Thanks for your continued support~ (and yes, Thai design has some really awesome elements to it, reaching back many centuries at minimum.)

Thanks for the longer and up close shot on the Te Amo ring. I thought it was spectacular when it first flashed across the screen a couple of videos ago. I think that the stones there are perfect as was the way you covered them in this video. On your jewelry channel, which this is, stones are not the focus. On your Gemology for Schmucks channel they are the focus. On both the rings you featured in this video, they catch the eye but only as far as drawing the eye to the pattern and engraving work. They help you to see the words and heart built into the Te Amo ring. They don't detract from that work, they draw attention to it. They are somewhat like a gilt frame. The show is the center and the stones provide a glittering eye catcher. As an aside, was the switch from "I (gesture to eyes) am Peter Nelson" to my name is Peter Nelson an accident or on purpose? I always wait for and expect the two hand two finger point toward your eyes at the beginning of your videos.

I'm glad you enjoyed the rings and the story, and thank you for your continued support. Your observations are quite acute and I believe correct. For the aside that you asked about, that is particularly acute. When presenting, its easy to adopt a persona and what i'm looking to do is show the viewers of both channels that i'm more than a cartoon. Both personas are a part of me, and genuine, but they're different ways of seeing me. Life is both complex and rich. Thanks for observing, as well as watching 🙏

All jewellers around me use casted products where they just assemble for you. It sounds expensive to find someone to "handmade". Budget is often among top consideration so how do you justify a "handmade" version? How much more added cost is fair?

An excellent point and the question is an important one. As I see it, if we are talking about a design that has been made before and the lego-jewelry approach is possible, it can be a good way to go. My point with hand made is that it allows something new and different to happen. I'm not trying to make the same design as before, but in a more expensive way. That would be boring for me, and not good value for my client. In this situation, we saw the Te Amo ring, which in the old ring was the pierced letters and a simple spilt shank to hold the letters onto the ring. With hand made, I get to create a 1) knife-shank 2)bypass ring, and add a different 3)type-face (font) to the letters of "Te Amo" as well as the 4) filigree structural support instead of the split shank (Y shape) and then bead-set the 5) accent rubies. The point of hand made is that there is extra personality that you can pour into a design, so its no longer the same object. Starting with casting components can be both fast and good, but where do you want to go from there? There are some changes and choices you can make, but you are limited. With handmade, you can do almost anything you want. So the final question was "how much more added cost is fair". If we are making the same design that exists in a casting in hand-made and its the same quality... that is a difficult question. If I make something truly and measurably different however, then its a separate negotiation with the client, isn't it?
