Thank you. My father was PC director in Afghanistan, 1962 - 1966 (Pop was fluent in Farsi). My brother was a PCV in Malawi and our daughter was a PCV in Mauritania. What all of them talked about when they reflected on their service was that they probably learned way more than they ever imparted to the locals. By this they meant learning, understanding, appreciating, and coming to respect cultures well well beyond their own. And this was reciprocal. People in these countries came to learn about and understand that Americans are not necessarily what is conveyed by its government or the media.

I have listened to many of the stories on the My Peace Corps Story podcast. Each one is unique and has lessons to take away from each episode. Hoping there is a continuation of more episodes some day. Thanks again!

Thanks! It was a great project, and one that I often consider revisiting. With all my other projects going on, however, the time isn't right. But it definitely has been one of the more worthwhile things I've done.

I highly recommend it. I’m 36 and while my job is fulfilling (most of the time) and tries to do good, I am working to make my life more like it was in Peace Corps.

Thanks! It must have been wild to serve in the 80s. I was in PC just as some people started having limited internet access in their communities.
