    Managers and recruiters hate job hoppers because the hoppers are the workers that know their worth and don't up with BS.

    I never wanted to be a job hopper. Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, I had four jobs from Jan 2020 to May 2022. I have been hopping jobs with different job categories like Restaurant, Warehouse, retail, and some others. I really don't know what I want to even do.

      @@livingus4583 Thanks for your understanding but I wish someone had sat me down before I graduated high and talked to me about what I want to with my life. I might have delayed going into the military by year or so. I'm am still lost in my hunt for a stable career.

    As a recruiter or hiring manager, you should not jump to the conclusion that someone is job hopping when you see short stays at companies. Some people have to work W2/contract/temporary jobs to make ends meet. Also, those jobs can end on a short notice due to contract funding/company issues. I know because it happened to me as soon as I got hired. When I was a college graduate, I had to take whatever job I could get because I did not have the 2-5 years of work experience like every job post seems to have these days.

    This is really helpful. I had worked a job last year I HATED because of the toxic work environment and was lucky to score a different job a few months after being laid off. Now I am working at an IT company as a designer and the people are so easy to get along with, job tasks aren’t micromanaged and very manageable. It’s not super high paying or necessarily interesting, so when a recruiter reached out about a new position with a higher pay, I got tempted to pursue sending my work and trying to get an interview. Yet at the same time…my current company isn’t toxic, I’ve been here less than a year and I don’t want to seem like a job hopper.

    Situation with job hopping is fairly simple. If you stay in a company for 3 years and longer, you will not get as much in raise compared to hopping to another company. Basically, for all this time you’ll be yielding 75% of your potential salary.
    If I am job hopping, there is only one reason: someone offered me more. Just like the company wants to hire the best of the best of the lowest wage, I want the biggest pay possible. If the employer doesn’t like the fact I hopped for more money, there is always another employer.

    With all due respect I think now a days there is no space for Job Hopping in corporate world due to advancement in technology. If you are good in your skill set you can impress any interviewer and grab that job. It may take time but you will finally get what you deserve. Happy Job Searching.

      I work in IT and unless it is contract/consulting stuff I won't interview you. Past performance is a great indicator of future trends and can't afford to have you bail on my in an important project or maybe you grabbed girls butts in the breakroom? It raises more questions like the later.

      @@webdeveloperify It is 2024 not 2022. I doubt you will find a job if you were let go today if you job hopped often. Yes in 2009 I used to do that and I had to leave IT during that recession because everyone wanted folks who had no gaps and no more than 2 jobs in 5 years per resume. The market is more balanced now and today I can find 5 laid off folks with the same xperiecne as you desperate for any job. You bet I would look at tenure in making a hiring decision.
      In 2022 I wouldn't care.

      @@timgibney5590 First of all I am not scared to be laid off because I know what is best for me. It's a part of life. I know very well how to adopt to the situation, how to present myself and how to make a healthy relationship in very less time period. I have stayed in IT Industry from my college life working with Govt company though internship and finally in Private company. In this tenure, I have developed many contacts whom I know they will help me when there is need. Every situation can be tackled provided you are hitting right things at right spot.

    Great video! I have a history of just under 3 years, 1.5 years, and just under 2 years. Now I’ve been in a roll for a few months that’s already not a great fit and I’m looking to maybe start applying again. Do you think I look like a job hopper with my history so far?

      What matters is your approach. The company you interview with next why would it be the best fit? Why would you stay for a long time? Make sure to address that.

    It depends on the industry, I was in government contracting and leaving your job is an inevitability. If you don't leave your job on your own terms, you will be forced to leave when the contract ends. I moved jobs 4 times in 4 years from 2018-2021. I went from 87k to 145k. Moving jobs is good for trying new things and getting better paying jobs, but at some point in your later career, you might want to settle in and stay committed. I am also in cyber security which is in high demand and looking to retain talent for high pay is a constant issue for almost every company.

    I had more than 30 jobs in less than 2 years , you name it i done it , wallmart , target , other supermarkets , truck driver , gas station , different stores in different malls , in different cities , carwash , pizza , restaurants , bar tender uber eats , doordash , i mean every job i ever had was minimum wage and never worked in something related to my career but i'll start working in something related to my career this month , i never got fired the managers actually called me to come back because im actually a good 6 foot athletic friendly good worker but i just left jobs because i just get bored and want to try something new the money was good though , i feel bad because i see most of you had only 6 jobs the most on two years and you prob think im lying but i actuyally had more than 30 different jobs in less than 2 years , i'm noit going to lie i did learn a lot and i got experience learned the system but it ain't worth it if i cound trade my experience for just having one job my whole life i would do it

    I'd love to stick at one single job and build up my retirement and all that... but finding a job that doesn't treat you as a fully disposable piece of garbage is the real dream. Most only pay the bare minimum and work you to death then try to gaslight you into thinking that your pay is SO GREAT when they finally give you that little 2% raise after inflation went up 5% along with other cost of life increases.

    I am in the biotech sector and it is 1 year contract based .
    3 different companies in the space of 3 years (1 year contract)

    I have had three jobs in three years. 2020 to today (2023)
    First job: Nine months - position eliminated (out of my control)
    Second job seven months - quit due to finding a better job (better pay and better fit to career goals)
    Third job - 11 months (My original boss who hired me quit. The new boss was horrible). It got to the point I had to quit.
    Seeing this video makes me believe I have ruined my career. I feel horrible 😞

    4:17 this is all blatantly false. The only reason I ever leave my job is the desire for more money.
    I did good work and got along with all of my coworkers. I only got a new job because I wanted more money and the position I was applying for paid more than what I was making.
    I would leave my current job right now for a one penny per hour raise.
    Where do people get all these other reasons for leaving jobs.

    Engineer here, HR rarely knows enough to judge our ability. It's frustrating. 2, companies act like they own us: extremely toxic. The best option is to leave.

    If a company is looking to hire someone for a job that requires an investment of time and money before they are proficient and add value to the company, they would not hire a job-skipper. Working for a good company in a good job is a two-way street…

    If I were a hiring manager I would also look negatively on job hoppers because you are hiring for a need of the business and someone comes in to use you as a temporary stepping stone especially for career type jobs that pay well ….

      Companies will not think twice about firing you or letting you go if they feel they do not need you or they can do without you .Am not even talking about their feelings about your performance .So why should stay with a company if you find something better in terms of your career growth and pay? .I dont see anything wrong in moving jobs as long as you know what you want .If a company is keen to keep their staff, they should create a great work environment and career prospect for staff ,why would you want to leave a good work environment and a good paying job? I would even say that some employer will even place a value on you if you have moved around a lot .I the conversation should not be one way .Recruiters should know that candidate experience toxic work environment and horrible bosses and naturally would want out . That is not a reflection of their commitment.
