This goes out to Uncle Larry and all the other Home Skoolers. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday however you choose to spend it and for anyone that is spending it alone just know you are part of this family and be kind to yourself this season.✌🏻
You too sir. Happy Thanksgiving to you. A perfect example of why Home Skoolers are the nicest, most supportive group of people on the web. Can’t wait to hang with a room full of them next month. Thanks Uncle Larry for getting this community together.
Hey Tom, I shamefully must admit that I haven't owned an acoustic for a long time. Watching you play has made me believe that I needed to get one. I played a new Martin OM-28 at a shop a few days ago and it sounded like a piano . I bought it on the spot and have rediscovered the joys of the acoustic world. Thanks for everything you do for us. Enjoy your Thanksgiving and don't lose too much money. GO BUCKEYES.
Tremendous lesson Tom, thank you! This always comes through in what you do, but this volume is yet another great example of your hard earned facility/ability/artistry/craftsmanship, etc. The array of sounds you got in this one through your feel and technique (and imagination I reckon), inspiring to say the least. Anyhow, thankful a schmuck such as myself can watch a dude who has turned over every rock in his pursuit and shares what he found along the way on the reg. Thanks again!
Just now getting into him and doing my homework, because I’ve seen mention that Blake Mills, one of my current favorite guitarists, shares similar phrasing choices. Sounds great!
Dang, Tom. Thine cup runneth over with never ending licks and chords and musical ideas. Amazing and entertaining and insightful. We give thanks on this Thanksgiving weekend for your sharing and inspiration. (I realize that comment was possibly overly gushy, but heartfelt nonetheless)
That close up of how you palm the pick, then being able to study in practice, on a Tele none the less, Thanksgiving and Christmas wrapped up into a singular holistic event with the northern star shining brightly above it all. Damn!
The gift that keeps on giving… Uncle Larry, I wish you and your family a very Happy and healthy Thanksgiving. So grateful for the life lessons, music insider mojo and musicality you so generously share with us Skoolers. 😎
Happy Thanksgiving Tom, your family, and the home schoolers too! Thank you for all the wonderful inspiration you have bestowed upon us this year Tom! Take it easy this holiday!
So Spot On. Having an Uncle that inspires us is just fantastic. Tom shows us in a world that doesn’t always give us what we want…that there is some humanity left. I put my guitar down decades ago, but since lockdown…I have wanted to play again. Inspiration comes from many places, but to have a guy just show up one day! Many thanks to Tom! Happy Thanksgiving to all the Homeschoolers. Stay Positive and remember.. Passion is no ordinary word!
Wishing Uncle Larry, his family, and the entire Home Skoolers community a truly wonderful Thanksgiving. In a year of highs and the lowest of lows, this place has been a place of safety, solace, inspiration, harmony, laughs and most of all.....the pure joy of music. Larry's little hams have got me through some dark days and nights and I hope he knows how much this little world he built matter to me and to all of us. THANK YOU!!
I saw Dick Butkus single handedly destroy my John Brody led 49ers in Kezar Stadium. It was like the Hulk was playing middle linebacker. Happy Thanksgiving Tom. You have saved my guitar playing life and possibly my life itself with this little show. I'm thankful in the extreme for your generosity.
Unc Larry shows us there's still unuf undiscovered musical devices and combinations to cover all the Blues raining down in the world that needs serenading to
Uncle Larry, class is never too long. And these sort of foundational ones (picking and holding the pick, for example) are so valuable. Even if we should know things, having you reinforce them is priceless. Those cards take me back; incredibly cool. Happy Thanksgiving, young man. Are you a stuffing guy? What's your favorite?
Happy Thanksgiving to the HS family. Tom, I'm amped up to catch you GT, and Jed on your Bday at 3rd & Lindsley. I watched the live video (on replay) of last night's session. This new work you are putting out with friends is going to be so sweet 🎸. Stay safe EVERYONE.
Eternally grateful for all this free wisdom and experience you share with all your nephews and nieces here, Unc. I've been working on my pick-less grooves lately a la Knopfler and this lesson was another banger. Happy Thanksgiving good sir!
good point on circle of 4ths/5ths - semantics! In grad school, my teacher was very strict on practicing going C-F-Bb, etc and calling it the "cycle of dominants" - totally makes sense since we often use the chords in that way in "functional harmony" but I still practice both ways. Thanks for the great info, as always!
Uncle! You blew my mind on the his few notes going into the behind the nut bends. Amazing! You talked about holdsworth yesterday, he was the master at the piano chord grab on the guitar. You never heard that dude strum! Would seriously bet 20$ for someone to find me Allan strumming 😂
Uncle Larry just made my day with that beautiful intro tune. I also appreciate getting to hear that Tele again. She's a beauty! I could go on about how much homeskoolin’ has improved my playing, but I'm trying to keep this comment short. Have a great Thanksgiving tomorrow, everyone.
