- Well, I've certainly been talking about my new 2024 Eastward 24' Cat long enough and it's finally arrived here in Eastern Long Island!
In today's video, I give you a detailed (maybe too detailed) walk-through/overview of the boat and trailer. Hopefully, it will be splashed and docked in about a month and we can start producing some great fishing content on this new to me platform.
Hope you enjoy.

Come back to this video a bunch. You set this up so perfect. Been watching your videos since the cobia partner boat with Sweeney. This is amazing layout. I thought your seavee was amazing, but this is incredible. What a boat. I would set it up exactly how you have it.
Beautiful. Congrats! You think it's dirty now - just wait until I spend a little time on it.
Congratulations John on your new ride. May the fluke gods smile on you.
What a fishing machine!! Wishing you days upon days of calm seas, tight lines and full fish boxes on your new boat, Halk!
Thank you Bobbo!!!!
Beautiful boat. I think you can have 4 nets on the boat with all of the rod holders. lol Doc will not have to run around trying to find one. You thought of everything and you got everything you wanted/needed. Excited to see the electronics. Pretty sure they will be capable of landing that boat on the Moon!
Congratulations John, she is sweet. Can’t wait to see her out fishing.
What an awesome layout for bottom fishing with a handful of guys
Happy St Paddy's Day... Happy new boat!
I'm glad you got your boat just in time for the stripers. Good luck and keep us informed!!
Love the layout and addition of the step
Watched two times can’t get enough. Bravo Captain
That is a real nice setup! That trolling motor is going to have the longest shaft to reach the water and stay in the water during sea swells. Again, a beautiful boat!
Congrats John! Looks like a very nice boat and set up! Just like my Cat in many ways! 👍👍👏👏
Awesome John! Congratulations, can't wait for a fluke video!
Congratulations!Fishing machine! Good luck with it😀
Congratulations !! See you out there….
Congratulations Capt, I wish you many good years of fishing!! Thanks for posting!
Beautiful boat. Good luck with it and catch'em up!
Congratulations John, can’t wait to see you guys fishing on it!
Congratulations, she's a beauty! Best of luck with her!
LOVE that boat! That's a real "money where you fish" build. I have serious rod holder envy. That thing is going to fish like a boss. Can't wait for the first video!
Congrats John!! Really nice layout and perfect for your uses. Now for the name, and the christening ceremony details... lol Best of luck Capt.!!
As Captain Omar says, once you go cat you NEVER go back!! Congrats!!
I am very excited for you for you. Congratulations! Cannot wait for videos of you fishing on her.

Nice boat John good luck with her! Can't wait to see it all rigged and fish on the deck!! I use my livewell as a bleeding compartment mostly also.
I absolutely love the way your boat looks so far. I have a pic of the exact same hatch same size all in stainless it was on an Eastward bilge access when I visited and I wanted them to use that hatch on mine and took pics and can send to you if you ever want to replace. Same exact hole size too! I thank you for linking your shipper, Im calling him tomorrow, Miami to Staten Island!!!
Congrats and good luck with her.

Nice looking boat. Enjoy
Sweet boat! I’ve been contemplating getting one of these Eastwards! Can’t wait to see efficiency numbers. Cheers!
Thanks for the tour, beast of a boat. Gonna need more rod holders though :)
Beautiful Boat John best of luck to you with it
Good luck with the boat! Tight lines!
Congrats sir enjoy your new toy
Congratulations on the new boat. Looks great. Maybe see you this year at the Gratefull deli.
☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ you sound real happy. Good for you, Good luck.
Congratulations I’ve been talking to them at Eastward and am going to go down and speck a 3000 out. Thanks for the updates
Nice - congrats to you as well!!!!
I wish I could include a picture here but I bought a boat in 2000 it was a very similar called manta ray in Miami. Almost the same exact layout! Including that little slide indoor in the back, the cap one piece floor in general construction and cat hull. Fabulous smooth ride fast and efficient and it was a piece of garbage that basically just broke apart. I see a lot of the same building techniques in your video. I hope yours is better! I hope there's no wood in the floor or anywhere else so you can have years of enjoyment
Sorry to hear about yours. All composite here including some very thick layup material. Fingers crossed!
Congrats....fun to kit out a new boat, making it your own. Best of luck with her and thanks for the vid. Look fwd to reviews once she begins to get fished. J
Congrats !
Montauk point will be the test , see you at Cartwright
Al
Dude thank you your cat is awesome
Congratulations your new boat is absolutely gorgeous
I purchased two boats from Skip Goldsmith in Southold. The last one was a 21 foot Key West Center consul and I also purchased a Grady white over Paul Egypt.
Art Strom is my buddy
We used to have a house at Nassau Point and we sold it four years ago and sol my boats been sitting in my garage here in Atlanta for four years I’m very depressed. It was no better boating nor fishing ground, then the Peconic bays & shelter island and Plum gut
Art is a great guy! I just spent almost 3 months in Florida and couldn’t wait to get back. I can’t imagine living anywhere else
Congrats on your new purchase. Hope to see you out in the bays since I normally don't see a lot of catamarans.
Looks awesome. Ur going to love the kat. I have a 36 prokat and its a beast
Boat looks awesome.
I can’t wait until you met my double digit off this boat.
Love all the rod holders
I have a tri axle Magic Tilt and love it .Tows like a dream
+
Very nice. Good luck with it.
Congrats John this looks like an awesome fishing boat. You should consider trailoring for April to access the Sound for early blackfish. I haven’t seen many early spring blackfish videos. I am going to try out of Mattituck inlet myself. I have a 23’ regulator. Hope to see you out there!
No way the Ridgeline tows this but definitely gonna try for Spring blackfish
Beautiful boat
Your videos are so good ty
Nice ride! That's a heap of rod holders.
Congrats! Please tell us youll continue to vlog! Cant wait to see it in the water!
Absolutely and thanks
Congrats!!! Was looking forward to this video big time. You turned me onto these boats and been watching them and learning about them since. Love the boat. Awesome fishability and great build quality. I work for a boat sales and service company. We sell pursuit Grady and tiara. So on a lot of high $ boats everyday and I’m very very impressed with eastward cats. Would love to see how they ride. Experience the quality first had. How does she drain, things like that. These are a lot different then say a fancy tiara or a decked out Grady that I see and on everyday.
Nice boat John. Good luck with it! The trailer would worry me a little. It looks like the front bar on the trailer only has a couple of extra inches on either side of the hulls. I would be afraid of missing the bar if the boat twists at all when loading. If I had more experience, I would probably know how to keep that from happening!
Boat will not be loaded the traditional way. She will be dry docked at the marina in wet slipping her at and they remove her with straps and a fork lift and gently lower her on the trailer
Congratulations!!
❤ congratulations! very nice❤️
Congratulations looks great
Looks awesome and congrats again! May I suggest some running footage in some of your fluke videos this year? Also, those hatches will not leak. Have the same on my Parker and it’s bone dry after any rain.
Congrats. That's a bad ass ""Aussie" fishin' machine.
Congratulations 🎊 Nice Boat, Best of luck, see ya out there.

