And thank you for taking the time and energy to show us how its done . Much appreciated Austin ..this is a fav of mine and ive been winging it til i say the slowed down bit you did here . Now i must cross off the T's and dot the i's 🏴☠️
Nicely done as always mate. BTW saw Theatre Of Hate last week in Oxford. Bumped into Jamie Stewart from the CULT - such a chilled man, had a nice chat with him and got a few photos.
Thanks Colin, all videos use the Boss GT6 effects unit (sometimes 2 of them) straight into the laptop, so no amp needs to be mic'ed up. On the GT6 I use the Roland JC120 or Fender Twin simulator amp setting, then its a big stereo spread across 4, someties 6 channels in the recording software. For The Cult tracks its chorus/delay and distortion, sometimes I add in a flanger. For Hollow Man I was using 2 GT6's so distortion/chorus/delay on one and the other had a clean Roland JC120 sound mixed together, gives it that larger feel/sound. Like using 2 amps at the same time.
@@AlternativeGuitars I'm particularly keen about "the third version". I'd say it's bound for pubs and night clubs. Is it yours as well? I heard Rain for the very first time whilst having a pint at The Moscow Arms in Bayswater. It was in February of 1986. I was visting London for a whole week, and had flown in from Gothenburg the night before. Coming there once or twice a year, to experience London's Goth scene, was the climax of my entire existence.
@@CCLilja The 3rd version is the backing track with clean guitar by me - for guitarists to play along to. Did you go to the Batcave when vsiting London? I didn't live in London till 1997 so missed the mid 80's goth scene
@@AlternativeGuitars Unfortunately, only twice. In 1984 or 1985. For some reason, we normally ended up at The Marquee. Strange things happen. On one occasion, I just happened to be inside of Hippodrome. Where Angie Bowie was performing on the stage right in front of me. Featuring Mick Ronson on guitar.
@@AlternativeGuitars I hear you - this was the album that changed everything for me. Still remember (EXACTLY) where I was when a friend put the LP on and Nirvana kicked off… never looked back. Love and Big Neon Glitter are two of my favs…knew I had to play guitar / make music after that.
Its all effects - I'm using amp modellers on the Boss GT6 (2 of them) then mixing the sounds, ones clean (Roland JC120 type sound) and one is dstorted with chorus/delay. Will try and do a run through of my gear in another video
I see your videos go up, I click on them. I'm a very simple man. One of my favorites on an album that has no filler.

Ta mate, not sure it's 100% correct (especially the end bit) , but the main riff is pretty much there
We share the same wanting to record our favourite tracks more than once thing . This one def a joy to play for me . 🏴☠️
Ha, yeah, I think some of my earlier covers are lacking in the 'meaty' department, need a bit more oomph
Always loved Billy's sound you do a fantastic job takes me back to my youth keep up the great work..
Cheers John
One of my favourite Cult tracks Austin. This one took me back decades. Awesome version mate.
Ta Gary, Its a killer tune, the whole album is, was my go to record to learn guitar in 1986/87

I sincerely love your videos and can't thank you enough! What did you play your Black Falcon through to get the Cult sound?

Well done, bruv! Much appreciated. Three different takes on my absolute favourite tune by the The Cult.
Thanks mate, yeah, hopefully the different versions will be a help for guitarists

Great tone - killer. Love this track - you do it justice. Cheers.
Thanks mate, the Love album is what got me into proper guitar music, Hollow Man, Love and Big Neon Glitter - top album tracks

Hi! Would you do a quick video showing your effects to get this Cult sound? Thanks!
Yes mate, i'll do a vid on the effects soon
Thanks!!
Welcome mate
🌻💛🌼
no bad tracks on the Love album
Absolutely, my go-to guitar album from the mid-late 80's
What are the amp setting and stuff for this?! I am so desperate to play it accurately!

How about Moya, Christians, God Zoo or 83rd dream.. Awesome bro...
Check out all the videos on my channel mate - all those tracks are on there
