Hey Yong, love the show, wanted to add my 2 cents as a former EA Support Rep... I got hired to EA Support in the lead-up to Battlefield 3. I thought it was going to be an amazing, life-changing experience (give me a break, I was young and naive). It most definitely was not. Most of the people hired meet one requirement..."can you, for the most part, speak in complete sentences?" I, as an avid gamer at the time, was dismayed by the amount of people hired that didn't games, nor had any "technical" experience. The training was abysmal. We were trained on one ticket system, but during my first day on the floor we switched to Salesforce. I had a crash course in Salesforce training and was sent back out there. I'd say I had about 2 hours of experience with the ticketing and chat systems before being put to work. Chat agents were REQUIRED to take 3 chats at a time. So, if people are getting huge delays in responses from agents?...well that's because that agent is literally having 2 other conversations at the same time. Technically we supported "over 1,000 games and services" but never received any training on it. For most issues, I would Google the problem and talk through whatever I found there. Now, most chats I took were one of 3 things...someone complaining about POGO, someone wanting a Battlefield 3 refund (which, at the time, I was happy to give because I was so disheartened and disillusioned with the job), or someone trying to scam/phish their way into getting FIFA for free. However, we were told to give away things like coupons or "unlock all Battlefield guns" for customers wanting a refund to try and keep them. All chats are monitored, reviewed, and discussed with you either during your shift or at some point later in the day/week. Everything you say is scrutinized, and if you don't have 3 active chats, you got called out in front of everyone else. There are so many other ways the job was complete BS...but this comment is running long as-is. I'll end on a positive note. I was actually pretty good at the job (I am a gamer, I understand computers and how to troubleshoot) and kept getting put on the busiest shifts. After about 2-3 weeks of this, in the middle of a shift I stood up, walked out, and handed my badge to the front desk. I met some friends at a bar in Austin (because that's where this support office was) and had a great time. It still is, to this day, one of the most cathartic moments of my entire life.
Damn, i feel sorry for you that you had to go trough that and had this rude wake up call. I think many of us would loved to have a job in the gaming industry when younger. I know i did, didn't care if it would be working for a publisher or game magazine (yeah those were big back then, websites were on the rise but not massive yet). I applied several times for jobs like you had, never had a reply btw but i guess i lived in the wrong country hehe....still, can always try right? I remember when Battlefield 3 came out. The game had some massive launch problem, for some reason not everyone was able to connect to the servers. My friend, who lived in the same town, and i both were avid Battlefield fans. He was able to get in just fine, i however was unable too. So i did what everyone does, going to the FAQ, try to find my issue there. I was told to write a post in the tech part of the forums. So i did...what happened? I GOT BANNED FOR 5 DAYS FROM THE FLIPPING FORUMS....why? No idea, i did what was asked, i was polite, i wrote down the exact problem, i wrote down that my friend had no issue at all. Gave them my specs and all the info that might been handy for them to find the problem....So for 5 damn days i was unable to contact support on the forums, but the phone number was a international call so to expensive for me back then to call up...yeah really classy way of treating customers. I heard quite a few people got banned while they reported broken things in the games without being these "Hey fuckers your fucking shit game doesn't fucking work you cunts" kinda messages. I guess the Ego was hurt alot or they didn't want anything negative about the game being public during the first few weeks.
Thanks for sharing man, I really enjoyed reading your story. I worked for several years at an AT&T customer service call center. In my time I was a front line agent, chat support, manager, and eventually trainer. Your story and the one in the video are just par for the course. I avoid customer service if at all possible since my experience. Like you said, most of the reps are not experts in the product/service of their company and extensive training is unrealistic. It also doesn't help that customer service jobs are a sink for the lowest caliber of employee to feed into. And the jobs are so exhausting that even those people don't care about the job and flee as soon as possible. The chatlogs shown in the video seem clear to me, the rep was being told not to provide a refund and do whatever it takes. I saw that at AT&T. Sadly, the front lines act hard ball and try to outlast persistent customers. Then if that customer perseveres and actually talks to a manager, they usually get what they want. The whole process is a tremendous waste of everyone's time. But this way, the company avoids giving a good amount of compensation.
Thanks for sharing your story dude. Super curious about the “unlock all Battlefield guns” part of a customer wants a refund. Would appreciate if you expounded on it

