I just wanted to make a recommendation. My rats were huge chewers and chewed all the plastic on the bottom. So I ended up getting a metal critter nation tray. It was somewhat expensive but totally worth it! If that ever becomes a problem for you just keep it in mind. Good luck with your future Rats!
My daughter saved up to bring home some rats. I was not much of a fan. Then the pet store messed up and gave us 2 girls a boy instead of 3 boys. We ended up with 31 babies within a couple months. 😰 we ended up keeping 5 of the babies and they are honestly the sweetest little things and I love them so much. The way they reach out to be picked up. 😍❤️❤️❤️

Highly recommend investing in some cheerios/frosted flakes because they're like crack to ratties 😂 also that hanging bed will fit about 10 rats, they love to squeeze into the smallest places and snuggle. We use to give our girls empty tissue boxes because they loved to chew them up/cuddle in them despite us spending money on fancy bedding for them.
Love this! I just put the add-on onto our double critter nation. Now it's a triple and so fun! I encourage all rat people to use water bowls in addition to bottles. My girls love their water bowls and watching them "wash their hands" is ridiculously cute. 🤩 Watch out for added sugars in dried fruit!
i am so impressed by how passionate you are when it comes to pets. you clearly do lots of research!! i love rats so much, and i had a beautiful pair of girls that passed away this last year and i’m heartbroken. but knowing that the rats you’re going to get are going to go to a loving home makes me so happy!! my two girls were so sweet and smart, i would just let me free roam my room for hours every day. i really hope you thoroughly enjoy having rats ❤️❤️
oh one last tip (i haven’t fully finished the video so forgive me if you already mentioned this) but rats are incredibly smart and can be potty trained!! i put a big rock in my girls cage that they would pee/poop on and they never ever once pooped in my room - only ever on the rock!!

My rats love unsalted and raw pumpkin seeds! They also love walnuts, but I don't feed those very often due to the high fat content. Remember that baby rats love a higher protein diet, so feeding them pieces of hard boiled eggs can help with that (my big rats also love this hahaha). I hope it goes well when you get them! I have two of those exact foraging toys for my cats, one came with dreamies cat treats. My little one loves batting it around trying to get the treats out , it's great enrichment for her.
Same girl I’m doing a home made food literally took a month for me to do rat research to make sure I new everything about rats diet, enclosures, health issues, taming, introducing new rats etc. Can’t wait to see rat routine videos 😊❤️
I bought one of those play pens and my sister was the one who opened it, so it almost killed her instead of me, but I never found out how to fit it back into that little bag 😂😂
This was personally a hard video to watch because I lost both of my rats just a couple months ago but seeing how excited you are about getting your rats made me feel a bit better I can tell you did your research and got a bunch of stuff that's great for them rats are the sweetest animals I've ever had as a pet and Its so hard not to have them with me but I just know your going to love yours to pieces Edit: my rats loved to jump out of things so just be aware of that when using the play pen

I use paper pellets for my ferrets, Tractor Supply sells a 40lb bag of Pine pellets for Horse bedding and its only 5.99! So affordable and keeps the smell at a minimum.

I’m so excited for these videos! Rats have been my favorite animal I’ve ever had, they’re just the sweetest. Also that enclosure is truly amazing I had it previously when I had 3 rats and they loved it because it’s so spacious. Hope the enclosure wasn’t too much of a headache to put together, I remember parts not wanting to line up right for me and me getting very frustrated. 😅

I personally wouldn't recommend oxbow for rats. They do not produce good food for omnivores and consists mainly of hay, which doesn't need to be in a rats diet. Their food is good for herbivores such as guinea pigs but not so much omnivores such as rats and hamsters 😊 Great hall, you've truly spoiled them! They're going to have such a good life with you!

i want to get a rat SO BAD but their short life is gonna be so stressful for me it's just so little time to enjoy. They're so adorbs i just wished they lived longer :(
I guess, the only advice I would give, is to skip the young rat and mouse food. The quality isn't as good as the oxbow adult rat food. Just supplement with a little more protein(eggs, dried meal worms) until they are around 6 months old. This is what the breeder i got my rats from did, and most other breeders I know say the same thing. :) Excited to see the new babies!

Just a suggestion, next time buy the off brand Cheerios because most of them have a lot less sugar add and sugar isn't good for rats. I'd also suggest getting them some baby food, and dried veggies.
Rats dont need pellets. Mazuri rat & mouse blocks should be the main food & then feed scraps from your plate or healthy veggies & fruits. Other than that i love all the stuff you got for them they're gonna be so spoiled.
If you have any questions about Rats let me know! My Mom has had 20 at one period of time so she has learned a lot. She even knows what to get for colds and vitamins, etc. :) She only has maybe 10 right now. And my sis has maybe 8. I know you were a vet tech but just incase.... ALSO im loving all the videos on this and your other channels :)
Love this video can see u have done a lot of research, if u want a good treat if u don’t have it al ready they love ferret malt paste people who own rats call it rat crack just because of how much rats like it
Just make sure any substrate u use in the cage for rats is dust free and kiln dried just because of there bad respiratory symptoms I sadly had a rat who died of a respiratory infection and it’s not fun, also once they have it it’s more likely for the infection to come back 😊

Frosted flakes?? They are really bad. Stick to Cheerios and stuff like that.

In just a single critter Nation can suit max.6 rats but I prefer 4 maximum 5 in each section :)
