Anyone wanting to know why the Founders designed Article III in the manner in which they did need only look at the last four years of SCOTUS nomination processes to see the wisdom in it. It is raw, naked politics right up to the Senate vote to confirm -- because once that justice is seated they no longer have the power to influence outcomes. So be it. The only area in which the Founders left too much uncertainty with regard to the independence of the Judiciary was leaving it up to Congress to establish how many justices are to be seated on the Supreme Court -- which through Democratic rhetoric has been threatened for the past two years directly. I'd rather see that written in stone through a Constitutional amendment, unlikely as it may be, and that would solidify the independence of the Judiciary.

However that was not her answer to the final direct question by the senator. Judge Barrett said that it is common practice for Senators in these hearings to ask the political philosophy of the nominee and "that is fine" (direct quote) She then meandered a bit to say that judges of different basic schools of thought may come to the same conclusions, except by a different route, or maybe not. It was a good answer, but I see that many viewers did not really listen to her response, but heard what they wanted to hear. Her answer and conclusion was to signal that she may surprise you on future cases if elevated to the seat. Also the question proposed was just crafted to make the Democratic senators and the DNC media look bad, since this senator is simply going to vote yes. She was using her minutes to campaign against DNC hopefuls as most of the Democrat caucus was for themselves. Next week she will be passed by the committee and the following week confirmed.

I was a fan of Justice Ginsberg. The last few years I personally think she should have resigned from the court. Her health was an issue. With that said she remained just so someone different than her views could not be appointed. I lost total respect for her. This woman restores my confidence in this country that women like her are coming up to keep the American dream alive.

I think contrary to what u may believe, leftists want that too. But the reason it will take at least a couple more generations is not because BLM is bringing back racism - its cuz they r pointing out that now racism is subtle and that many are racist without beings conscious of all the ways they r doing so. Once these subconscious racist policies and actions are brought to light and people stop doing them THEN we can have a world where your minority background isn't a major factor. But until then, being a minority is always mentioned because it honestly does make it harder to succeed in certain areas. I know this from research, talking with friends, and some personal experience (though I must say there are some minorities that are worse off than me so I mainly trust the research). Yeah, Democrats have been trying to explain this to Republicans for years. Suddenly, after cementing their power for generations, there's no more complaints about "activist judges", right? What a farce.
However that was not her answer to the final direct question by the senator. Judge Barrett said that it is common practice for Senators in these hearings to ask the political philosophy of the nominee and "that is fine" (direct quote)
She then meandered a bit to say that judges of different basic schools of thought may come to the same conclusions, except by a different route, or maybe not.
It was a good answer, but I see that many viewers did not really listen to her response, but heard what they wanted to hear.
Her answer and conclusion was to signal that she may surprise you on future cases if elevated to the seat.
Also the question proposed was just crafted to make the Democratic senators and the DNC media look bad, since this senator is simply going to vote yes. She was using her minutes to campaign against DNC hopefuls as most of the Democrat caucus was for themselves.
Next week she will be passed by the committee and the following week confirmed.

If you had a daughter, who would you want her to choose as a role model: Amy Coney Barter or Kamala Harris? It has nothing to do about race, though Kamala Harris would want it to. It has to to with humility, respect for others and their opinions, intelligence, honestly, decency and a quiet assertiveness; all characteristics lacking in Kamala Harris.
