  • Our diorama 'Picnic in Gelderland' is built in a 32 x 32 cm cube. The trains can only run in circles, but it has given hours of enjoyment. It's perfect for exhibition, to test a small loco or just put it on display at home. It even fits perfectly in an IKEA Kalax cabinet.
If Schrödinger only had this SQ13 camera...

At first glance the outside looked like a nicely planted aquarium!

Maybe if I make it watertight, it could become one.

Those trees: wow! Fabulous bit of work there alone! Love the chap leaning in to talk to the car, too. (Very natural - talking to a car.)
On the 'cube' idea: I've long entertained the notion of a very specific 'competition' or at least a challenge to model-railroaders: To build an entire layout within a 1m-cube dimension. (And we'll make tougher for the Americans: they have to contain it inside a 3ft x 3ft x 3ft cube! Heh-heh!)
The best part of the idea is to make the most use of the VERTICAL scale: A cliff-landscape, perhaps. A seaside. A mine. Industrial? Alps? Cityscape? ... The (un)limits are all within in our imagination. Even to the idea that a railway might ascend upwards through Time itself! Have fun!

The trees and landscape are made by this guy: mbbgroveden.com
There is a story behind the guy at the car. Grandpa is still in the car, you don't see this on the video. He doesn't want to come out for the picnic, because he says there are ants. The son in law is telling him that there aren't any ants to get him out. But there are actually ants, but don't tell grandpa.
So many ideas. I wish I had all the time to make more cubes. I am working on a next one though.

@@Tramfabriek LOL! I love the personality details. Very human, very down-to-earth (as ants are, when you think about it). Cheers!

@@Tramfabriek I think you need a giant ant from one of those 1950's sci fi / horror movies now just for Grandpa

This layout is amazing. Where is the video about how you made this layout? I can't find it.

I did not make that, but I've done some recordings. There will be one, but very busy at the moment. I will include sizes to be able to make this yourself.
