New to the channel here! I love Case's yellow Delrin. I don't have to worry about it cracking or chipping quite like a bone cover. The visibility is beautiful too, and the heritage of the yellow color really speaks to me. Great video! You've earned yourself a new subscriber!

Hello, many Americans think that “Sod buster knives are American classics.” But if you take a closer look, the origin and therefore also the “Case Sodbuster” is in Germany. Take a look at the so-called “Hippekniep” from the Otter company. The Italian “Maserin” is also a copy.
The German Hippekniep served as a model for the American Sodbuster. It is therefore considered the original form of the Sodbuster. German immigrants brought their Hippekniep knives to the USA in the 19th century. American knife manufacturers adopted the design and adapted it to the needs of the American population. The resulting knife was given the name “Sodbuster” because it was often used by farmers to break off sod.
Similarities: The Sodbuster and Hippekniep share many characteristics, such as the shape of the blade, the folding mechanism and the use of handle materials such as wood or horn.
Differences: There are also some differences between the two knives. For example, the blade of the Sodbuster is often slightly longer and more pointed than that of the Hippekniep. In addition, Sodbusters are often made of stainless steel, while Hippeknieps are traditionally made of carbon steel.
The Hippekniep has significantly influenced the development of the American Sodbuster and is therefore considered to be its original form. Both knives are popular and versatile tools that are suitable for various tasks in everyday life and in nature.
Best regards from Münster, Germany. Christoph 🙂

I'm watching this video again because I'm looking to buy my second Sod Buster Jr. I've got the common Amber Peach Seed Bone in Carbon and now I'm looking at three others. It's a fun thing to try carrying the different patterns. Good luck setting up the new shop. God Bless.

Nice sodbusters. I have two and I like them. It’s nice when our ladies get into knives as well. My girlfriend got into knives after meeting me and my mom loves the Swiss Army knife I got her. She uses it all the time 🙂

nice 👍. I have a Roger's bone large stockman with the tested xx mark on the large blade, it has the bowtie shield. I bought it new 15 years ago, wish i bought two, it even has engraving on the bolsters. Love this knife, i started carrying this knife 7 years ago. Warts and all i love it, it has blade rub. It is getting nice and slick pocket worn, but still has all the meat on the blades, because i have onli sharpened it 4 times in 7 years. I maintain my knives with a smooth steel or ceramic. I Am stingy with metal, one can remove little as possible and keep the blades maintenance up with a steel, or a strop. Enjoy your content!

I just got my first sod buster a couple weeks ago and carry it every day along since my Benchmade 940 and I find myself going for the case more often than anything else it just feels so good int the hand and it's just the right size for detailed stuff on small projects. It has also started to pick up a beautiful patina for all the use it's been seeing with it's 1095 carbon blade paired with the yellow synthetic handles

You took me from being a snob about Sodbusters where I just thought of them as cheap entry level knives to where I carry one in your custom sheath almost every day Ever since I got the S35 Buffalo Horn Jr I can do about anything with it And I’m hoping to get a couple more for my birthday

My plan is to edc a sod buster. What more do u need for an EDC? If my world comes to the point I need like a western Bowie to edc so be it, till then a sod buster is plenty and American made and classy, classical to boot.
