Plenty of horses and cyclists. Most interesting was an articulated lorry on a narrow bit of road that blocked the entire view from that side of the road and you had to slowly go around and not commit too soon. Drivers jumping red lights at junctions needing to stop. A bus stop on a country lane, same sort of story. People walking in the road on a country lane. People not looking and walking straight into the road and having no care in the world. The list could go on and on....
You're right with the ford fiestas being extremely flexible and like an automatic. The 1 litre eco boost I have from 2014 is a beast of a car that accelerates brilliantly and once up to speed mostly stays in third gear for the majority of the drive. I started training for the RoSPA recently and the biggest gripes I have with this is I don't agree with their comments on using all the gears as I know how this car performs and I drive mine mostly the same as you have in this video. Also with coasting, these cars are hard to not coast when below 10mph as they pick up speed fast. I did the DIAmond advanced motorists test and passed that and these comments were not raised with them.
Definitely discuss these points with your RoSPA team as most are open to discussing driving techniques. There is never going to be one hard set of rules with cars changing so rapidly over the last 20 years.
