The picture at 02:48 shows Gdansk/Danzig, but not Wroclaw. This is a mistake.

There are SEVERAL views of Gdansk/Danzig instead of Wroclaw/Breslau. Not correct and very misleading. However, much of the actual narration is historically accurate along with most of the views. The Nobel prizewinners were from the time Breslau was part of Germany, not Habsburg Austria pre 1745. That was wrong.
Too bad you completely bypassed the Aula Leopoldina in the University building, the incredible University Church, and the 2 Baroque chapels in the back of St. John the Baptist Cathedral. Also, the chapel in St. Adalbert church that is made of alabaster. These survived the war because they were not burnt out, and all of them built 1680s to 1730s by the best artisans in Europe. The same as those working in Vienna. Therefore, Austrian architecture, built when Breslau was part of Austria. Other parts of the University building and the amazing Hocberg Chapel in St. Vincent's church, also from Austrian times, were severely damaged but not completely destroyed by the Soviet Army, and both were restored after painstaking work in the 1990s and 2000s by........AUSTRIAN artisans who were brought in to do the work. The Austrian legacy in this city is amazing. There would be even more, but AFTER the German army surrendered in May 1945 and the war was OVER, the Soviet Army not only raped every German girl, woman and elderly they could find, they also torched, along with many other buildings two magnificent buildings of incredible historical value that were still standing: The Breslau University library with thousands upon thousands of valuable books and manuscripts from over 600 years and the Church of St. Mary of the Sand right next door. This church had a priceless series of paintings by the amazing Michael Willamann and gorgeous carvings statues and furnishing from the early 18th century that would take your breath away. The Soviet Army totally and completely destroyed these 2 buildings and everything in them a week after Germany surrendered. Both have been rebuilt by the Poles and look very nice the same as many Polish rebuilding and restoration in this city but the priceless books, manuscripts lost cannot be recreated, and neither can the interior art of the church. Yes, the German army destroyed part of the city while defending it, including a large area with very nice 19th century buildings to build an airstrip which is a very big loss. However, the biggest losses WITHOUT QUESTION are due to the Soviet Army. Do not believe any tour guide who says the Germans destroyed "most of the city. " Some of the tour guides in Danzig, Marienburg, etc. say the same thing. Left over Communist lies from 1945 to 1990.
