I never imagined someone better than Gerald Undone. Fantastic review and brilliant editing. You are showing and telling in a wonderful balance. I am a photographer who could never understand vector scopes. Now, just from watching this video, I think I have half a clue ; )
Wow, thank you! Really appreciate the compliment. And Glad it helped you better understand Vectorscopes. It might look complex, but it's pretty simple actually. Would really appreciate if you share the video with your peers, it helps the channel a lot. Thansk again
Bro all his videos are like this. I like that he actually goes out and shoots with the gear he reviews. Gerald mostly does controlled tests. Which is cool but I love these kinds of videos. Plus he has graphics too. Which is great.... Come on Gerald!!! Step up your game!!!! LOL
You know what you're good at, research and presentation. Combine that with your passion for cinematography, you get brilliantly made content such as this video. Wish you well my man.
Although I'm already subscribe to your channel, I'm constantly looking for your new video ( I can't wait the notification). I'm waiting your review on the Lumix S5ii and S5iix and eventually a comparison to the S5. Your are too good! Respect!
The bleeding light of the right corner plus skew image is a monstruous “no no” for any lens. This should be fixed in a revision of the product. Thanks for spotting them and showing clearly on your review.
Yeah I agree 1000% about the skew. But I know many people like the ceiling glare for a vintage kind of look, again that’s a subjective point and I doubt they’ll do anything about it
Very impressive. Your video, I mean. Always refreshing to see reviews that are technically sound and cut through the marketing BS. Clearly well researched. Great Job.
I noticed the slight slant in my copy also but once I adjusted the screws at the bottom it fixed it. The glass just needed to be rotated as the mount was not in the correct position
What was strange to me is them having samples in their prompt that have that slanted footage. But it seems my unit is beyond repair, maybe it’s extra slanted. All the videos I saw online of this have different degrees of slant
@@THEDPJOURNEY yeah when I got my pre-released copy they had no idea how to fix it as I guess no one reported the issue. I just decided to tinker with the mount and almost fixed it 100%. Slightly quality control issue I guess 🤷🏽♂️ thanks for your video. Super high quality as usual
I was surprised no one mentioned this in their reviews even though I saw that clear slant on their clips, even before I got the lens. Those things need to be mentioned to protect the potential buyers, that’s why we’re here. But yeah, it’s good this can be fixed after all whether physically or in post. Thanks again for the compliments 👍
Since sirui released this lens i’m researching about it, because of how cheap and awesome it is, Finally, like always you make it clear for me🙏🏼🔥 Now my only problem is FX3😅because doesn’t open gate Without open gate is too stretch. Thank you again🙏🏼
Really happy this video helped you better understand the lens, and the Sony FX3 would not be the best choice for anamorphic considering the no open gate limitation. But again, you can crop
Your deep knowledge is clearly evident. A riveting watch that truly impressed me. I'd love to see a lot more, also about the high-end anamorphic lenses on the market.
Thank you so much for the kind words and support. I'll work on more soon, and I'll try to get my hands on more high end ones also. Would appreciate if you like and share. Thanks again
@@THEDPJOURNEYHave you played around with Canon RAW Light? I consistently get rather high noise in both the XFAVC and RAW files out of the C300-3 at high ISO and was researching how to best denoise it, which is how I ended up watching many of your videos.
I'm incredibly happy to see that Sirui is doing well with these anamorphic lenses! And, at the same time, I'm even more happy to see that everyone is selling the Kowas and Iscorama for cheap 😂 Great video as always. Thanks for making it!
@@THEDPJOURNEY looking forward to it. Wonder if the temporal noise reduction issue is still present in the new cameras as it was in S1H and S5 (where even when shooting log and have the NR dial set to zero - the temporal NR would still produce banding in smooth gradient moving areas of the image. I know they fixed it for the S1 but not S1H or S5)
I have the 75mm Saturn with the 1.25x adaptor which gives me around 37mm focal length. I’m assuming this wouldn’t work too well with the adapter and 2x de squeeze mode on the lumix S1H?
I cant see the value of the lens since it´s a single lens and doesn´t fit in the linup of all other Venus lenses which are 1.6x squeeze. I never understood why Sirui released this lens. Thank god they released a 150mm 1,6x lens to complete the set including 35,59 75 100 and 150mm now, the 135 doesnt fit in that set and you should be aware of this.
Solid review. Thank you! I’m currently looking for a budget anamorphic set for my students. Which set would you recommend that’s under $10K and comes with a carrying case?
Hey there! I must say this video has been quite informative as I’ve been eyeing the 50mm 1.6x squeeze from Sirui for full frame. But I seek some advice as I’m new to filmmaking but I do have a love for the anamorphic look. Is there a camera you would suggest which would be best for anamorphic support? I currently have the Sony A7 IV which doesn’t have an anamorphic crop and I worry about losing resolution if I crop in post seeing as it only provides a 16:9 sensor read out. I know the Lumix cameras come with an anamorphic mode but I’m also looking into any that shoots in higher resolution so if I do have to crop in post, I can settle for true 4k. Thanks!
hey Jahmeel, yeah the S5MKIIX or the brand new Blackmagic cinema camera, would be your best options now for anamaorphic. The S5 has more options and AF of course, and more compact. but the Blackmagic has a better image. Hope that helps

Yup
awesome review

Great video! Love the character of the lens. Just wish it had an amber flare option. Blue flares are just too JJ Abrams for me. 😅
Totally agree! I prefer amber as well, espeically if the lens has a warm tint, the blue contrasts a lot
Any plans to review new-ish Panasonic S5ii and x bodies?
Possibly soon