This really is showing that EA and Bethesda both at least are scam artist gaming corporations. What a major tragedy seeing how great both companies used to be... long... long time ago.
The main difference is we've basically expected this kind of crap from EA for years, but with Bethesda it came outta' left field with one huge middle finger to the fans, made of numerous blatantly stupid issues, in the shortest time span imaginable for one shitty game. lol But I agree that, perhaps, EA is just trying to maintain their reputation as the WORST of the gaming companies, and they have their work cut out for them these days. :P

@@KazumiKiguma I agree with you, we all were casuals at some point. unfortunately EA will still use the casuals and new players on their schemes, they can only see dollar signs where people used to be.
It's not just them, there are many companies who script out support to the point that they make it as hard as possible for customers to get any refunds.
@Kevo Walker: If you want to destroy EA (and let's face it, who doesn't?) then all you have to do is to stop buying and playing their crappy products. If everybody who has had enough of EA (and let's face it, who hasn't?) stopped playing and buying their games for just ONE MONTH, the company would totally implode. We tend to think of these big companies as our corporate overlords, but ultimately, it's us, the players. who have the REAL power, because we have the power to say NO to being constantly screwed over by these greedy shysters.
Man honestly, it's not even surprising enough to be a joke. Countless times, over and over again EA has proven 3 things: 1) They don't give a fuck about their customers 2) They don't give a fuck about their games and 3) They only want your money. The biggest joke, is that people buy things from them, and then make videos like this as if they are surprised they are being treated like shit.
EA, was all this bad press really worth 15$? Looks like they messed with the wrong customer. Hopefully this will force them to streamline the refund process like steam has done.
No, pirate them. That way you can still get whatever they put out as a benefit while not actually supporting them. Eventually you won't have the option of anything to pirate, but better to not deal with their inconvenience at all while still getting some benefit.
You’re fucked if you use origin since they put in clause that they can and would delete all your galleries if you do try to get your money back like doing charge back via paypal or cc company. Buying games via origin pretty much giving them liscence to screw you in the back.
what's funny is that we are not the customers anymore. The Stockholders are.. We are being farmed. We are the resource and commodity... NOT the customer.

Not gonna happen. More likely plan, get into business, work on getting a job at EA, work your way up over the years, slowly change policies while convincing shareholders that it's just going to get worse because of the bullshit rather than the bullshit being the solution, you should have more than enough evidence for it by then. Alternatively, get rich, become a shareholder, force the change. Both of those are still more likely to happen than them starving, most of their customers don't even know about the controversial shit until it hits mainstream news.
They can't do that, Jerghaal. Assholes all over the world need their latest soccer, football and basketball games just so they can have this season's new faces on them. And now, when they don't get them standard in the $60 games they bought, it seems they're more than happy to fork over hundreds more in hopes of unlocking them with lootboxes. A fool and his money are soon parted. EA has hooked millions of fools onto their products. =(
I don't even see the point in pirating shitty games.. I mean, I tried Mass Defect: Down Syndromeda for free but no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't get into it. My friend who liked it (he likes every game ever made except the ones I love) said "give it a chance, it gets better" but damn that game was way too boring and half assed. After three hours I couldn't take it anymore.. I didn't expect anything at all and was still let down, like.. Dafuq? Same goes for a lot of other EA games I guess.
Pirating games is the most ethical way of dealing with AAA game companies. And remember that "it hurts the developers" is bullshit when they're the ones that treat developers the worst

