The Episode feels like the creator community is really starting to lock in on Space Marine combat... I mean this is some of the sickest rendering of SM combat I've ever seen. It's like they snap into a combat mode and their whole body language shifts into cold calculations. So bad ass.
I mean all space marines are just children right? lol just heavily suppressed. I’m sure the trauma of just the trials is buried deep down and the indoctrination on top of it buried it further but that demon was able to uncover it for the first marine.
Trust aside, the mission has a ton of Warp influence - Leandros knows Titus has an abnormal amount of Warp resistance. So Titus was ideal for this mission, barring getting a Librarian involved.
A) that blade child Titus was dragging was just an Astartes knife, not a chainsword. B) The 'demon' was credited in the episode credits as just being a Chaos Sorcerer, not an actual full demon (so maybe on the way to turning into a demon but not yet)
Titus resisted Chaos once again, showing he is blessed by the Emperor, perhaps that's why he was sent, ...or it was Leandros trying to get rid of him again.
@@yaboijai122 well it probably isnt the mission from the end of SM2, as it was Calgar who assigned Titus, not Leandros. Leandros was just going along with them. And in this animation both Calgar and Leandros are not around. Perhaps we will get a DLC with said Calgar/Leandros mission and then the secret level episode is what happens after that.
Apparently Titus's home planet was almost completely devoured the Tyranids. Instead of hiding, giving up, or cryiing, the 9-10 year old child gtabs a Space Marine knife I'm starting dragging it and I would assume attacking. When he was found, he asked the blade captain if he was going to help him and if he wasn't then to " Get out of the way old Man".
I would love to be a thought in that demons mind 6:55 at that exact moment, just easily wiped 3 champions and then got stuck in the 4ths head, just “oh….fuck…”
It's fascinating that every lore tuber I have seen talk about the dragged weapon gets it wrong. I mean I get it, it's dark and you see jagged edges but genuinely interesting collective error
It's also noteworthy that they also get the demon wrong. It's literally just a regular Tzeentch demon, not a special character or daemon prince, there's a model out there as well.
@@GlassedGlass It's a sorcerer that didn't have a model, which is why people were confused because it hasn't been visually shown in current lore. It's new lore.
@@kooksies5712 My take is because of the more Non-Astartes Human size of it (to a certain extent) it could be teasing the possibility of Cultist-Sized sorcerer units becoming more of a thing (Always love a new Tzeentch model)
From what I can tell. It looks like they mostly needed Titus on this mission for his ability to resist the touch of the warp like he can. Metaurus was there to lead the mission and officially in charge, meanwhile the other two were backup, the psyker with them was just to buy them a little time since chaos sorcerer’s are very wide and varied by definition and power level
I think this episode follows up on space marine 2 ending. At the end of the game Titus was awarded laurels of victory ( which he wears in this animation) and was sent on special mission.
I loved how the initial scene on the planet shows some smashed eggs followed by some paper unburning and reforming. I see the eggs as the common explanation of entropy. How theoretically if you had infinite time and eggs, a smashed egg could reassemble itself, the odds are just infinitesimal. At the next moment you get this happening with the paper. This shows that Tzeentch has control over infinite time allowing the near impossible to become probable. This foreshadows the Sorcerers control over time as well.
"ERM AKSHULLY" sorry hate to be that guy, but its not a chainsword the kid is dragging its a knoife. you'll notice when the kid grows in the 'mind battle' thing as the kid grows the blade stays the same and when hes full size, its a knoife.
Put the "Astartes" guy in charge of all 40k animation!!!! Pretty sure the whole 40k community at this point agree that Astartes and this Secret Level episode are the two best 40k animations, not only from just the "that was awesome" point of view, but also lore! Imagine this guy making an episode for every major chapter. He's a master of "show, don't tell", and Warhammer is a community game, so just like this, do all the showing on screen, and get those from outside the community to join in to get the little details by joining the discussion with those who do know. Of course GW has the damn recipe for success in the palm of their hands, now I'm just waiting for them to mess it up.
There's a article (Secret Level Warhammer - Cool details you might have missed) on the Warhammer-Community site with more background on the episode. Apparently high ranking Ultramarines get a arming chamber with a statue of Guilliman in it. I wonder what Guilliman would have thought of that when he returned? Also, the site also notes that 'the knife Titus kills the sorceress with is the same one he was found with on the battlefield when discovered by Metaurus as a boy.'
