I’ll do you one even better. Hybrid safeties to corner and physical athletes moved to safety. Most of the physical athletes that are supposed to be WR make very good corners and safeties. Most have mid 70s coverage for both. Not good press but mid 70s tackling too. I got 3 3 stars that I moved to safety. All 6’3” with 92-94 speed.
I scheme it up this exact way way for better tackling when I’m zone heavy. I just user the converted safeties with 97+ speed
i had it in reverse. a 83 ovr cb who was 88 at ss and fs

@@CallMeJaden them athletes all a cheat code. Especially if you got time to redshirt them for a year. All them agile dudes who supposed to be DTs if they’re below 80 speed, I’m moving to guard for all the run plays I use where the guard has to pull across. They get there so fast and blast fools. I need all my guards over 70 speed. My first recruiting class with a 2 star I ended up with 21 athletes. They’re heavily under recruited and have hella versatility.
I like to take a tall physical with lower speed (90-93) and good strength and decent run blocking and move them to TE. Linebackers have zero chance to cover, and most safeties can't run with them either.
You have it completely backwards. Move fast pass coverage MLBs 95ish speed to SS. It’s fairly common post patch to get MLBs with 93+ speed. Moving a hybrid safety to LB will get you torched against the run due to terrible shedding and worthless blitzing. You should change the title to “Don’t draft Slot CBs”. Zone and Man to Man CBs progress extremely well and have as much speed as any position on the game post patch.

Slot corners have been the best corners I’ve seen lol. Only other corners I’ve liked in recruiting is a zone corner that had 80 man and 80 zone
this dude knows whats up. I had been recruiting the hell out Man CB's on Heisman and i run 80% man, they progress just fin in zone skills to. Slots tend to be trash for some reason. Plus the coach skills that raise their skill caps and tons of xp, they end up being full lockdown backs.
So! No joke, my last class brought in not one, not two, but three elite CBs. All 80 OVR, 6’ plus with 97+ speed, 80+ MCV (I play straight man). The last patch buffed secondary ratings … there’s great value there atm.

It tells you what type of corner he is off the bat. You can see that before you even add them to your board... Man, Zone, Slot... That's what you see... If you want zone, find all zone corners and get pass coverage LBs. Don't recruit the others, that's how you get rid of the sorry Zone skills. But do that and they can't keep up with the receiver going deep or on slants. All about balance...
You have no idea about real football. He just said the lower coverage doesn’t go up much. What team is running man all game? Oh I forgot this is EA you can run the same play the entire game.
@@EGuala21 get elite shutdown corners and linebackers and safeties that are good at zone coverage. Zone is more of a strategy concept. It's a bend but don't break concept. You're giving up 10 yard plays at will, and running backs will burn you alive. If your corners can keep up with any receiver you can run man until it's time to make sure you don't give up a big play. Running man kills a teams running game. The problem with this game is there's hardly any corners that are good man to man, but they can be recruited. Of course if you want to run man, you better be able to get pressure sending just the DL. No dominant defense runs zone most of the game. In reality screens and quick slants will be given first downs. Run man and you'll have a chance shut down screens behind the line of scrimmage nearly every time as long as you make tackles
Wildest thing, I had a 5’9” 3* gem athlete that was supposed to be a receiving or elusive HB. And turned out he was best at CB. Mid 70s coverage with the slot archetype. He turned into an 87 ovr by his JR year. He was a menace in the slot. The height didn’t fully matter since his jumping was almost maxed out from the start. Something to take note of since the athletes are getting really interesting lately.
So far I've learned depending on a guy attributes and size I could move a WR to TE, DT to OLB, OLB to S, and now a S to CB. Alot of stuff to think about for sure.
Bro I get cooked in Man. It’s like the CPU knows you’re in Man and calls like a slant, post, or crossing routes and it’s a big play everytime.
Adjust coverage to inside leverage when in man.
As long as you CB’s are fast enough to keep up with the receiver the inside adjustment will keep the CB’s between the QB and receiver.

