Nice work guys. I still prefer the old 3 speed crunch box in mine, but that 5 speed certainly appears to be a big improvement in driveability. Keep on enjoying the Model A.
@@jeromebreeding3302 might be a later project but this is fine for now My grandpa put a lot of time and money in to this engine and fixed it and got it looking nice
Thats fine. Just in case, you did check the oil level in the rear axle and filled the T5 right? There is a company near here that builds a new bell housing for anything you have and fits to a Toyota 5 speed cast iron cased gearbox. $1800 and upward plus tax. Includes the 5 speed gearbox. Nice original model "A" there. some geardrive sound near the end of the clip. It seems like it will be wonderful to travel long distance now. That a 3000 c.c. engine?
The only down I see in this type of swap is: you are now relying on the flimsy wishbones to absorb all the torque that the torque tube was designed to handle.
Im leaning towards the Mitchell overdrive thats around $3500. Did you buy this as one whole kit or did you have to piece it together? What was the final cost to you? Thanks for the video!
Did the Mitchell synchro trans with lightened flywheel and V8 pressure plate. No waiting to move shift lever into first. 3.27 rear gears makes a 45 mph stock set up into a 52 mph cruiser. Only shorter throws on shift lever a tell. No cutting and used original torque tube with vent added near trans. Ford used no vent so water builds up rusting out bearings.
so good to see the young ones involved
Ya'll popped up on my feed! 😀 Nice! Subscribed - looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Thank you so much

Way better. Makes it into a modern mini pickup truck.
Ya it will drive nicer and easier to shift

Yes we did check and fill the oil. Thanks for checking
Did you have to change the pedals? Can you do a video on that and show how the linkage works?
The adapter plate from vintage metalworks was made to mount the 1930 ford model AA original pedals
Great job 👏 young man 😅
Thanks
What type of pedal assembly kit was used for the T-5 ? 😊

Where did the rear Wishbone hook up at?
We fabricated a transmission crossmember and the wishbones hook to that
Same place.

Roughly what speed do you shift into 5th with the new trans?
Probably about 40 miles an hour

I’m not sure what the final cost was but we bought all of the parts and put everything together

Higher cruising speed?
Yes
We now have overdrive

Personally, i prefer floating the gears in a non-synchro unit. But hey, different strokes for different folks.
Yeah, I am with you!
I love this
Great job guys!!!! Maybe the S10 gear ratio is to long for those 20hps.