Regardless from my previous post, if this goes to court, this man has the odds stack in his favor, as he has photographical evidence, and pretty good counter-arguments to help him out. Hell, I don't even think EA's lawer's would come up with a good excuse.
Unless of course there's the fairly likely situation where some EULA or similar states that they can 'deny a refund for any reason' or something similar, somewhere in the miles of fine print you have to click through when launching the game. I wouldn't put it past them to require the user to waive any rights or offers for such as part of accepting the EULA, and hey, it's your fault for installing it and not reading it. >.< I mean, it's not like any *more* bad press will actually hurt them in any meaningful way, ever, so why should they care?
@@HeavyMetalMouse because EA is smarter than that. Even if they did put that in the EULA, it's not legal to follow through with it... They cannot take products you own for just no reason, go check out The Quartering/Unsleeved Media, he had his online Magic account banned, and he had money still on his account and stuff, and of course their EULA tries stating they can just get away with doing this, but it's not nearly that simple
@@HeavyMetalMouse In Europe, EULA's regularly get thrown out of court. The rationale here is that the courts KNOW that most people don't read 15 pages of fine print before installing and playing a game they bought, that they often can't read said fine print before buying the title (which is like adding additional contractual obligations on a customer after making a purchase, which means you deceived them) and because many of them don't comply with EU law. As far as the courts are concerned you can "accept" an EULA that cedes your first born child to EA in exchange for playing Starwars Battlefronts, but that doesn't mean EA is entitled to it. The EULA has to conform to the law, not the other way around. You don't often hear it getting that far simply because there's a lot of money and time involved in getting a case far enough along to actually get to this stage - at least not for games that cost 15 bucks. Most people just don't care enough, which is what these companies depend on. They put fraudulent or straight out illegal parts into their EULA simply because A) it may be legal in SOME countries, making it possible to deny refunds there on legal grounds and B) it gives them a bullshit excuse to say no to customers even in countries where this isn't legal, simply because customers almost never take the case far enough to actually find that out. If 999 of 1000 customers blindly accept that they have signed the EULA and the EULA says screw you you don't get your money back, then the clause already paid for itself. That last case they can simply give up on once it reaches legislation and return the money + pay a small fine. As long as it's less expensive than refunding the other 999, they made a profit. In this case it depends on what the judge would think - part of EU law is that the company has to offer some sort of refund policy. EA has a refund policy. They're now refusing to act on it. That, again, could be interpreted as deceptive behaviour (as someone might have bought a game in confidence, knowing they could return it if it didn't work, only to now find out that the return policy they read and that led to their purchase decision is not actually upheld when they actually want to return the title).
@@26muca07 I might be wrong here, but I think in cases like this you can start the proceedings on very little and just bank on the fact that, if you win, the company has to bear the legal fees because they were the ones denying you your rights. It has more to do with the fact that it takes months and months of your time, days taken off for court days, documents filed and correspondence, I'd think.
The best way to deal with this kind of thing is by going through your bank. Dispute the charge, fill out the form, include any pertinent information - i.e. the screen grabs of chat, then let the bank handle it. This is how I got my refund for Fallout 76' after they stopped allowing refunds. It takes time, but you don't need to do anything after you file for the most part. As long as you meet the business in questions refund policy (which this person clearly did), they have to give you the refund, this is required by FTC law. They generally won't argue with a bank, and certainly not for 15 euros. This person wasted far too much time on this process. Once EA said they wouldn't give them a refund I would have just filed a claim. Another option is if the company you have a dispute with is located in the US is The Better Business Bureau. This should work even if you're located outside the USA. Again, go to the website, fill out the form, which takes about 10 minutes, then wait. They handle everything for you. As long as you're in the right you will get your money back. Bottom line is; you're not powerless against companies like EA, Bethesda, and Blizzard, etc. There are people who will fight for you, for free. Use them.
@@whytho1690 No, I get it, not being about the money, its the principle of the matter. But why waste that much time when you don't have to and actually get some results? You will rarely win alone, which is why I posted what I posted. Seriously I could see EA giving this guy the run around indefinitely. I never went to the Reddit thread to look at what happened. I just wanted to inform the viewers here that there are options. Not everyone knows that you can actually dispute a charge with your bank. Not everyone knows about the Better Business Bureau, especially outside the USA. I wanted to let people know that there are options for them if they find themselves in a similar situation as this person. I know there are countless people still waiting for a refund for Fallout 76'. This is how you get said refund. The more people know about these simple ways to protect themselves from the shady ass business practices of these types of greedy companies the better. The more claims against them they get from the Better Business Bureau the better, that shit adds up, and it ain't good for companies that screw over customers on a regular basis.
Fair enough. Wasn't entirely sure if you remembered the bit I mentioned, which is why I commented. But it's a good idea to let people know about alternative resolutions to disputes of this sort, and I didn't compliment you on doing that. So thanks for the info. ( ´・ω・`) b
Until they get to the same point since power corrupts every one no matter how noble any one can be. But this is nice idea to have tho plus wounds are to deep at this point plus costumer trust is hard to get in the first place.
Don't protect that customer service by saying they did what they could and the automated system is the problem. I work in customerr service and when i see that some1 is eligible for something even though the system blocks, i go to my supervisor (or when thats not enough, a step higher) to see the problem solved. Being customer support doesn't mean you do only the things the system allows you to. It's your job to be a) friendly and b) to help solve the issue your customer has. edit: And i don't believe for a second that the customer service has no insight into the data the system provides. That would be very first time i see a customer service support system built to NOT provide informtaion.
What a service rep has access to depends on the company involved and how the program they use is set up. It's entirely possible they have no access to specific kinds of information without first being provided the correct "search code" to get to it. If their system is entirely automated (which may or not be the case, though I'd wonder why if it was automated that they'd need customer service to handle refund requests at all) then it's possible that the representative's hands are completely tied and could, at best, transfer them to someone who has wider access or give them another contact number to inquire about the situation. A lot of it depends on the position of the rep and what the company feels they need to do their job. I should know. I work at a call center myself. Certain things we can't help with, but we have resources in some instances that allow us to get a customer to someone who might be able to help. Based on the names of these representatives, their typing mannerisms and slightly broken grammar, it's pretty obvious to me that EA's support has been outsourced to India. In my experience, when the agent is so willing to dismiss a customer and disconnect a call whenever things start going bad, it's because they first started working call centers for the various scam companies that set up shop there. They follow the script very strictly, cannot deviate from it at all, and are encouraged to avoid getting a supervisor involved because that normally cuts into their paycheck more at a scam facility. Technically they're not supposed to hang up either, but when outside of that scam environment they're afforded that "freedom" so they're more likely to drop a call if things aren't working the way the script says it should. They'll take these practices into legit customer service positions and this is what happens and why India has such a bad reputation for providing terrible customer service.
Tempest I also work in customer services and we are VERY limited to the policy. Only senior managers can authorise refunds that do not fall under the policy. Sometimes it's quite ridiculous.
Just how many customer service reps have the integrity or the inclination to go beyond "the extra mile" to get things done for customers? If you can recognize from the customer rep names in this case, they are all Indian based customer service reps. Not that I have anything against overseas customer service reps but just how much initiative do you expect from cheap outsourced 3rd world country workers to have? They have KPIs to adhere to, and I doubt anyone of those KPIs are of any incentive to go out of their way to help customers.

