I've been feeding a feral mama cat plus 4 kittens for 3 wks, she still hisses at me every feeding, every encounter. Her brothers love me, rub on me, you'd think she'd learn from their behavior, NOPE. She is just a nasty cat teaching her kittens bad behavior. I am hoping to catch them soon, 7-8 weeks old now, her later. I've been doing this for 4 years, never had a mean mama before.

I won a 1 year old feral cat over, took me 3 weeks. And a few containers of deli Turkey slices. Would gradually get closer and closer till I could finally touch him. Couple years later now he is a happy indoor cat and sleeps on my chest when it’s cold and the pillow beside me almost every night. Best most appreciative cat I’ve ever had :)

Everyone talking about the cats but nobody talks about this great man feeding cats on the streets.
I sat with a cat that was like this with me. Took 4 months of me sitting outside every night with him, feeding him and a few bites n mean scratches. I'm now his whole world and I feel how much he loves me and his new home everyday. Sometimes the ones you're most afraid of or think it'll never happen are the greatest baby's. They're just afraid not mean. Every sec his guards down fills me with so much love💜

For anyone who doesn't know, cats are EXTREMELY territorial, especially if it's a mother with a litter nearby.
It doesn't matter how big you are, she's willing to tear your face off to protect her kittens.

Heaven help her she was as terrified as she was ferocious! Which sadly I can only chalk up to humans mistreating stray animals. Once the scoops were dispensed, it definitely registered with her quickly that all you wanted to do was to feed the kitties but she still felt she had to protect their "turf" while enjoying her own kibble. Bless you for taking the time and even risking injury to get food in all their little bellies! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Give the mother some time. She'll get used to you. Try being friendly using food. That seems to work :-)
The kittens are so old for the mom to still be so protective. I'm surprised, but good on her!
That isn't always the case. A feral mom will abandon one of her kittens if she senses that it's sick, it happened to one of my cats that I got when he was three weeks old; his mom abandoned him because he had a really bad eye infection

I think there are definitely ways to assist cats without causing them unnecessary stress. Offering food & drink from a distance is respecting the boundaries & protections of mother cats.
If the cats don't need help, like kittens without a mom. But if the family is doing well, Don't bother with them if the mother is ok with you, them yeah. But if not your causing her more stress than needed
There are ways to assist cats, one of the most effective ones, do not interfere when you see a kitten or a stray cat in the streets, just let them be 🥱

They’ve been selectively bred like this and they aren’t anything like their wild counterparts. It’s humankind’s responsibility to make sure we don’t breed wild cat populations.

Cats are intelligent creatures, she just felt threatened and was being, quite justifiably, a protective mother. The interaction was far from a bad one, the cat could've easily comitted to a proper attack if she felt the danger was enough... but she didn't. It was handled just fine, so stop spewing bs about forcing a camera in the cat's face.

How I wish for a community effort to clean this area and set up shelters for these cats! You could make a huge difference with a trap/spay/neuter, and release program. But I know you are doing your best.

Today at my house, a mother cat came with her two little kittens. It was heavy rain and they went to my neighbour's house after rain they were hungry so they came to my house and I gave them food. The mother cat was afraid of me and she even ran off without her kittens but then she returned. She understood that I was giving her food and not hurting them. After this the mother cat talked a lot to me even though I didn't understand anything😅 she talked a lot and came close to me. She is really cute. Idk how she'll be next morning.

Cats are obligate carnivores. They may eat the pasta and bread but it doesn't do much for them nutritionally.