Eddie Van Halen said, "It's music theory not fact!" 🤣Uncle Larry, I hope you have an AWESOME gig at 3rd and Lindsley! I sure wish I could attend. I played there so many times back when the stage was L-shaped in the corner. I always felt bad for the drummer. I never got to play on the beautiful new remodeled stage but I've seen it. I also played Exit/Inn. They are shuttering the doors. Sad news. Hope you find your missing cards. Happy Thanksgiving! I'm grateful for your channel. 🦃🦃🦃
Geez around 7 minutes TB Starts giving the Black Metal Guys a run for their money lol. I have to say I love the chords every note rings true. Thanks for Sharing TB Hope you all had a Great Turkey Day.
Love it! I do that all the time, but because I'm not well versed in theory, I just randomly grab notes of a chord. The results are almost always surprising and inspiring. At least to me.
Watching you play a tele and simultaneously talk about music theory as you demonstrate what you are doing reminds me of those great Ted Green videos. Super cool. Love it!
DEar Tom, you never cease to amaze me how much musicis flowing out of your head straight to your fingers in such a swwet way. Even if I can't play those extended chords with my arthritic fingers I enjoy so much hearing them and the way you create so movely melodies
I always thought it was amazing when guys got pedal steel licks out of a Tele. Would be a good lesson for us. I wanna learn that stuff so much. Thanks Uncle Larry. Killer playing today btw. Happy Turkey Day....🎸🍗
Fucking priceless lessons on using your right hand! Love the way you share your perspective on playing, chords, technique and musical composition! Thank you!
Absolutele enjoyment with this studio jam on Twitch it was amazing how the song develloped and all players bringing thier best to the song. Absolute killer
As I sit here on Thanksgiving morning playing around with these voicings, I recognized how thankful I am for you Tom. Thanks for taking the plunge and starting this channel. These "classes" are incredibly valuable. There are so many sounds that can come out of a guitar and you have been very kind to show us some of the ways you accomplish this. Keep shining...
Semantics my friend...lol...And that is why Uncle Larry is the Master/teacher and we are merely students. Happy thanksgiving Tom to you and your family and all the homeskoolers. BTW, people should read the comments Tom gives, you will get some insight into a lot of information.
Tom sweet tele there, but would the magic tele video be better named drooling session man? 😂 Thanks for the pleasure you bring us. Happy holidays to all. 👍👍👍🥃Respect to you mate.
I love when Uncle gets that look in his eye that tells us that he has managed to impressed himself. Stellar work Buk. Hope you and the boys have a great Thanksgiving…..Also hope you cover the spread.
That alternate picking left my jaw dropped. Whenever I see you do something I hadn't seen before it leaves me with a grin. Makes it so easy to get why you accumulated all those "Best Guitarist" awards when you were cranking out the session work. I played an easy version of Sleepwalk in a rockabilly band. Brian Setzer's versions are great, but almost too ornate. I personally like the original on the steel. It's hard to duplicate that steel sound on a plain old electric.
Wow, hearing you trying to play Sleepwalk reminded me that I use to play that song when I first started playing bottleneck slide years ago. I picked up my old round neck Dobro and stumbled thru it just now. I play it in open G. High to low DBGDGD. Much easier to play the tune in open G for me and sounds right. Thanks Tom
This is the first video I've ever heard you play something you've played before, and man do I appreciate it. I love that rendition of Sleep Walk. I copied it from you and can also never get that 24th fret harmonic. One repeat in 176 episodes? I wonder what's coming in episode 352.
Just watched the video on twitch which was fantastic. The sweet drummer guy said out of the blue “maybe we should do some mushrooms and then that solo is like 20 minutes long” 😂
Thank you Uncle Larry!!! I always pick up something from watching & listening to your experience. I’m learning more shit now in my late, late 50’s (& since the Kung Flu) than anytime. Thanks for doing all of this stuff Dude!!! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there!!!
Beautiful tones as ever. I was inspired by the chord inversions and found that I'd need to spend time making that Fmj7 sound good - my hand has not felt this stretch in years. How about a lesson on double stops while it stretch that hand?
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! I am thankful for everyone who loves and truly appreciates REAL music!! Not the crap that they shove down our throats that THEY call music, but the real stuff. Thank you Tom for all of your insight and letting us sponge off ya!! You truly inspire!! I wanna play after every video I watch. Thank you!!
Have a great t-day Buko! Not to be a pest, but if there’s any way you can make it so those of us who can’t watch tonight’s Twitch show live can watch it on demand that’d be awesome. Thanks Bro! Your pal in Boston, Darin
Really liked the discussion on tone production with the right hand. I'm a fingerstyle player. Thus somewhat biased that fingers provide the best opportunity for tone control, but at the sacrifice of speed that can achieved with a pick.
This goes out to Uncle Larry and all the other Home Skoolers. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday however you choose to spend it and for anyone that is spending it alone just know you are part of this family and be kind to yourself this season.✌🏻
Well said sir