The weapon young Titus is dragging at the start is an Astartes combat knife, the same one adult Titus uses against the cultists, when a chaotic version stabs the Veteran Sergent, when Titus kills the chaos sorceress, and is even seen at the very end being dragged by a child Titus again. Its a easy mistake to make due to the size difference, but a shocking amount of people I've seen keep making this mistake, dispite the significance placed on it during the entire episode.
Amazon released a little lore breakdown, and it was explained that the thing that attacked the squad wasnt actually a deamon, it was a sorcerer. A greater deamon would have been even more insane in my opinion
Honestly, it was great to see this episode just after learning that Amazon was finally moving forward with their live action series. It instilled a lot of confidence for me that Amazon *might* be able to pull off the series. I know Amazon probably didn't show run the episode or anything, but I'm sure they're seeing the response to this episode, which seems to be the most popular of the Secret Level series. I hope they learn from it and give us the 40K series we want. That being said, holy fuck the combat in that episode was glorious and everything I wanted to see from Space Marines. It was so smooth and fast and brutal. Really showcased how Astartes are efficient and fearless and exactly why only a handful of Marines can make such a dramatic impact. Bro shoulder checks a technical and obliterates it like it was made of paper. Wonderful episode and left me yearning for more!
I think Leandros got Titus on that mission to kill him. Id love for him to keep trying and failing to get Titus merced and he just keeps coming back like “missed me Lameandros.”
I’ve not watched the video yet, but can we all appreciate that while everyone else on the mission of assured death has an Iron Halo while Titus just raw dogs it.
Controversial theory... Titus is a lost Primarch reborn (2nd or 11th). After re-watching SM1 cutscenes, SM2 cutscenes, and the secret level I am convinced. His aversion to chaos, his absolute fearlessness, and his ability to withstand even the most extremes of damage. Nemeroth calls him brother in SM1, as he can feel the warp in him. Metaurus' vision of Titus stabbing him hints at how quickly Titus grew up. GW is definitely setting him up for something big.
Depends on situation. If the situation was the same as the original story except loyalists in place of Thousand Sons - then they would all die together attempting to kill a Fulgrim. If Rylanor was found and recovered he had completed the lure... a lot of possibilities could occur.
It's an absolutely gorgeous episode that keeps the talking short so there aren't too many new words for new viewers lol. I did a little short that covers things not listed here.
I think when they said "Mortality Absolute", they prob mean it's a high risk job that will guarantee friendly casualties and not "everyone who takes this job will die", prompting the chapter to send veterans to limit that. There's no point for any chapter to send their men to die in a suicide mission (especially veterans) when they could just contact the inquisition, who will then contact the GK to deal with it instead.
Honestly I think that this is the mission he is told to go on after the events of space marine 2, he has the laurels of victory helmet on which as we know he only gets after the events of space marine 2. He also has the right amount of studs as well for this too be true and it wouldn't surprise me that Leandros would not be part of the actual jump and has motive to send Titus on a suicide mission. Things I noticed in this video: 1. I believe that's a knife that Kid Titus was holding. No way he would be able to drag and kill anything with a chainsword meant for Space Marines 2. I'm pretty sure it was indicated after the show that the last antagonist is a Tzeentch sorcerer and not a daemon. (I think Chaos Sorcerers and Daemons are pretty different, just saying) 3. Minor detail but in a way, the parchments were of some small use. They probably served as an indicator that they were getting near to their destination, given that the squad did not have a map guide in their helmets. 4. Is it pronounced/spelled Tzanagors or Tzaangors? I'm pretty sure its the latter. Overall, no hate. Just pointing out what I think. I could be wrong✌️😅
Cool recap, although you made a small error. The creature's is not a demon. It's the Cultist Leader and just a very mutated human. This was confirmed by GW.
