The enormously popular TV specials and series featured the incognito magician performing large-scale illusions and a few smaller-scale close-up magic tricks... then revealing the secrets of how the tricks were done.
How cool this would've been if they'd used a clear cabinet for the reveal segment. That said, even years later, this show is still interesting.

I bet these assistants were gymnasts at one time. A lot of these tricks require the girls to be very agile and flexible.
My doctor is a magicians assistant in her spare time. In her youth and childhood she took ballet classes for many years. So thats Where her Flexibility Comes from. She also teaches anatomy at a Dance Academy as a side gig.
I was pretty surprised as I heard that . A great doctor, Great role model and a really interesting person.
Magic is a great Art that more people should get involved with. And a Great activity for athletes that want to they something different

There's also the issue why the assistants are wearing shoes and then they're not wearing shoes and then wearing shoes again. Anyway, this trick used to be a staple on the Ed Sullivan Show when he had magicians appear.

Where does the stool come from?
It was in there all along. We just couldn't see it from the front angle
@@EGRJ They literally showed the stool being placed in the cabinet. Though they mistakenly didn't put it back where it was. You can tell it was moved a foot or so back.

I already knew the secret to this trick... that there were 2 other people in the cabinet with that woman... because look at the feet sticking out... both of the feet don't even look identical/the same; that right there is one of the main secrets. Now, where they fooled me was when the two women hide on the back on the ledges and then the sides of the china cabinet ( when doors are open). I thought the two assistants would just open up the back door to hop in and the camera trick would show an angle where you could not see their feet.
i originally watched this on tv WAYYYYY back in the day, just don't remember the channel(not sure if it was the channel fox I'm guessing) as I was just a kid lol.
The original specials aired on FOX from 1997 to 1998 (with a one-off in 2002 featuring a different Masked Magician), while the 13-episode TV series aired during the 2008-09 season on MyNetworkTV.
@@Tubewings he studio this was filmed at was located in Ventura, California. Yes you are correct. original episodes first aired on FOX in 1997 to 1998. I remember watching it back then!
During the original trick you could see the stool for a second before the magician tries to shield it with his body at the end. I'm surprised they kept that in.

This is one of my favorite & fun illusions, even while knowing how it's done. I think it's the way all the people need to work in unison.