Best of luck 👍
I saw this coming up 95n last week. I figured it was yours!
Wow!!!
Very nice!
Awesome- thank you
looks great
Good Luck with it John, looks very stable. No radar, where do you put the Life-raft. Don't fall overboard, I guess you have boarding ladder.
Radar being added
Congrats! There’s one “concern” I noted in the video, the battery switches on the external (outside) of the console? Exposed to the elements, plus very likely getting bumped into, I have to suspect that may end up being a nuisance. Normally you want those behind a door so its interesting to see their placement. I’ve never seen that before.
Oh, didn't think of that. Actually found them convenient there but yes, I think the accidental bump would be the bigger concern
Great looking boat ….congratulations…you going to charter again or just fish and make content?
Likely both
Sweeney put dibs on the swim platform
Definitely especially since gunwales inside are so high
Can he see over them?😂
I thought it may have been just the cam or the dirt but the fit and finish looks like it was made in someone's garage, even checked on their website. Wonderful layout and purpose built tho.
Fit and finish is commercial. There's no liner like most production boats
Very nice. Curious, Are you going to be getting coaming bolsters, I used sea deck coaming bolsters on my polar several years back.
The gunwales are so high I don’t think I need them. My experience is they are necessary when the gunwales are at knee level
Congratulations John ,just wondering why a kat verse a conventional hull ?
Stability and ride
Hear me out, I’ll pay for gas…. Can’t wait to see more videos on this. Would be cool if you did a cost breakdown on it
I'll definitely do that.
Im curious on how well the drift mode will work on the new trolling motor
I am too Bob. Honestly, I've gotten very adept at controlling my drift manually with the MK. Can't wait to try this out and see if it makes my life a bit easier
Congratulations i bet the cat will be a great flounder rig and wont roll like a deepvee.
Are you adding coaming bolsters for more comfortable gunnels, especially with that much freeboard?
No. My original build included them, but I deleted them when I stepped on the boat. I feel like bolsters are really needed when the gunnel is hitting your knees. The fiberglass on the thighs is very comfortable. Unless you are really, really short, none of the Gunnells will ever hit your knees.
Do you have a rough estimate for the full trolling motor installation? I'm looking at doing one myself but probably going with the Terrova Quest model.
I’ll do a full breakdown after everything is installed but expect 7 to 10k all in for a TM
Sweet Boat! I bet she flies with 2 x 225's!
50 plus but cruise should be better than 2 mpg in mid 30s
the house next door is or was my ex girlfriends house i renovated or rebuilt the front porch and redid the rails on the roof lol to funny anyway good luck with the new boat
It's a small world!
Sweet rig! Try falling out of this one Skinner.😂
Hahahaha
What was the reason for the change from the SeeVee ? Fuel Economy ??
Fuel economy, insurance, dock cost were the big three. Sea Vee was also 19 years old and was dealing with small issues all the time. Nothing bad but gets annoying
Sick boat . Lots of luck !!!
Are you still docked at
Art Stroem’s Dock by his house in Greenport ?
Negative. Will be at Albertsons
Beautiful boat John! But where do you put your rods?😂
Hahahaha
What is the out the door price for everything just curious?
@@easterneuropeantracksuit3312 it was 164 with engines and trailer. Add tax and all the electronics which I handled in NY and it was a hair under 200
Sweet vessel! Fair winds to you captain
@@easterneuropeantracksuit3312 thank you!!!!
$3700 to haul 1300 seems reasonable. How did you handle insurance? Cost?
He had insurance but I also insured the boat the day before
@@jiggingjerks ok thanks. Just confirm, did you have to get a temporary or supplemental policy just for the towing or did your normal boaters insurance cover the towing?
@@Deepimpactocean normal boating. I figured I was covered between that and the hauler’s insurance
@@jiggingjerks awesome…. Enjoy the new rig!
Coaming bolsters in the future?
You know, the original plan was yes but because the gunwales are above your knee, I decided against them. You don't really need them
Why didn’t go for aluminum cat
Way more expensive than this
How much as is?
Boat was 153ish. Trailer was 11. Taxes were 13. Electronics including installation was about 20. All in just under 200 but that literally includes the taxes and electronics
Rod holder under over was 50 I loose picked the over😂
I thought 34 is a lot lol Joe! 50?????
34 is plenty. But can you ever have too many.
