Well - technically since GW "acquired" Astartes (thus making events depicted there canon), you had such depiction of bolter rounds effect on human body ;) In my humble opinion Astartes effects were even more viceral ;)
That episode is full of details like, how Titus has an unorthodox way of fighting compared to his Ultramarines brothers due to his service in the death watch and the experience he gained fighting alongside other space marines chapters. He even abandoned the coffin he was entrusted with and charged at the ennemies while the others held a defensive line, in the death watch you learn that the best defensive measure is to attack 😂
Yeah, you could say that, but remember that the whole point of this episode was about Titus' lack of fear. That's why he was able to defeat Tzeentch sorceress.
@@Tehguuui Titus didnt serve under the black templars, he was arrested by them and an inquisitor for heresy. He ended up serving penance in the deathwatch. not sure how he would be influenced by the black templars if hes being tortured and then put in stasis consistently by an inquisitor.
@@Mwinslow1467 I think he was trying to say that someone who was in the deathwatch, prob a black templar, used chains and a different grip that ultramarines dont generally use. Black templars can and definately are in the deathwatch, i wouldnt be suprised if a higher amount than normal chapters.

2:01 this slash-into-punch has to be my favorite part of this whole fight, I keep replaying it. It's such a cool way to drop two guys without wasting momentum.
I love how when they're out of combat they move like how a person would move wearing all that armored bulk, but when it's go time they move with such precision and power they're more machine than man.
I’m not a warhammer guy, infact I know very little about it, however you make more episodes like this and you’ll have a committed viewer, this was well done, entertaining, perfect music score with the action and the story was exciting to watch.
I'd reccomend watching the fanmade short series Astartes, it was taken of youtube so GW could put it on their own platform, but you can find a full upload of it's orginal version on youtube uploaded by TheChach. the guy who made it went on to be hired by Games Workshop and was one of the leads behind this episode.

This episode was definitely heavily inspired by Astartes and I loved it. The pacing and events happening throughout were extremely similar, it almost felt like an Astartes remake. I hope they turn this into something bigger.
He's on the layout team, which means he helps setup pretty much every frame, design, how they move etc. So much of their fighting action I can see from Pedersons Astartes project. So glad they scooped him up for this work, it made the difference @@snorkelwackjr
Best part is from 1:40 on, especially around 2:02 when he swipes with the axe on right hand and nearly simultaneously pounds someone into the ground with the left in one smooth motion 🦾 (edit, actually I think he takes down three guys - two with axe.. left swipe/smash to right swipe and then slight turn right to pound down 🙂) all within 1 second or so
Fun fact! Space Marines actually canonically do not produce testosterone! The gene seed changes them to use different hormones, though the naming for them is either a little inconsistent, or there's at least three different ones.
This was SO METAL I felt like the video games didn’t really make justice to how insane of a creature an Astartes was, when looking for something close to live action. This was AMAZING, loved the detail! the ominous walk; like they know nothing can’t really stop them so why rush. They need to make a full fleshed series 😭
The one issue I have with this scene is just before the melee starts the Bladeguards have dropped their shields and then clearly advance while dispatching the infantry. When the tanks autocannon opens up Metaurus then moves forward to pick up his shield. How is thst possible when it should be behind him? Still an awesome set piece.
I'm pretty sure that's not his shield, but a piece of armour from the felled Imperial Knight we see hanging nearby. It's hard to make out fully, but it looks like the driver's hatch. EDIT: No wait! It's the tilt shield from the Knight!
Ah I did wonder but I couldn't figure out what else it would be and the other Bladeguard rocked up with his shield but I think he had time to go back and retrieve it. I'll have another viewing or ten just to be sure! Thanks for the observation.

Dont get me wrong its absolutely fantastic. But at 1:30 he throws his shield down then they walk roughly 10 paces forward fighting then he picks the shield up which is a couple of metres in front of him to and picks it up to defend himself.
Not the same shield. The latter thing is a random piece of steel, which is convenient and of course highlights how silly it was to give up their shields in the first place.

I'm quite confident that it isn't one of the shields the Astartes started with, I can't say that it isn't some shield at all tho.

I am 38yo, i have been collecting/playing warhammer, titan legions, warhammer 40k, necromunder, space hulk when i was 5yo, i am so happy to see how much this table top game has grown and getting the credit it deserves, i just hope they dont butcher the lores of this universe with a movie or series like they did with Borderlands movie or witchers tv series.

I’m really excited for the various combat expert reaction to this. As a layperson it *looks* efficient, brutal, powerful, and reasonable given their capabilities. However as a layperson I also legitimately couldn’t tell you the difference between Jackie Chan showing off and Bruce Lee being out to kill someone as far as martial arts goes, so I know my lane and shall remain within it.
I bought a month of Prime ro watch this and it was 100% worth it. Some of the coolest 40k media out there. You can really feel the influence of Astartes, especially in the second half.

It's definitely not a random piece of metal at 2:27 you can see it has a handle, and for a random piece of metal it's very similar to a shield.