Season 2 already confirmed and Amazon keen for another Warhammer 40k episode (fuck the so called critics who poo-pooed it). Also Amazon/henry cavil/games workshop deal signed and ok. many people think titus was sent on this mission because leandros (fuck Leandros) still doesn't believe Titus isnt corrupted in some way, so he wanted to send him on a mission that would kill him... as it was confirmed by the Space marine 2 writers and GW that this is the mission Calgar and Leandros was on about at the end of SM2, though Calgar didn't seem to think it was a one way trip going by his dialog. I reckon Leandros will become so obsessed with trying to prove Titus is corrupt that Leandros will corrupt himself... As Tzneetch seems to playing a role in Titus's life and its the kind of thing Tzeentch would do for giggles.
This episode was made by the guy who made Astartes project The Amazon episodes will most likely be made by multi colour haired nose piercing gender studies nuts - I'm over exaggerating here but I'm still in the ball park This is like marvel and star wars , how they were good but the people who made it good didn't make the new one
Yeah, sending Titus on what was expected to be a suicide mission makes absolutely ZERO sense effing sense here. Sorry. Someone just had their bowls and brains replaced.
my head cannon is that that is not a tzeench sorcerer that is definitely a slaaneshi daemonette 4 arms tempting the space marines fear extremely fast movements and the color scheme lol
6:02 actualy, some can. An average human psyker can usualy fold a normal human non psyker like a piece of paper by using either telekinesis or biomancy. That doesnt work with a space marine though. Their ceremite armor gives them a certain material stability that cant just be bend or broken without using significant force over a certain amount of time. Souls are also a very important factor, they can give you a high resistence against warp influence. Which is the reason why the C'tan are so vulnerable to warp powers. And space marine souls are both strong from the start, thrilled by training and indoctrination. And in the end, their geneseed gives them a tiny little psychic connection to their primarchs and brothers, empowering their souls further. And then there is the other thing, no psyker is trained in all aspects of psykana at the same time. None except the Emperor, of course. This daemon prince primary aspect was certainly telepathy. To even be capable of entering a space marines mind with such ease... needs immense psychic powers. But if the sorcerers main aspect was telekinesis, all except Titus would have been killed much quicker. While Titus would have probably been barely influenced, since his soul is without doubt, nor fear and watched over by the emperor himself.
You cannot convince me Codex Virgin Leandros recommended Titus for the mission with the sole hope of him dying, despite having stopped not one, but two Chaos invasions.

Aaaaaaaaaa 666k subs, call the Inquisition! Major heresy to kill here!
Things I noticed in this video:
1. I believe that's a knife that Kid Titus was holding. No way he would be able to drag and kill anything with a chainsword meant for Space Marines
2. I'm pretty sure it was indicated after the show that the last antagonist is a Tzeentch sorcerer and not a daemon. (I think Chaos Sorcerers and Daemons are pretty different, just saying)
I showed the episode to my screenwriter friend who knows next to nothing about 40K and he just threw his hands up and said "Take mt money, please!".
1:47 You know the drill, skip the Majorkill 🫡
Not a daemon but a heavily mutated sorcerer of tzeentch. At least the credits call it a sorcerer
Was waiting for you to do a video on this. Loved this episode. It did warhammer justice.
All of titus scenes are him being goated and leandros will still call him a heretic
This episode was made by the guy who made Astartes project
The Amazon episodes will most likely be made by multi colour haired nose piercing gender studies nuts - I'm over exaggerating here but I'm still in the ball park
This is like marvel and star wars , how they were good but the people who made it good didn't make the new one
I thought the kid Titus was dragging a combat knife at the start
Yeah, sending Titus on what was expected to be a suicide mission makes absolutely ZERO sense effing sense here. Sorry. Someone just had their bowls and brains replaced.
It's not a demon it's a chaos sorcerer, says in the titles at the end
@7:41 What? I thought it was the mission he got at the end of Space Marine 2. He has the laurels of victory.
my head cannon is that that is not a tzeench sorcerer that is definitely a slaaneshi daemonette
4 arms
tempting the space marines fear
extremely fast movements
and the color scheme lol
While Titus would have probably been barely influenced, since his soul is without doubt, nor fear and watched over by the emperor himself.
you have done this so it is time for you to react to Jonathan Young and his Warhammer songs he has made
You cannot convince me Codex Virgin Leandros recommended Titus for the mission with the sole hope of him dying, despite having stopped not one, but two Chaos invasions.
