Thanks! And that's how I've always interpreted the "To you? I'm the bad guy!" line. If defending his Dark World makes him "the bad guy," then he may as well lean into it and be the biggest villain he can, for his people's sake.
I can't help but imagine that Spade King dresses up like Santa for Christmas, but then really plays the part by making his servants dress like elves and build toys for him for 24 hours straight.
I absolutely love this! Every single lyrical cover of Chaos King hits so hard and this is no exception. I especially love the parts with the legend motif. The growling in the voice is so good.

@@carnage0685 Nah fam Asgore forced himself into a solution he never wanted just because it gave his people hope. By the time you reach him, he is so disgusted with himself that he fully accepts his own death as the only option that’ll leave him happy. King is racist and was given the throne by The Knight because he was the most racist and cool with bringing the Roaring.
@@TheDramaJoshBoth of them lost everything and reacted in similar ways. The only difference is that Asgore’s reaction was rage and anger, while King’s reaction was hate. Asgore acted on impulse and did something he didn’t really want. King had a long time to decide that he really DID want to go through with his plans, especially when the Knight presented him with the opportunity. There’s also the fact that the Fountain he was guarding made him more aggressive, although to what extent isn’t exactly clear. It’s not fair to write off King’s motivations as just being “racist and power hungry”. What you see in Chapter 1 is just the end result of his journey. The fact that the game describes him as “Abandoned by the Lightners, his heart became cracked with hatred.” And the lines he says after beating him “I was not always this way…” and “There was once a time where both Lightners and Darkners could fulfill their purpose in peace…” strongly implies that he was once a decent person, likely not much different from the other Darkners. I’m not defending his actions towards the party in Chapter 1. He was an asshole and too far gone, that’s the point. That’s what hate does to somebody. I’m defending his story as a whole, especially what he went through when the Lightners left them. I had someone basically destroy my purpose, it can completely ruin your life, and you’d bet your ass that I absolutely hated their guts and did everything I could to cast them into the same pit of despair they cast me into. Asgore is just as flawed a character as King imo.

Also, with the recent release of PS! Outertale, if you tackle that one's soundtrack at any point, I personally am dreaming of hearing a lyric cover of Singularity, There's so much one could do there.
