Great session, Jerry. Great tip as well. I often switch over to a longer shanked, one size larger treble on plugs that I'm fishing without a rear hook. In your situation; working with what was available at the time definitely helped with hooking fish that might have been attacking the plug from the rear.
Great video as always Jerry, I`ll be using that double ring set up from now on. The leader your using I noticed it`s 50 lbs. but is it fluoro or mono that you`re using?
Thanks Jay, I think the hook up ratio was even better then a single rear and in shallow water where the strike is often from behind. Thats plain old mono 50lb drop it on a filler spool and go.
@@FishYourWay Thanks for the info. I`ve got 50 lbs. mono for weed guards for my streamers, I tie the mono in as a loop at the eye then pinch the loop end and after tying the rest of the streamer I just loop the line under the barb and all`s good. Peace and brother love to you and all.
@@FishYourWay I was trying to think of something as I was writing the last comment and as I read this one of yours an idea popped into mind. If you cut a 1/4" piece of aquarium tubing and threaded 50 lbs. test cross ways through it maybe 1-1/2 to 2" it might do the trick, you could add more mono if needed. You could use a stopper if you needed distance between the streamer, mouse or frog, but I think the streamer would be the only one affected if at all with the guard against the eye. Hope my idea works for you, if not, back to the drawing board.
I caught so many blues in the surf. I am starting to hate long surf rods as my shoulder hurts, and you can't get fish close to a net cause they are 12 feet away I'm going back to 7 8-foot rods
Top water can be weird. I’ve used these with plenty good but haven’t in years. This year it’s my number 1 but last few years be number 10 and in popper category
Equipment failure NG... never used just belly hook..2x split rings ?...have used just a tail hook....that plug is certainly well worn..FISH YOUR WAY and Be well
Hell yea, just make sure your drag is set no more then 5lbs 1/3 the break strength. Make sure all your guides are perfect. Drag changes as line plays out, don't horse the fish, use the rod. You can get more or less drag by changing the angle of your rod tip. The lower you hold your rod the drag will loosen, higher it gets the tighter the drag. Use a good 50lb leader 3ft or so to grab. If you grab your mainline, the line will snap. The thin braids are fun and very doable but I find they wear quick via the volume of fishing I do.
I like donuts
A+
I love those Tsunami talking poppers. The white/ orange has been my go to this season and is full of serious war scars... 🐟
Yes! Seems to be season's delight! Tightlines!
Awesome video Jerry gotta love the top water
Hell yea!
BB Ruff King Bluesman! Nice fish...and I like the double split ring idea! Tightest of lines...
Oh yeah!
Great video as always . And thanks for the tip also as always great stuff!
Thanks again!
Hi Jerry, WOW !!!! You caught some monster Blues. Great job. This looks like a promising spring season. Take care, Mickey
Thanks 👍warming now

Good stuff! I dig the long shank idea, awesome thoughtful comment!
Lots of fun there. Good tip on the extra splitring..have never tried that
Worked great! The lure was hot!
Nice job!
Thank you! Cheers!
The bunker colored talking popper is the best bang for your buck.
Yes! 💯
How do they manage to get off those hooks . They got experience!
Yea! I was thinking the same! They slick!
Topwater tanks!!!
Action can’t be beat!
Two split rings for more swing you say? Hook 'swing' for better hook up or staying pegged to the fish?
All 3 - swing, peg, and hold

Do you have any idea for a removable weedguard for a fly that will not drastically alter its action or weight? Something you can take on and off

I see, good old aquarium tubings!

I agree and I limit myself to 8ft max

Hello i have a question. is 15lbs power pro braided line strong enough to catch a 30+ inch bluefish?

@@FishYourWay thank you so much
and make sure your roller on the bail is smooth, spins and tight. Also check for kinks on the bail itself!
@@FishYourWay yeah i just did that. I realize my question is actually not a beginner question. There's more into it. Thank you for the info.
