Steve is criminally underrated. He first came to my attention in 1998, two years after I started playing. He is so ridiculously good, an extremely versatile player with a great sense of rhythm and melody executed with great technique and tone.
I have to say - the guy has undeniable skills and great technique...but one can’t help feeling that all the showboating could have been better saved...
Steve Stevens just recently came to my attention. Been rocking to Billy Idol all my life, but I sure did not realize just what a hell of a skilled guitar player Steve is. I think he has got to be in my top 5 for sure.

I had the pleasure of seeing Steve and the Atomic playboys from the front row at a club in Chicago. It's one thing to see him live in a video, it's another thing to witness his talents up close and personal! He was incredible, and he handed me his pick after a song. A memorable night.

Besides Atomic Playboys, I saw AC/DC w/Bon Scott, Scorpions with Uli Jon Roth, UFO w/MIchael Schenker, saw Gary Moore in one of his few tours or the US, partied backstage with Budgie, played fooseball with Cheap Trick. Fun times!
I never knew he was so good -and really understands the guitar in all genres -plus he is a lot more musical than most just (tuneless) shred kings. a pleasant surprise.
I saw them in person, many years ago, in the village. Got to meet Steve Stevens after the show ... a friend from Buffalo knew him. This Cat from Long Island, is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Definitely, one of the all-time greatest guitarists of all time. Watch and listen to some of his solo performances.
Steve has always been one of those absolutely amazing and gifted individuals that we've all been blessed to live with in this great place called planet earth..
I always liked his playing on the 80s Billy Idol hits. Tasteful rocker and he shows more depth than the average famous rocker of today. Go Steve! People think it's easy to be an entertainer and take cheap shots from behind their computers. Most couldn't pull this off.

Steve is my guitar hero. I listened A LOT to his solo albums with Terry Bozzio and Tony Levin in my formative years. He's one of the best out there. If I could pick one guy to have guitar lessons with, it'd be him.

I have always believed that SS is one of the all-time greats. Naturally, he could shred with any of the best. But if you listen to his work on "Beyond Belief" and "The Dead Next Door", you get to see how soulful and melodic he is as an artist. Steve may very well be the most underrated and under-appreciated guitarist ever.
Well put and I agree. He was certainly mainstream but he had this alternative approach to rock and metal and I found it deeper and more complex than the standard fare of the time. Although they are very different there's times where I get some of the same kind of vibe off of John 5. Some of this might be there personalities, they both seem like really great people.
This might have been at the Billy Idol show in Missippi that my wife and I attended. At least it was the same set. What a fantastic guitarist and impressive showman.

Steve is definitely one.of the greatest of all time. You could put him up against anyone and he can hang with them no problem. Steves been around for decades he knows what he is doing. And the best thing of all is i got to meet Steve on a couple of occasions.. i got to talk to him back in the mid 80s and he was probably the coolest famous person ive ever talked to 2. I actually got a picture and autograph somewhere. Id have to dig it out. I gor tons of autographs and pics and some cool memorabilia... Ive actually been asked a few times that i should start a TH-cam and show off my collection. Man i seen shows all the way bwck in 1980. First show i ever seen was Styx and that had a huge impact on me. My dad got a high 5 from Tommy Shaw and Tommy rubbed my head messing my hair up a little bit it was the coolest thing ever especially being a young teenager. Man i got to see some shows that folks would die for . I went to any and qll shows i could from then all the way up till about 2017. I think i seen bone thugs and harmony was the last show i seen believe it or not. That was actually really awesome because it was a small venue anyway. I remember the Van Halen tour 1984 85 i don't remember the name of the tour? Motley Crue in 85 was unreal. Guns and Roses 1988 Boston Mass. If my memory serves me correct. Woodstock 94 and unbelievably in 1999. My buddy almost lost his eye during all that. It was pretty wild. I like all types of music. Oh dear creek Indiana greatful dead it was either 1992 or 93 I don't remember.? Anyway 6 people i think it was got crushed to death. And nobody knew that until the show was over. Actually didn't even knew it happened until later on. Everyone flash mobbed the fences and they collapsed. Lolapalozas we're always awesome. All in yhe 1990s, the Early ozzfeast we're great red rock i seen dave Matthews and Incubus. Incubus was incredible at that time. 07-08 something like that. Any way i will stop telling my life story. Lol ive got countless memorabilia and autographs pictures etc. maybe i will start a new channel.
I've heard him play some of the best pieces while telling stories or just falling asleep (passing out) whatever and some times I think he was asleep. My whole family plays, but Steve and Jack are one with their guitars.

