Thank you that was wonderful. I have never seen inside a Brethren meeting before. That was wonderful singing and impressive to see people singing hymns by memory. I am very blessed to attend a church that sticks with hymns exclusively. It's so sad to watch their demise across our province.
Hi Colin. Northfield is run by brethren assemblies, but people come to it from all different churches across Northern Ireland. The old hymns have much gospel truth in their lyrics, and it is uplifting to hear them being sung.

Hi Luke. Some ladies prefer to wear a head scarf as it is more in keeping with the Scripture. It covers more of their hair and would probably resemble what would have been worn by women during the early church. I don't think this is exclusively a Catholic tradition. Though I am sure there have been many people from a Catholic background invited to attend the meetings over the years.
Here in the. States we have various. Anabaptist groups. Amish. German. Baptists and. Mennonites who also require head coverings in the form of bonnets.
We have many sings like this all over America's Southeastern states. Do a TH-cam search for Red Back hymnal singing and you will find hours of the greatest singing and piano playing.
Which hymn book are you using? In our church we sing from "Trinity Hymnal" but this doesn't contain all hymns from here. I would like to procure this book hymnal collection you are using. Thank you very much for feedback.

Unfortunately it is not available to purchase. I have uploaded around 50 of the hymns on my channel, but there are around 150 in the book in total.

I took the recording of the singing from a DVD I was given a few months back. I took the preaching videos from Phil Cousin's Vimeo page. 2010 and 2011 were the only years video recordings were made at Northfield as far as I know.

Hi there. Graham Murphy would be an exception. I think he plays by ear and he improvises as he goes. He is very good. I havent been to many other churches so I couldnt tell whether this kind of music would be popular or not. The hymns would be well known though.

Sad to say that some place more emphasis on the music and on the sound of their own voice, and the actual meaning of the lyrics is somewhat lost.
I got saved in an old fashioned church by the Love of God through Jesus the old fashioned saviour where these old fashioned HYMNS were being sung and am still following in the old fashion WAY OF THE CROSS this I believe will lead me safely to my Heavenly HOME.

Yes, there is a special hymn book produced for these meetings, which have been going for 40 years.
