Songkranta is a celebration of the lunar year end of rice harvest, restart of the 4 seasons and the reversal of the mekong river which tonle sap the biggest lake in the world/cambodia reverses back into the mekong. It is a celebration dedicated to the water god / diety aka OM TONLE TEK. Hence why Songkran Thailand doesnt make sense when thai nationals fight over about culture. Water is sprayed to wash away dirty karma and you are normally then greeted with a face full of rice powder to bless you with plentiful harvest for the coming seasons. So don't be offended when you are sprayed, because it is done with good intentions to wash away your karma. The word Angkor means Rice, as the termple is referred to the era of Rice production, and you can really admire the terraformation and irrugation techniques employed in that era is just spectacular. Now look back on to all the temples, ruins etc in the country and how much history has been engraved into the culture just in terms of rice production. You can only imagine what kind of engineering, artistic and highly advanced society it was in comparison to modern era and we see this type of feat all around the world which questions where did all this knowledge came from? Then buried or are there groups of consciousnesses selected in various regions of the world to kick start civilisation aka the fallen ones.

Alot of amazing things in this world id like to refer to as collective intelligence and onessness to make it work for a better tomorrow and future generations to ease the burden of the material realm, life is hard as it is to sustain our body and now we are reaching an era where food is not our biggest issue anymore but sustaining economical growth and desires to give our farmers a reason to keep producing food for all of us. What happens when south est asia becomes developed and no longer wants to provide teh world with produce and join the industrial complex for economic growth. That my friend is what the khmer rouge foresaw, history is brutal and cruel but if we all work together we can make it work somehow :)

I would be skeptical with eating street food. I’m sure it smells and look good but if you’re not 100% used to eating local Cambodian meat food, then I would be weary too. Having a bad tummy during travel is not ideal. Who wants to sit on the commode all day for a few days? Lol
Even the Asian fruits that come to the US from Asia, my mom is weary. LOL. She always say to make sure I wash it really really well!!
I didn’t understand the rules of the chalk game either and I speak and understand Khmer fluently. LOL. I know the guy said you are “barang” which means “caucasian" foreigner. He was going to ask you another question and she said it doesn’t matter and then she said Thank you thank you! lol. But I didn’t understand what she said in between
If you had a great time, then thats all that matters

We eat mostly vegetarian which I think has mostly saved us from getting a bad tummy… until now 😅 luckily it was just a bacteria and not food poisoning!
Haha exactly! We had fun, I think they had fun laughing at us and that’s all that matters 😂

It’s just a part of there cultural celebration. It was hard for me as I’m not a fan of being touched by strangers but once you just let go it’s a lot of fun 🥰