It's a horrible practice but it does happen quite a bit in business. I should have said "probably no automated system" sorry.
I've worked in customer service for some time and based on what I've seen here, a few things are obvious to me: 1) EA's CS is outsourced, probably to India, meaning that English isn't going to be a strongsuit for anyone there and, most likely, no one working for EA as a CS rep will have the training necessary to handle anything except the most basic tasks 2) because they likely aren't properly trained in anything, they know to check some kind of refund tool and if the situation is still not resolved by that, they're completely clueless and will brush the customer aside so they don't have to deal with them and 3) there's a good chance that any of those reps could have actually spoken to a real supervisor and had some kind of override put in place, but outsourced reps typically don't give enough of a shit to bother with that. This all squarely lands on the shoulders of EA and anyone playing Origin will probably be scammed at some point or another.
I commented in the thread as a former EA Support rep (granted, this was many years ago) but I can answer some of your points. 1) My team was based in Austin, TX. Now, we didn't "officially" work for EA, but rather a company called iEnergizer that was contracted out by EA. However, when you chatted in with us, we used Origin, said we were EA Support, and acted on the behalf of EA. Now, there may be an amount of support in India, but we had a HUGE office in Texas. 2) The training is laughable. It is almost non-existent. 3) This could go either way. All of our chats were analyzed and we were scored/rated on them. It is very likely that this happened with this conversation. If you are truly awful and terrible, they'll just let you go because there's another onboarding class going on and someone to take your seat. The job was a revolving door. The biggest thing we were graded on was not HOW we resolved a ticket, but how long it took us to get the customer off the phone or chat. So yeah, the agent probably only cared to get that customer off his chat instead of resolving the actual issue.

