Just a note: Some folks may not realize that the cog can also be used to get a _faster_ playback speed. The video gets a little jumpy, as do the spoken words, but the music stays acceptably smooth up to about 150%. Great for working on increased playing speed. Thanks for these lessons--you're one of my favorite YT mandolin instructors.
Thanks for this one Mike. Will try and have them ready for next week's pub session! 67 is a bit old to be taking up the mandolin but your lessons are helping enormously. Small donation made this month. I'll repeat as and when I have a bit of spare cash.
Your videos are great and really helping me on my transition to mandolin from many years of guitar and bass. Your method of teaching is brilliant, thank you!
I'm here primarily for John Ryan's (I first heard it in "Message From the Fairies" from Bluey) but in part because of- and this may not quite make sense- Rattlin' Bog! I know, I know- it's just that when I saw a male chorus arrangement of Rattlin' Bog on Sheet Music Plus, the intro was the B part of John Ryan's!
I think John Ryan is played by the Irish below deck in the film Titanic but the speed they play it at!! Great bouzuoki work. My inability to play guitar accompaniment like that at sessions pushed into buying a mandolin to learn the tunes and then hopefully play better guitar. Trouble is, the guitar has been sadly neglected. :-)
What did you do in the accompaniment at the end of the second tune, B part? So neat and beautiful. It's not just the three basic chords. Wish you could teach us that, too!
But shouldn't every mandolin player be able to pick up the guitar and play rhythm for their music partner? I want to learn! 😉@@MandoMikeLessonsI'm sorry, I logged in under a different user, but this is still Carol Vargas.
@@MandoMikeLessons Thank you so much for answering didnt notice that it was a bouzouki sry about that . Thanks again for all of your work here good job!!🫶🫶

Thanks so much! Welcome to the mandolin ... it'll make your bass frets feel massive :)
Beautiful!!
Can't wait to start learning these tunes. They have such a sweet sound.
Have fun!

Isn't he playing a guitar?

It's a guitar-bodied Bouzouki :)

Good question, I will be doing lessons in the future on these kinds of accompaniment (but on mandolin)