Happy Thanksgiving sweet Uncle Larry and all Homeschoolers. Grateful for all you’ve given us.
Happy Thanksgiving Tom and Homeschoolers!
Working my way through the backlog trying to catch up. Just want to say, please stop apologizing for the length of these videos! We love it.
Thanksgiving is the time for giving thanks and man am i thankful for Uncle Larry. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

Uncle Larry is getting into Ted Greene territory with those chord voicings! Well done!
Just now getting into him and doing my homework, because I’ve seen mention that Blake Mills, one of my current favorite guitarists, shares similar phrasing choices. Sounds great!
"I can never get that..." - well that is good to hear from this pro given the other 2000 hours of playing where he gets it every time !
Dang, Tom. Thine cup runneth over with never ending licks and chords and musical ideas. Amazing and entertaining and insightful. We give thanks on this Thanksgiving weekend for your sharing and inspiration. (I realize that comment was possibly overly gushy, but heartfelt nonetheless)

Honest, awesome, and inspiring. Never boring. Much respect Uncle Larry...
I missed this one due to busy holidays. Very nice and just what I needed on this crazy day. A breath of fresh air - thanks Uncle Larry!
Congratulations! Ann Wilson's "Fierce Bliss" album is #15 on Classic Rock's Top 30 Albums Of 2022! Nice job to you and the other Dawgs!

Sleepwalk - one of the best - played right here by one of the best!

10-4 on everyone's sediments! Tom you have been a blessing through Covid, and continue to be THE BEST and one cool cat!

Oh man, as soon as Tom plucks the 4 strings of that Am7 chord, it sounds like Tom. Love it!!!! Thanks for sharing all of these with us.

I drank 2 'fifty lashes' pale ales, very cold, a very nice Aussie beer, cheers to all the home skoolers, thanks uncle Larry for the subtle wisdom
Yes! Tele again! 🤙🏼 Thx U.L.!
Uncle Larry just made my day with that beautiful intro tune. I also appreciate getting to hear that Tele again. She's a beauty! I could go on about how much homeskoolin’ has improved my playing, but I'm trying to keep this comment short. Have a great Thanksgiving tomorrow, everyone.
dont apologize for 13 minutes lol we wish they were longer!
happy thanksgiving uncle Larry. hope yours is rad!
Man, the tones from that Tele are HUGE!! Much Thanksgiving all around, Unc! Cheers!!
“Semantics my friend” … that’s why you’re the feckin N1 Tom!

I do that to. It’s great to have that technique reinforced by Uncle Larry. (Actually, mine don’t sound as good as his.)
Thank you Tom for sharing your experience and wisdom...
Happy Thanksgiving!
Watching you play a tele and simultaneously talk about music theory as you demonstrate what you are doing reminds me of those great Ted Green videos. Super cool. Love it!
The one and only youtuber that apologies for giving too much high musicality content for free... :D man I love you

I like you! Thanks for sharing your stuff.
Man, this channel is such a joy.
I love Sleepwalk but I will NOT ever hear it without thinking of the 1987 movie LaBamba! I grew up in the 80s and loved that movie!
Awesome! Thankful and grateful for you uncle Larry 🤙😎
Fucking priceless lessons on using your right hand! Love the way you share your perspective on playing, chords, technique and musical composition! Thank you!
Blows my mind. Everything. The notes, dynamics, ability and harmonic sense. Just amazing.
I'd love to hear you playing Sleepwalking with a band - such a cool tune and you always choose the coolest chord voicings.

Hillbilly Deluxe I’m calling it. Those pedal steel like bends and rolls kill me. And some more absolutely free guitar wisdom too. Enjoy Thanksgiving!
Happiest of Thanksgivings, dear Uncle. Very thankful for your playing and your Home Skoolin.
Happy Thanksgiving Senor Bukovac!

Uncle Larry delving into Holdsworthian chord voicings. Love it.
Happy Thanksgiving Tom really appreciate your post. To damn cool. Thanks again Tommy Boy.
Great lesson. Thx!
Happy Thanksgiving. Love watching your lessons, bro!
Man that tele with some reverb is just stellar! Looks like 53?
that explains the piano style..... i might be stealin some of that
Gorgeous playing and sound! Who needs a B or G Bender?
Really liked the discussion on tone production with the right hand. I'm a fingerstyle player. Thus somewhat biased that fingers provide the best opportunity for tone control, but at the sacrifice of speed that can achieved with a pick.
A great lesson.
You are a great explainer / teacher.
Appreciate.
Have a great and safe Thanksgiving Mr. Chorusecho.
Yeah that GT guy is pretty cool. Happy Thanksgiving. Appreciate all the tips.
this is good shit my friend 👍🏼 Telecaster and a tweed deluxe is a mighty fine combination in your hands
That sweet guitar is killing me.