Well its a snow ball TH-cam is much brooder nowdays...and gaming per se is mouth to mouth anyway... It might take a while but in the end all this shit comes to surface in the near future to the "average" joe... Its just a matter or time...
Casual dont care. I have friends that want to buy BFV when EA drop 50% discount. I told them recent scandal and bs. Manage to stop them, but point is they never check review, didnt do any research and never care. They just bought it cuz its new and it has discount tags.
TH-cam channels are mostly reactive so there has to be an issue in the first place before making content so there's minimal impact on sales, most AAA publishers seem to be doing a great job of f@cking up there sales themselves. Game sales data for casual players is always hard to find as the data will effect stock prices.
More and more casuals are learning how shitty EA is. Casuals tend to have more hardcore friends or friends of friends. Every year it's getting harder for EA to just continue as is but they haven't got the message yet. Gamers are putting up with less shit in general. We're all tired of it. It's true that a certain kind of casuals, the EA sports players, might keep them afloat for a while if the lootboxes ever get labelled gambling they're totally fucked because they lack absolutely any customer goodwill to fall back on. Their stocks are already imploding and they're taking more and more PUBLIC hits to their reputation all the time thanks to youtubers and other independent media, as well as our increasingly social tendencies online in general.
I recently went through a very similar experience with xfinity customer support. Almost word for word 4+ hours, multiple representatives, got hung up on and lied to. It's outsourced Indian customer support. They have almost nothing to do with the company you're calling about. They don't give a shit about helping customers. They have a script, they are paid to follow it. Nothing more. There is no room for resolving these kinds of issues.
I've been fighting with them for months now. Every time I think I've got somewhere the next month they come back and it like starting over again. They have the worst support I've ever dealt with
also pretty sure they get the minimal amount of money for working there (the indian company) so of course they dont put effort in their job. i live in germany and have a pretty decent job at the same company i made my apprenticeship. now 5 years later i earn more than others who studied and went to university for years without payment. i got promoted 2 times because I am passionate about my job, i take it serious and i have a very good relasionship with my team and my bosses. I coulnt think of having it better
Pretty sure withholding information regarding an individual's purchase history and what they do with said product (Including timeframes, since they insisted they could see it was over 24hrs) is in violation of the new GDPR rules also. The automated system is simply not compliant with the data protection law
It only is if they actually track it. Also clearly that customer was talking to some outsourced guy in India who was probably barely trained. If he pushes the issue and it catches the attention of anyone higher up at EA, I would be surprised if they actually defend what those Indian reps were saying. Either he'll give up before getting seen, or EA will take the minimum action necessary to put out this potential PR fire.
Either they admit to tracking it by saying that he passed it, or they have to take the customers word when he says he didn't pass it. Guess which is the case?!
This guy won't have the money. Even if he tried EA will just do everything possible to draw out the legal proceedings and ware him down in a financial battle of attrition until he just can't keep going. Notice how we've heard fuck all since EA went up against the Belgian government all those months ago for loot boxes? I'd bet serious money that's exactly what they're doing. They will waste as much time (and therefore money) for the Belgian government as possible until finally someone pulls the plug and the politicians who want this anti loot box legislation passed will not be allowed to continue because EA will just have too much money for them to be bothered with. I hope it doesn't work, but I'm sure it's what they are trying to do, and it's exactly what they will do to anyone who ever tries to sue them.
"Automated systems have determined that all your EA shares have been sold" But im the CEO! When!? How!? "We do not have access to this information. Bye."
12:50 - From where I'm sitting, the support agents knew about the time frame and that he fell within it, but were told to dodge questions as to when the game had actually been first launched. This is why, when asked, the agent said that it was all automated and "too difficult". The agent even said that there was nothing wrong with the website, when checking for refund criteria. The agent could be lying about that though, but if the agent is, then what does that tell you about their support as it is?
I worked in a telephonic costumer service (for a company hated in my country, that was GREAT) and when your computer refuses to do something, even if the client should get what they want, there's nothing you can do. Also most of the times your superiors are trained to help workers, and not to speak to costumers, that's why you can't put clients in contact with them, that's not their job. Probably one of the worst job ever. I can't be mad at these guys really, I can assure you they wish they could help. I'm so tired of these companies...
They didn't make any resolutions aside from doubling down on everything they were already doing. If lootboxes are labelled gambling they will finally die for good. Their stocks have already been imploding.
I used to work technical support chat for a wireless company, and we had several departments who had overseas chat groups. This is the typical level of support and knowledge that you get when you contract out a Call center overseas and the agents there are getting paid a few dollars (if that) an hour for support. Customer service is almost always an expense and doesn't provide any meaningful revenue to a company, and since contract centers are a fraction of the price of a stateside call center companies generally outsource to them. But what you save in budget, you lose in quality. The contracted agents aren't paid to follow policy or provide good customer service. They are paid to take chats.
EA will not improve as a game publisher until they see their stock nosedive to at least $60 a share (that'll be over a 50% drop from their annual high of $151 per share). Hitting publishers in the financials is the only true catalyst for change.
EA doesnt really care. They are a machine that buys up small gaming company to crank out games loaded with maximum profit for minimum cost. If the system starts failing I am sure the rats will flea the ship they are not even gamers.
It wont happen unless people playing the Fifa Ultimate Team addon, and buying the sports games stop liking sports. The vast majority of EAs income is Ultimate Team and micros. And they have a monopoly on licensed sports games. Which is the only thing console has over PC.
@@sjthjsdreadfather4867 I hate to say it, but I think you are partly right. If you followed Bethesda immediately after Fallout 4's announcement Todd said "this is our last Fallout or Elder Scrolls game for a while, I have at least two to four projects I want to work on before I return to Fallout and Elder Scrolls" as you added up all the interviews it eventually came out to "I love both these franchises but I am burned out on them, I need a break, recharge on some of the things I have wanted to make but haven't been able to so I can come back and enjoy making these games again. I am getting old and I have stuff I never got to make I still want to do" suddenly FO76 is shoved out with TES Blades. That says to me someone said "Ummm Todd they were upset to hear not much more Fallout for a while or Elder Scrolls and not many people are happy with FO4, make more Fallout and try to appease these fans!" to which Todd likely rolled his eyes and complied.

