Was fortunate enough to own the E60 variant (Saloon) It's been my dream car ever since that infamous Top Gear episode and personally I think its the best M5 of all time. Late 90's early 2000's BMW M was peak. Yes the newer cars are way faster to 60 and have seamless yet boring gearboxes. But there is so much more to a car than speed. Nothing can replicate the raw and pure emotion that V10 evokes. And those looks have aged like fine wine. I never had any reliability problems either. Run it properly and maintain it without being stingey and it'll be one of the most enjoyable cars you'll drive
The e60 still looks current - I’ve owned 2, the last I had for 12 years (before it caught fire) I’m hankering after an e60 M5 now and I’m gonna have to have one 😉
The more hindsight we have, the more we realise how much of an anomaly the car is. 200mph, N/A, V10, that has an engine note more poetic than anything before, since, and I'm damn sure in the future. The S85, is an engine built with a level of compromise, in the direction manufacturers seldom venture today. When you look at the e39 and the f10, you have to wonder if someone spiked the coffee in the board room.
And what a "Beast"! OMG . Timeless classic. As you say, this BMW will appreciate like a rocket. Bangle design, " understated" and different. One of a kind! 💪👍💯👌. Thank you, Max. Something tells me, you enjoyed every second of that? 😉
Max.. that sounds absolutely incredible!! When it was being revved.. oh my.. it reminded me of the black countach being driven at the start of cannon ball run 2! Awesome.
Used it own one many many years ago. This is not a car, it’s a weapon! Unmatchable motorway performance, never ending torque. Only down side was its reliability, too many issues, and loves limp mode!
Owned one and loved it, fortunately I did have any of the know issues apart from a couple of sensors, gearbox was a bit slow but the noise made up for it! 👌🏻
Love it dearly, but come on.... All the positives "it doesn’t have a turbo, it revs to 8k rpm etc" It gets absolutely spanked by the F10 with a smaller engine and lower RPM. They didnt drop it to 8 cylinders and turbo it (just) for Co2, turbo cars are vastly more powerful through way more of the rev range.
@mikethepanel2 don't do that to classic cars especially significant rare cars is borderline retarded to start messing with them like that. Sin bin for that I'm afraid
A beast of a machine🔥…. Drove one of these years ago, a work pal had one when I worked at RB…. Loved it👌 The howl of that V10 on full chat is so addictive…. Trouble is you need a petrol tanker behind ya when you pin the loud pedal into the bull head!😳 Does have its issue but what a machine, see he’s been to Evolve for the carbon intake👊 To the owner… if you ever want to sell it I’d be interested to add to my collection.
Hats off to the owner for the registration plate. Perfect.
Thank you
Mega isn’t it?
God, I want one of these so much it physically hurts.

We all will be forever in love with that v10 sound
Still my dream bucketlist car

Thanks Keith, I certainly did enjoy that one

Thanks Richard! Amazing soundtrack
Nice video Max .. this is one of my favourite BMWs ever.
Thanks mate!
Great review
Thanks!
Such a good review and reviewer. The scenery, shots, audio/music, etc, all so enjoyable to watch. SUBSCRIBED!
Thank you 🙏🏼
She’s a beauty, Mike. ✌️
Amazing car! Makes modern cars sound like Tesla's
I would say third best sounding car of all time after the LFA and Carrera GT (all V10's)
One of the coolest cars ever made.
100%
Defininitely a dream car, top 5 for me. The ultimate wagon (well this or an Autech RS260 Stagea).
Used it own one many many years ago. This is not a car, it’s a weapon! Unmatchable motorway performance, never ending torque. Only down side was its reliability, too many issues, and loves limp mode!
That has to be the best sounding engine ever produced. Pure filth
Great production value, I subscribed. Thanks for the Clarkson throwback and as he said : “You want to take it on? Don’t bother !”
Thank you for watching and thanks for subscribing 😎
Nice review of my old girl Max 👍
Looks fabulous 2 mate! Proud to have one as well 😁
Thanks Mike 🙏🏼👍

I had the same engine in my e63 M6. Miss it
brilliant video sir , but just fyi the smg has two clutch plates as does the 6 speed manual :)
Standard engine light on 😅
Hands down, it’s the best sounding engine ever made
What about the LFA V10?
@@ofentsetsipa1578 nah still this
It’s certainly in my top 3 (I change my mind all the time) 😂
Hands down the most unrealible engine!
@@johnsmith-mk3zq No doubt that kinda puts a dent in its greatness however it's still a masterpiece
Y'all are forgetting the Audi S6 estate it also has a V10 from the Lamborghini Gallardo the 5.2L engine but detuned to 450hp and it sounds underrated
Yeah but it was shit compared to this.
This driver is crazy 😅😅😅

I love ❤it
The US population is half of the whole of Europe so there is probably more petrolheads that want manuals than there are over here
Just need a wife, some kids and a dog then. Ah, nah - I’ll keep the 911.
WHY HAS IT GOT A STUPID NON STANDARD BONNET?
Because i like it