“Scramble QB” athletes seem to convert very well to corner. Not sure why. And since the update they’re not quite as fast.
Before the update there were 94+ QB athletes everywhere.
Oh, and SLOT are almost always garbage. Either too slow, or have no acceleration.
They transfer well to safety.
You ain’t lying. My 3 star ATH QB turned CB just left early for the NFL draft.
Built my dynasty defense around man coverage I got way more interceptions, sacks, and nobody can run on my team now I got my primary Mlb as a run stopper to stop the run game easily. If you got the personnel Man Is so much more better then zone
I recruit 3star + 90+ speed 84+ agility and acc 86 change of direction. As long as they're fast they'll do. And I'll turn a SS to CB if necessary it helps for tackling
don’t recruit tight ends either if you throw the ball a lot. get physical wide receivers!!
To small though right I want to do this but the biggest wideout in mine come out more then 220
@KristopherFox-fd8vk the physical wr are usually 6'4 and up and you'll catch some with 93 speed. They can't block worth a damn mostly but they'll catch everything
@@spiderkingz89 exactly, it’s all about what system you wanna run. if you run the ball a lot, draft possession tight ends or blocking, but if you throw the ball 90+% of the time. get a physical wr

LB to DE but make sure they have quick jump
I’ve done pass coverage lbs to safety too. They make a big jump as well
@@sbd7301 my only issue with that is that I rarely find a LB with a speed above 93. You have to have a speed of atleast 93 to see the field as a DB for me
Fullback is still a thing? With the one back and empty offensive formations, I thought EA would have got rid of that position.

@@davidtaylor606If I recruit power rb I switch em to fb and put them as my power back. 90 speed is fine for a short down rb plus sometimes you'll get a good run out of em
I don’t think I would avoid recruiting corners but I think I’d be more comfortable now with grabbing some more safeties cause they normally don’t get recruited as heavily as well.
If you’re simming, I believe zone is better as well. At least in madden, the sim calls more zone than man (varying by defense) and if that carries over here then you’ll get more bang for your buck with zone cbs
I can confirm. Good playbooks and zone corners with decent man coverage and the sim will go your way later in games like 3rd and 4th. Typically the sim screws your team later in the game for a teams late push for a comeback.
I have found 3 CBs that have out classed safties. 1 was a 99 speed 98 accel 99 agility 99 jump and 99 man. Press was his shortcoming though at a whooping 47 but that's ok I'll just won't press. He got me 7 picks his first year along with 9 TDs. Those are mix of Returns punts kicks and INTs.
The bigger issue I’ve found with safeties at CB, is their change of direction is typically lower.

I dont recruit QB/CB/LB/WR/RB/TE/S. Because most can be covered by ATH. Id rather have a 88 Speed ATH at LB then a 83 Speed 4* LB recruit. I only go after Tall freaks at WR because I can get a 90+ Speed 6'2 Scrambler and move him to WR I dont need to recruit a 6'0 WR. I dont need a 65 Man/Zone CB when I can move a Scrambler ATH to CB.
This is what I realized very recently. I was recruiting slot and man corners which was not useful for me in my scheme. U are onto something with the receiving backs... its always better to have a WR at RB then a receiving back they have more speed, better catching, and ironically usually weigh more anyway.

Presonally, I prefer to have one of each. If a team has a big elite WR. Ill throw my man coverage CB on him to follow. Adjusting your D from the line from a zone to a man coverage on some downs will confuse the AI and get you sacks/int's.
My first season with Coastal Carolina, I moved two 3 star ATH QBs to CB and they both took the starting jobs. 6’3 92 speed ish. They absolutely dominated and one just went pro early at 95 overall and the other won DB of the year and is 92 overall as a SR
Straight up I don’t even scout for strong safteys I typically go after hybrid free safeties

i started with USC but i was able to edit a QB - RB - WR - 2LT- 2RE-LE-DT- 2 corners- 1ROLB all to 99 before starting my Dynasty to give me the upper hand.

My Running Back and ROLB went to NFL early as juniors and a lost a bunch of talent with my seniors leaving.
My two corners are dynamic playmakers and will be coming back for their sophmore years.
I use one on the outside and I move the other 99 corner to safety when i'm in 4'3 defense. Slot when i'm in nickel.
I've noticed its harder to recruit top corners when you have guys in place on the roster that are 99's.
I'm finishing up Red Shirting my incoming class this year and gearing up for year 2 of recruiting.

This only matters in you're zone or man heavy...but that's like dealing with run stoppers vs pass rushers...it's just archetypes

Nice job with this. You highlight the importance of finding guys that fit your scheme and not just playing the guys with the highest overalls…. However! You mention progression many times but fail to talk about the importance of skill caps. Sometimes you just gotta take a chance on some of these archetype heavy guys and see if they have high caps in those off archetype areas. Those can end up being your well rounded studs.
I found that fast wrs make good rbs as well since most rbs lack top end speed

Only time I press is while running cover 2 man, and I'll shade coverage underneath. The press is real aggressive and you got safety help over the top. Started getting more interceptions that way
Running man is no fool… u have to adjust your DBs LBs & Dline every play u can’t pick a play & think the assignments are going to be correct u have to adjust & I kinda like it like that
On top of that when u recruit the development trait is what’s important
I recruited a 3 star QB as a backup, and he had 29 throw accuracy. Some of these recruits are wild.
It’s okay to play man ( which I also do) but for me it works best when I’m blitzing with my front 7 or six ( which I do 99% of the time) and my top CB has 11 picks but maybe that because I play on all American instead of heisman