Thank you yong for being such a advocate for the treatment of the gaming consumers in the video game industry. I’ve been watching ever since MGS5 videos and now you’ve become a good news source for various things in the industry.
*EDIT* : Ive been a tech/customer support for HP for more than 5 years and this kind of service is very unacceptable. The mere fact that the customer went enough the mile to provide evidence to back up his claim, he should have been eligable for a refund ASAP! Its $15 for f**ks sake, not a hundred or more.. are u really that greedy to go down the hole for that amount? I dont know what policy EA or Bethesda have with their customer support or how they train them to assess this kind of situations, but the whole thing is 100% pure crapness on the way they handled this issue or even the other ones.
It may be that EA makes it increadbily difficult for the reps to help and if the reps don't have access to the data then not much they can do. You better believe if the company that has been outsourced starts refunding money they will lose their contract. Again stop buying EA games!
The conversations in the provided pictures make it look like he's talking to a chat bot, like those responses seem to have zero thought placed in them. I wouldn't put it past EA to have automated chat systems to make it appear like they have actual customer support.
most people doesnt have the energy or time to fight for days for that amount of €. meaning the vast majority will just get scammed by this. furthermore the 24h in itself i find as a freaking scam. if your product is faulty/not working as intended, as with every other product and service in existence, it would be 100% refund no matter if a month has gone by. only in the digital product/service scam of AAA are these scams tolerated.
Me and my buddy are gonna try the demo. But I'm considering not buying it anyhow. Besides the fact how they treat their customers, the games they been pushing out have just been either awful or just not enough content. I had high hopes for star wars battlefront 2, and it just now gotten a bit better with content.
Well if you do some research Bioware actually stood up to the mob boss that is EA and told them they wanted full control of it on release dates, micro transactions, updates and EA actually let them surprisingly enough. Yeah EAs gross sticker will be on the cover but I have a pubic hair of hope for anthem after watching hours of gameplay and analysing a lot of developer Twitter accounts, it actually seems pretty decent of a game so far, but it's easier said than done.
When the video started I was on the "they're just employees relaying a message" by the end, and seeing how they were doing everything they could to just avoid answering his question about why they did not meet the refund requirements, the employees were also a part of the problem.
15 euros? They are seriously cheating their customer because they don't want to return 15 euros? I kinda understand why they're willing to go to court for FIFA's lootboxes because the fine they can get is at its worst a fraction of the profits they make with their unregulated gambling. But this? Even offering their whole library for the guy as compensation to silence him before this went viral wouldn't have been exaggerated response. Out of all companies in the industry EA should know the best what happens when something gains attention in Reddit and things get out of their control. They should know that nowadays everyone is looking for excuse to grab their torches and pitchforks and hunt them down because of Battlefront 2 mess. They should know that things like these can never end well for them nowadays and yet they're still willing to instruct their staff to this? EA, don't you worry. Even though we've had many competitors for the title of most hated compamy during last year, we still remember what you did. No need to punish any more of your customers, it won't take even that much to earn that title once again
EA's refund policy is called "Great Game Guarantee". Now that's hilarious.

