsYTI believe SunRail uses P3s on their cab cars, and P5s on their locomotives.
Also, the Coaster SC-44's RL K5LA horns are awesome, too.

1:48 2302’s horn 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I think all of the Coaster cab cars' new horns sound pretty good.

@5008 creations sunrail 2008s horn was fixed I rode on it 2 weeks ago it’s fix now and sounds like a p2
Wait what do you have a video of it
That's good news lol
I agree with you in EVERY way in this video

2:19 i do this too man, you not alone
The Sunrails 2008 Cab Car sounds like the Romanian State Railways class 65s Horn
Also have you only caught k horns?
2008 sounds like a dying elephant bruh
sunrail's2008 cabcar sounds straight up like an elephant
I need to get out and find some good old k5la’s. The ones that Ive personally heard were a bit of a letdown.
Don’t look up go transit 642 horn
10:59 2310 my boy
I live next to the Sunrail corridor and hearing weird horns lol
Great video 5008 🎉🎉🎉
2:17 DUDE HOW-
5:09. Oh and don’t hate the K5CA
Would it be fair to say you’re a couple fries short of a happy meal?
I love your vids 510trackside
As a central Florida railfan I don't mind the sunrail horns
Honestly K5CAs arent even that bad. lol Either that or the Avelia Liberty Euro horns.
Maybe, the K5CA doesn't sound so bad. It plays notes C, D#, A, A#, C, not C, D#, A, A#, B. I played this chord on the piano once.
5006 what happened
Erm actually it’s 5008 so uhm you’re wrong 🤓🤓🤓☝️☝️
Okay first of all he said and 5006 has a weird squeak in its horn as of mid 2024
And second off did you even go to train school 😏😏😏😏😏😏😏
And lastly my comment was made 7 days ago and your comment was made 3 days ago so you can’t be talking bro 😎

K5CA horror
All hail the potato horn
scary K5CA 😱
Funny how Sound Transit Engineers overuse the hell out of the K5CA though i havent seen myself theres videos and man its so stupid sounding
I’m sure the almighty, Australian Nathan K5UL-AU-LS would be a much better fit than that Canadian monstrosity 😅
and this is 📯
And this is-
I’ll take the worst North American horn over any European horn any day.