Corners are especially rough at small schools where you're mostly getting 3 star players. Rare to find one with well rounded athleticism. Some will have 93 speed but 84 acceleration and 79 change of direction. That's not even good for a linebacker.
Cover 2 man with press took my defense up a tier in certain situations

I see ppl sayin man is hard to run but tbh I have success with it. I run either 3-4 multiple pr 4-2-5 playbook and if I'm in man with safeties over top, shade underneath and it's pretty tight coverage usually
Slot guys are known for there change of direction, man to man is speed, zone guys can have speed and zone coverage
The attributes shown depend on the player's tendency. For example, deep accuracy isn't shown for scramblers and I recruited one with 86 deep accuracy.

Someone told me their CB started with like 71 man and 79 zone and he went to a 71 man 99 zone. It’s how they are using their skill points they only improve one thing.
My qb maxed his IQ before anything else and I was begging for just a little more accuracy or power.

@@jahnj2523heisman is the reason you can’t stop anything. I’d recommend all American with realistic sliders and tune them for difficulty if need be.
Average corners get moved to safety because I will take the speed o er great tackling. Average safeties move to lb. Same mediocre tackling is trumped by speed.
Anything for the click I see. Scramblers do make good corners and can develop into beast but that doesn’t mean that corners should be ignored.
The man guys are for slot especially with that speed so he gets in the back field on tosses and stretches
They did the man corners dirty in this game like even my 99ovr man corners I made in teambuilder get cooked by 80 ovr receivers and mind you my corners have 99speed, 99press, 99man, 99zone it’s ridiculous

I recruited a safety and converted him to OLB. He was 69 overall as a safety and 70 as a OLB. The mf was like 6ft 215 with high strength and 84 speed. I moved him to OLB and he has turned into a MF beast. He may get drafted. He is a redshirt sophmore now rated 84 overall. He could easily get above 90 and is a dog blitzing off the edge.
Hyumes went in the 2nd round with me and he was a 90 overall lol

And you can play man but you have to blitz. Or you will forever be in trouble.
My strategy for all DBs are tall; fast and able to play a zone. Man is fucking trash. And I’ll just play the player if I need a man cover.
I just look at speed, all my fast guys see the field and it's working...gotta be at least 89 spd to see the field otherwise I encourage them to transfer
There really isnt a true distinction between slot CBs vs man to man or zone if we're being honest. I prefer Man to Man over zone but man coverage is pretty useless in EA football games which is a shame. I feel like moving a CB to S only really makes sense if they can tackle and rarely can CBs tackle as well as a S.
I wonder if youre better off cutting all the cb you can and keeping extra safeties as safeties for the progression but starting them in the cb slots too.

I don't know if im tripping but b4 the patch qbs and wrs i could find with crazy speed like i found a wr that had 101 but 99 during the season and for the past 2 seasons i haven't found a qb over 91 i scouted every scrambling qb i could this last season the highest was 87 and cbs had low speed 91 92 93 but now its the opposite i got 4 cbs with 97 + speed and can't find a qb 95 +
You not tripping. The +100 speed was a bug anyway and it would go to 99 as you know. They definitely decreased the gem or random qbs with 95 speed
All I do is blitz so speed+man works for me
I'm not addressing whether to recruit CBs or not because all the positions get highs and lows. I've gone the last 5 years or so and found one Elite OLB whereas I have 4 Elite CBs and another I moved to SS because I don't need 5 on my roster right now. The real problem sounds like you not being good enough to get the right players in the right situations. If you run predominantly Zone then why are you even valuing their Man? If they have a bad Zone they're trash? Nah, sounds more like you trash and you just needeveryone to have high stats to cover your lack of skill.

