Man this is one bad ass turntable for sure! If this baby was in the USA it would be the talk of my Pioneer collection, even though its not a Pioneer. I love this turntable you have and all my freinds like it too, and that cool song makes it sound really nice. Do you want to sell it? I like it alot, it looks really well built too. Thanks Mike

The Technics SP-3 is the king and is rare last one sold for $30,000 and it weighs 200 Lbs

Also don’t forget the SP-10 that still outsells this and sounds way better

100+ lbs total TT weight is more than fine and not at all the p3's problem.. You're right because, at that total weight (minus the real glass/wood cover of course) the p3 lack's in it's mere 2.8Kg (6 + a hair lbs) platter.. (just look, you can see the inconsistent size conundrum, which is an oddity considering the p3's unique SHR motor is a MONSTER).. Just the original Yamaha PX-1 platter weighed in an acceptable (for it's total) 5.6Kgs and you can hear that one's far more controled total grove directionality in the increased natural signal playingfeild (drums coming from behind in the group, as they are placed, and bass drum distinctly dispalced from Bass guitar), and all from a total TT weight of "just" 27Kgs or 60lbs.. (Not getting into the Micro-Seiki SZ-1's platter weight beginning at 28Kg).
With a heavier (well over 10Kgs at least, more like15) custom platter and the correct required mods/recalibrations, this would be the table to go the full route on and re-engineer that unique, gigantic EM-03 motor to the later, smaller ones' coreless/brushless configuration, then the p3 would there stand among the utmost best, due to the rest of the egineering being top-tier groundbreaking

Wow. That is very expensive series. Not ever new 10000 dollar TT can beat that! I have cheap turntable and not very good. It is cheap and I don't like plastic look very much, but that is what I can afford that time with Pioneer PL-740. So I'm going replacing it with Marantz 6300. I like old TT with wood and metal better.

Paul Huerta there was not ever produced a Technics SP-3. There is an SP-10MKiii and it was never 200 lbs. It was 24 kilos including the power supply (18+6) and even if you bought the obsidian plinth it would add another 17 kilos to a total of 41 kilos. The best of this era was the Denon DP-100M and by a long margin. Better that the excellent (second best) Pioneer, better that the Sony PS-X9, better than Kenwood L-07D and better than the all the Technics. Even the second best Denon, the DP-80 is marginally better than the SP-10 MKii. Smoother drive and better speed regulation. Believe me, I have had all of them through my hands for service and maintenance. The DP-100M had the most heavy duty motor, the most advanced(and never after reproduced) tonearm, the best suspension for the chassis AND the platter and if bought with the optional DK-1000 wooden chassis it would reach from a very heavy 48 kilos to a back breaking 63 kilos of direct drive awesomeness. Enjoy the hobby!

Gud Dergo the Technics is a better deck sorry they were the pioneer killer just think about it if Technics didn’t make good decks don’t you think they wouldn’t have sold over 1 millions and they are still in high demand.

And Pioneer would have then bought out Technics, not vice-versa.. But we're not being fair, Pioneer was strictly and independantly an audio manufacturer (one of the very best born from the ALPS-CRAIG auto sound divide (Alpine-Pioneer)Edit:>.. OOPS.. that was Alps-Motorola split creating Alpine.. Sorry folks, been a long time, didn't want to misinform anybody), whereas Mat$u$hita is one of the greate$t "everything imaginable" giant$

That's the thing if you live in Japan these are nothing more than Kmart blue light specials, there everywhere. There's nothing special about this table at all but the price. It was never meant to be for the average consumer so you cant say its the best in the world for people. Go buy a PLC-590 with Pa-5000 tone arm or Pl-630 those are the 2 best Pioneer turntable for consumers in the world specially if you live in the United States!