Seems pretty shitty, but I wouldn't expect anything less from EA.

My bigger question is: Why going to court and spend 30.000 euros in bills just because of 15 euros?
@@26muca07 I might be wrong here, but I think in cases like this you can start the proceedings on very little and just bank on the fact that, if you win, the company has to bear the legal fees because they were the ones denying you your rights. It has more to do with the fact that it takes months and months of your time, days taken off for court days, documents filed and correspondence, I'd think.
*Any publicity is good publicity*
EA still think this is true.
That's because it is for the most part
Use them.
They mentioned in the post that after a certain point, this was less about the money and more about the practice/principle.
@@whytho1690
No, I get it, not being about the money, its the principle of the matter.

I would just like to say that working on customer service sucks and I would never recommend it.
They aren't giving the Indian subcontractors access to managers who can change billing standards lol

Sure as hell does. Fuck EA.
2007 was the last time for me.

darkholyPL Holy fuck, EA was like this back then?
Yeah. That's why I hate outsourcing to third world countries. Why should some guy who works for less than a liveable wage give a fuck about some hoity-toity rich American?
That chat read more like an AI bot.

I was wondering how much of an impact the online community actually makes on the success of AAA+ games. BFV, Fallout 76 and WoW are falling, but how much do we actually control that? How many casual players dont give a shit about youtube/reviews and buy a game because of other reasons?
I let this here in case someone gives a good answer, since the question is interesting.