I know I'm late to the game, but everytime rolling stone or some other top 50 or 100 greatest guitar list comes up he's never there so there is merit in saying that, yet the man's still around. A true legend he is.
Steve Stevens is one of the true 80's Gods. He knows how to play the hell out of a guitar. I've always been a fan of him. He did drop of the radar for a while, or maybe it was me that did. But in total honestly. He's phenomenal on guitar. And this solo is no exception. It takes more balls than a ping pong tournament to do an entire rock solo on an acoustic guitar. Not to mention that his technique was flawless.

Such a great guitar player one of my favorites!! One of the most underrated!! Steve should be on a G3 tour someday!! Also uses J. Rockett pedals some the finest guitar effects on the planet!
I read this right before he played it, and knew immediately. Besides him changing the G and D up, which he did purposely, idk how one wouldn't know. This is my first listen to Steven, there will be plenty more.
Two favorite albums are the Bozzio/Levin/Stevens pair of albums. Saw Steve at a private concert in Woodstock IL when he was touring with Kings of Chaos. That was epic.
There are some amazing big guns solos over the years (Steve is a big gun too), but the usual electric guitar shred stuff (Gilbert- Racer X pauls live solo, Beach- Winger/Whitesnake, Aldrich- Whitesnake, Sykes- Whitesnake/Blue Murder)...etc etc...this one tops them all now...for me it does...anyway.!💖👌👍🤘🤘🤘🤘

I remember the Van Halen tour 1984 85 i don't remember the name of the tour? Motley Crue in 85 was unreal. Guns and Roses 1988 Boston Mass. If my memory serves me correct. Woodstock 94 and unbelievably in 1999. My buddy almost lost his eye during all that. It was pretty wild. I like all types of music. Oh dear creek Indiana greatful dead it was either 1992 or 93 I don't remember.? Anyway 6 people i think it was got crushed to death. And nobody knew that until the show was over. Actually didn't even knew it happened until later on. Everyone flash mobbed the fences and they collapsed. Lolapalozas we're always awesome. All in yhe 1990s, the Early ozzfeast we're great red rock i seen dave Matthews and Incubus. Incubus was incredible at that time. 07-08 something like that. Any way i will stop telling my life story. Lol ive got countless memorabilia and autographs pictures etc. maybe i will start a new channel.

I've heard him play some of the best pieces while telling stories or just falling asleep (passing out) whatever and some times I think he was asleep. My whole family plays, but Steve and Jack are one with their guitars.

I know I'm late to the game, but everytime rolling stone or some other top 50 or 100 greatest guitar list comes up he's never there so there is merit in saying that, yet the man's still around. A true legend he is.

Steve Stevens is one of the true 80's Gods. He knows how to play the hell out of a guitar. I've always been a fan of him. He did drop of the radar for a while, or maybe it was me that did. But in total honestly. He's phenomenal on guitar. And this solo is no exception. It takes more balls than a ping pong tournament to do an entire rock solo on an acoustic guitar. Not to mention that his technique was flawless.

I simply cannot believe the reactions that are being given here. This is one of the worst Spanish versions that can be found there. Nothing beatsthe rhythm does not the melody and his general technique is poor , timing purity harmony. Come on people I've heard 12 year old who , and I'm not exaggerating ten times stricter Can't listen critically,....... Paco the lucia.........

Two favorite albums are the Bozzio/Levin/Stevens pair of albums. Saw Steve at a private concert in Woodstock IL when he was touring with Kings of Chaos. That was epic.

There are some amazing big guns solos over the years (Steve is a big gun too), but the usual electric guitar shred stuff (Gilbert- Racer X pauls live solo, Beach- Winger/Whitesnake, Aldrich- Whitesnake, Sykes- Whitesnake/Blue Murder)...etc etc...this one tops them all now...for me it does...anyway.!💖👌👍🤘🤘🤘🤘