You have to have man and zone corners on your roster in my opinion. Also you gotta put man corners in position to succeed the same way you do for your zone cbs. Also obviously you’re going to get cooked in press coverage if you have slow corners and you’re not setting the coverage correctly pre snap. You can’t have your cb pressing and not have him playing over top coverage pre snap. I even shade my cbs inside pres snap in order to take away I side routes and deep passes. It’s all about football iq. You gotta take something away from the WRs in man coverage. You can’t just try to press
Man coverage is just straight up garbage compared to Zone in this game (and in most recent football games) imo. There’s very few times where it makes sense to play man considering how easy it is to get beat by a slant, corner, curl or four vert concept when you do.
@@Leodoesthings23 yeah if you’re not setting your coverages pre snap. Zone is the lazy safe defense. But a good qb can pick a part a zone too. I like to mix my coverages up. I’m not saying I run strictly man coverage. But I like to blitz and put pressure on QBs and force them to make quick decisions. If you set your man coverage pre snap to be prepared for a quick pass you can easily get interceptions. Football iq is what I’m preaching . I don’t really like zone cause the cpu doesn’t run it the way it’s supposed to be ran in real life
@@UncleRukusNoRelation Idk if you are referring to Cpu or people when you say a “good quarter back can pick apart a zone”. Cause against a human, most are gonna have a man beater on every pass play. And the CPU shreds man. Football iq has nothing to do with the game programming man to man to be worse than zone in a video game.
Coverage adjustments hardly help man to man be useful. Have your cbs play inside? Ok, now you’re open to get beat on a corner route. Want them to play outside? CPU is throwing that quick slant instantly. Have them shade over top? Hitch, quick slant, curl. Have them press or play underneath ? They’re giving up a td on a go route. You’re just risking a big play or td just to send 5-6, because it’s a guarantee that cpu qb isn’t going to miss that open go route, or quick slant, or corner route. You can call it lazy, but there’s a reason most all teams base defense in real life is a zone concept, not man.
@@Leodoesthings23 The thing that annoys me about zone on the game is the wr just finds the soft spot and the DBs are out of position. They don’t run the wr into the next defenders zone like they are supposed to. So then you have to adjust your zone depths to take away corner routes and slants and deep crosses. It’s not like you just call a zone play and the whole field is covered like in the play design picture.
@@Leodoesthings23Should clarify that you need good man to man corners to run a man scheme in referencing .one you have 3 cbs that are 85+ you can run a nickel and blitz 5/6 guys. Press your cbs up shade them inside AND over the top. Takes away slants and deep routes. Which leaves short out routes as the man beater. But a good cb will read and react and get interceptions or pbu’s.
I just had a LOLB win the HEISMAN in my man scheme . 20+ sacks 50+ TFL.
QBs don’t have time to let any deep routes develop . I’m not saying you have low fb iq I’m just saying you not running a man scheme correctly. You’re just playing man coverage and hoping and praying.
Man to man CBs are the only defenders you can find with 99 speed though….

@@3nchiridion you’re right, I should’ve said chances are much higher. That’s like finding a power back with 99 speed, crazy rare. Most high speed receivers are deep threats. For CBs man to man are the faster ones, and it’s not even close. You’re gonna have to trust me on this.
Try it out. Create an offline dynasty, create a manual save,use all your hours scouting one type of a position, exit, reload the save and repeat. I’ve done this to “cheese” and find all the gems, but also to learn which types are the best for certain stats.

Man to man CBs are a lot more likely to have 99 speed. Zone CBs with 99 speed are super rare.

Please do a running back one… I noticed with my scouting none of the running backs is have over 93 speed power backs Capp out at 92 max…. Elusive and receiving.
Cap out at 93… I’m 4 seasons in and never scouted any with speed above that

I moved a 98, speed 98 acceleration, 96 change of direction WR to HB. He only had 63 carry but is ovr went from 79 to 81. Before the end of the season, he hit 99, and he's only a sophomore.

If the game doesnt have a lot of good zone corners, then the zone rating number might be relative. An 80 zone guy might be elite. Kinda makes sense when college DBs might struggle with zone concepts.

Man works well for me if I keep safeties over the top and slant the coverage under and inside and mix in some blitzes with the coverage over the top. But there really aren't a lot of man plays that won't leave you vulnerable to getting cooked other than 2 high safeties.
I get cooked in man. Two high seems to leave the middle open sorta like cover 2. And everytime I call man two high, cpu sends a slant or post and straight cooks my CBs for a long gain.
@mikeg4960 that's why you shade the coverage down and inside. They get very physical and interrupt the routes and get a lot of picks on short inside passes.

I got a question if anyone can help does anyone know if Teams like navy n army having recuirting issues I know technically u gotta be in the navy in real life but did they implement that somehow in the game I’m doing navy I win 2 natty snack to back up to a 4 star school and only 2/3 stars wanna come I can get 4/5 stars but it’s extermely hard one week there bar is full bouta commit I’ll leave send the house on to get that last few bar left then next week it goes all the way back down I’ve also tried holding back maybe I’m over recuirting & that makes it worst someone will jump over me I did an Indiana dynasty before navy and never had this issue.

Naw I just scout the secondary really hard . Pause so I look for certain things , speed , coverage , and change of direction . I get 4star Zone CBs every recruiting class. Or I convert an athlete & hybrid safeties too . Got this hybrid ⭐️ FS 93 speed , redshirted him moved him to CB he was starting and a 87 overall with 99 speed week 1