EA's new refund policy, "No backsies"
I worked in a telephonic costumer service (for a company hated in my country, that was GREAT) and when your computer refuses to do something, even if the client should get what they want, there's nothing you can do. Also most of the times your superiors are trained to help workers, and not to speak to costumers, that's why you can't put clients in contact with them, that's not their job.
Probably one of the worst job ever. I can't be mad at these guys really, I can assure you they wish they could help. I'm so tired of these companies...
Tip for next time: You won't get shafted by EA if you don't play their games.
Don't buy from these people. I would lose my job for anything like this.
What did you expect.....its ea.
I have a simple and easy solution that will only take a tiny bit of self control.
"STOP GIVING EA YOUR MONEY"
EA needs to be put out of business. #BoycottEA
Aaron4Prez720 ROBLOX should be put out of business but we don’t see a movement to shut them down
This sounds illegal
Callum Obrien It is.
Yes, it actually is.
On almost international level, a few more cases like this and Belgium will be the least of ea's worries.
watcher ofmemelords One can hope.
false advertisement is illegal
EA and bad publicity? It’s only just 2019 and some things never change....
They didn't make any resolutions aside from doubling down on everything they were already doing. If lootboxes are labelled gambling they will finally die for good. Their stocks have already been imploding.
cattraknoff yeah they’re in a mess at the moment and don’t seem to be trying to course correct!

Then EA will lay off employees to make ends meet, raise salaries for executive by 24% and add in loot boxes to make profit. Genius plan
@@-Meric- no one works at ea thats worth saving most of them quite and let stupid people in to their company lel lel
Why stop at $60? Let it drop to $0.06. Maybe then they'll care. But lets face it, they aint gonna stop even of it goes negative
EA vs Bethesda: Dawn of bankrupcy
I think Fallout 76 is what happens when a developer is forced to make a game that they dont want to make.
@@sjthjsdreadfather4867 The incompetence is not just the developers, check out the Nuka rum scandal and the canvas bag con and then the refund fury where customers details were public.

If you remember working call center they have write ups for refunds and shit. Illegal osha violations...they need to unionize.
The conversations in the provided pictures make it look like he's talking to a chat bot, like those responses seem to have zero thought placed in them. I wouldn't put it past EA to have automated chat systems to make it appear like they have actual customer support.
Just another reason to add to the millions why EA is a total fucking shit snake and should die a fiery death.
He still hasn't proved he launched and requested a refund within 24 hours.
We could SUE EA legally for act of negligence.
if you know someone who likes sueing people then tell them to
how about false advertising? their refund policy is clearly stated in their website, but their support staff is disregarding it
No you can't. They have every right to turn down refunds like this. They just sometimes offer one. But you aren't entitled to a refund.
@@wylie2835 That is straight up what they tell you on their site though. It definitely breaks EU laws.
@@wylie2835 according to their own website, if you fulfill the requirements, you're entitled to a refund. not doing so is false advertisement.

Bad bot might be the perfect excuse but I smell: "Our game is tanking, no refunds under no circumstances" in the air
Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they were under orders from the top which is why they couldn't give a clear reason for it.
Battlefront 2015 was tanking for a while now.
most people doesnt have the energy or time to fight for days for that amount of €.
meaning the vast majority will just get scammed by this.
furthermore the 24h in itself i find as a freaking scam. if your product is faulty/not working as intended, as with every other product and service in existence, it would be 100% refund no matter if a month has gone by.
only in the digital product/service scam of AAA are these scams tolerated.

carlos roaquin ok thanks ea
Anthem will be a load of garbage, on launch, I'm calling ti.
Me and my buddy are gonna try the demo. But I'm considering not buying it anyhow. Besides the fact how they treat their customers, the games they been pushing out have just been either awful or just not enough content.
I had high hopes for star wars battlefront 2, and it just now gotten a bit better with content.
@@MrMrdeath123 you'd still buy from EA after all the bullshit? You're why this company still fucks people lol
They're trying to avoid a precedent.. you know.. if one person can get a refund........
You know how greedy these guys are. They don't want to part with any money if they can help it.
