Regretting things is pointless. It's part of a past that you cannot change. It's better to use the past as lessons learned or positive moments. Seize the current moment, and take action towards what you want. Also, this is important, enjoy the process. Enjoy friends.

Regret is a waste of energy. I told myself when I was a teenager I would never regret any decision I made IF given the exact same knowledge and information I had at the time I would make the same decision again. No hindsight. No "If I knew then what I knew now." Hell, OF COURSE I'd make a different decision NOW. But that's what makes regret so pointlessly toxic. Time moves in one direction and life is Trial & Error.

Regret is part of our developmental process. The psychosocial stage described by Erik Erickson clearly stage that in the later part of life people contemplate, retrospect, reflect, and regret is part of it. I find that to be true as per my observation. But it is not to say that life is entirely fully of regrets, its a mixture of counting all the blessing and being thankful for it as well. Thanks for this beautiful content.

When people say chase your passions, I get it but you have to consider reality. The landlord isn't going to care that your artwork didn't sell enough this week or that your design for a new portable ice cream maker didn't attract any investors. It's not even about big paychecks or a luxurious life, you need to make ends meet in order to stabilize yourself and then you find a way to carve out time for your passions. Also while it isn't everything, talent does count for something, I could be passionate about basketball but that doesn't mean I'm going to make it to the NBA and have an accomplished career like Kobe or Jordan.

My mom and grandma (her mom) didnt speak for 2 or 3 years cause over a dispute, they were both stubborn as ever. One day i came home and my mom was on the floor crying in apologies to her mom, as was my grandma crying the same tone on the other line. So 3 years of no contact the reconnected, about a year later my mom got deathly ill and passed away preddy sudden. And growing up i learned never to hold a grudge, cause time is precious and they wont ever get that back

These kinds of reminiscences, regretful memories, are so stupid. Regret, especially at the end of life, makes no sense.
Either there's a life after you die or there isn't. If there isn't, regret is peak stupidity. Your life happened. You're memories are all you have. No one's else remembers 1/10th what you remember about you, not even your parents or siblings. Your past is gone. It doesn't exist. There's no point in feeling bad about it. Unless...
If there is a life after death, feeling bad about things you did in the past only makes sense if you will suffer consequences for what you did. In which case regret is the wrong emotion you should be feeling. You should be feeling REMORSE: sorrow for the wrong and shameful things you did.
    Why?
So you can REPENT while there is still time.
The original Greek word translated "repent," means to "change one's mind, attitude and purpose," and carries in its root the sense of pain, so repenting from past wrong and shameful actions doesn't simply mean an academic change of mind, but a heartfelt transformation of one's mind, attitude and purpose away from your past bad behaviors, which if genuine, will lead to the transformation of one's actions away from FUTURE bad actions, in the next life.

Try not to regret your life: 1. Don't chase money, chase passion. 2. Forgiveness is something you do for yourself. You don't have to trust the wrongdoer ever again but don't hold grudges. 3. Don't procrastinate. Live today. Be brave. Time is of the essence. 4. Be vulnerable if you ever want real connections. 5. Don't stay in any toxic relationship. You deserve a good friend. 6. Tell the truth, especially to yourself. Self betrayal is the worse. 7. Dont miss exciting opportunities due to fear. Say yes. 8. Express your emotions; say what you feel. 9. Don't settle for less. There's no such thing as failure. 10. Don't violate trust especially by gossiping.

So if a family member treats you like dirt, doesn't care about you, betrays you, you should go crawling to them trying to reach out. That's the worst thing you could do. Sometimes certain family members will ruin you. If they are toxic you should cut them out and keep them out.

  • @francesbernard2445

Another thing which a person often regrets later in life when reaching maturity is each and every time they tried to force solutions to a problem instead of letting go what they could not change on their own initiatives. Because what good is refusing to hold onto a grudge while continuing to see another person as being forevermore until kingdom come less capable, less able, less moral, etc. while believing that person for their own good needs to be controlled? -- That is called lying to oneself not refusing to hold a grudge.

To all u who are or suspect u are of narcissistic family members and gaslighting, do yourself a favour. Leave them ASAP before u find yourself drained mentally, emotionally and even financially, incapable then of living your fabulous life. If u can’t leave, aim to distance yourself in some way.
